Coffee Break:2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary Baseball

As baseball season, and my Yankees, roll on we are seeing more baseball releases make their way out there.

However, just like with some football products, there were some delays, so we are seeing some late products getting into our hands.

One of the latest products I was excited about last year, forgot about it, and now have it in hand for today's Coffee Break.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*

Every box of 2021 Tops Chrome Platinum Anniversary baseball comes with 24 packs of 4 cards. Each box comes with multiple refractors and one autograph per box. Sort of set up like regular Topps Chrome. Each box is roughly $125-$150.

BASE:
The base design uses the iconic Topps 1952 design that gets the chrome treatment.
The base set itself is MASSIVE. 700 cards in total, I don't think I have ever seen a chrome product with so many cards in a set.

Back of the card.

The base set consists of players from the present like Cole.

Past like Fred Lynn and Jackie Robinson (was hoping for a Griffey base in my box but no such luck)

Future like this Apostel.

And it also includes some bad centering on some cards. Makes it feel more authentic right?

PARALLELS:
Of course, with a chromed product, you are going to get a massive number of refractors.

Here are the offerings for this product,
Refractor, Prism, Black & White Mini-Diamonds, X-Fractor, Aqua Wave, Blue Mini-Diamonds /199, Red Atomic /100, Green/Yellow 70th /99, Rose Gold Mini-Diamonds /75, Platinum 70th Mini-Diamonds /70, Gold/Rose Gold 70th Wave /50, Orange/Yellow 70th /25, Black/Gold 70th /10, Black/Red 70th Mini-Diamonds /5, SuperFractor 1/1.

Base refractors fall 1:4 packs. I love the Torre find.

X-Factor falls 1:24 packs. This card however won't slap you in the face.

Kyle Cody seems surprised by my Will Smith comment or was aiming to have one of those faces you get by kids in one of their expensive school photo shoots, is a mini Rose Gold Mini-Diamond /75

Aqua Wave (my favorite parallel so far I have seen)

Blue Mini Diamonds /199

AUTOGRAPH:

Meh. Nothing big here. That's the way my Chrome breaks go.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
It's a sharp looking product, including the base. I like the parallels, even though I had to do some research to distinguish them. I wouldn't mind however seeing this be another product in rotation every year.

My box didn't provide much value, but that's because I was saving that for you guys to go out and buy.

Thoughts on today's break welcomed in comments!

Have a great Wednesday.

Life Is Like A Cup Of Coffee

Life is like a cup of coffee; you never know what kind of cup you are going to get served.

Some cups are smooth and takes your mouth buds on a nice journey. Other cups will burn your mouth (thanks McDonalds for ALWAYS being that one cup). Many cups will have their up and down days where some days it tastes great and other days it doesn't. Then there are those cups you wait and wait and wait in line for just to get the name of Michelle written on the cup even though your name is Matt. Don't ask. Finally, there are just those really awful cups. The ones you wouldn't even serve your worst enemy. The ones that taste sort awful and have texture like motor oil.

That final cup is what I saw my nephew and his wife get served recently.

I haven't been posting much on here other than some pre-drafted re-posts because life had thrown my family a bad cup.

The end of June, my nephew and his wife were expecting their first child, a girl. They had the nursery ready to go (designed by his wife), the car seat positioned in the car for the ride home and babysitter set up for their two dogs when it was go-time. Like most with their first, they went over the due date and were surprised by a July 2nd emergency C-Section.

Things did not go as planned.

Baby Ariella came out to this world with 1/3 of the blood she should have had and is suffering from a condition called Hypoxic-Ischemic-Encephalopathy (HIE) which is affecting her brain and all of her organs which eventually will cause all of her organs to fail. She is still in the hospital in critical/grave condition with a slew of doctors, nurses and God watching over her in the NICU. It feels she is hitched up to every machine the hospital offers, and my nephew and his wife just barely got to hold her for the first time a couple of days ago.

Can you imagine not being able to hold your baby? Especially your first baby?!

Despite being served this bad cup of coffee, they have been strong with their faith, have family and friends from afar checking/praying for them continuously (including my wife and I) and a great medical team making sure the baby Ariella is getting her best care.

My wife set up a Go Fund Me for my nephew and his wife to help pay for some of these medical expenses. If you can, please donate. If not, please share this on your Facebook, Twitter or any other social media you have. Every penny counts.

They have gone through a lot already; nobody should have to deal with all of the expenses on top of that. They have already been served a cup with the name fart written on it, that tastes like rubber bands, and is as thick as glue.

Thanks for taking a minute out to read today's post.

If you are being served a bad cup of coffee today, just know there is a better cup coming. Keep the faith. Because with every bad cup, there is always a good one on its way.

Coffee Break:2021 Panini Contenders Fanatics Mega Box Break #2

*the final post of my republished breaks is here, I see you spilling your coffee all over to celebrate. time for some new break content on here!*

*takes a sip to celebrate myself*

Today, is box #2 of the Panini Contenders contest win I got from @SabertoothCards.

Let's check out if it can beat box #1.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*

2021 Panini Contenders Football Fanatics Mega Box comes with 10 packs of 8 cards. Each box comes with 2 autographs and runs about $99-$125.

I won't bother showing all of the base I landed, so I will go straight to the meat of the product.

SSP Stardust parallel!! Pretty cool looking. Different kind of card stock used on these.

Other base card parallels are, Red Zone, Stardust, Playoff /199, Championship /99, Cracked Ice /21, Super Bowl 1/1, and Printing Plates 1/1.

Inserts do have parallels, Emerald, Orange, Ruby, Sapphire, Silver /99, Gold /25, and Platinum /10.
Playoff Ticket with those big time games in the playoffs and with 15 of them to collect. I already own the Eli which is the most important one on the checklist anyways. I remember this game really well, I am sure Bronco fans do to. I was a huge Jacksonville fan as my Team #2 back in the 90's.

Legendary Contenders and nobody is more of a legend than Barry who is one of 15 on the checklist. Williams is an Orange.

Rookie Of The Year has those candidates chasing the award with 30 of them in the set. I need a Toney like this.
Chain Movers is new to Contenders and I dig it. There are 30 of them to collect as well.

Tyreek is an Orange.

Gladiators. I like this design as well.

Power Players features all of those defensive guys from past and present with 25 cards in the set to collect.

Round Numbers with rookies who were drafted in the same round and with 20 cards to collect. Not too bad of a pull at all!

Winning Ticket has a $$$$$ design and 10 cards to collect.

Now my two autographs...
A kicker.........

and

a defensive player. This is at least a Championship Ticket parallel.

ROUGHER break than the first one.

Your thoughts on this break welcomed below.

HUUUUUUUUUUUGE thanks to @SabertoothCards for the prize pack. You are very generous. Go give them a follow on Twitter if you haven't yet.

Coffee Break:2020 Chronicles Football Blaster Box (NICE SILVER BLACK PRIZM PULL!!)

*another republished break post today, no they aren't gap fillers, they are still enjoyable to read and many of you haven't seen these*

*takes a sip and gets ready*

Chronicles is an interesting product. I like how it is built up of many products and put all into one.

Which can make this product a fun one to open never knowing what you may find.

This isn't the first time I have broken this product as I have opened a lot of it. By a lot, it has been enough where I am finding it worth my time to chase down some of the sets within.

However, my luck hasn't been great. Up to this point, my best pull was a Burrow Prizm. Let's see if today's break can outdo that.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*
Each 2020 Chronicles football blaster box comes with 40 cards which equals out to be 8 packs of 5 cards. Each blaster goes for $45.

You get a lot of base cards in every box, so I focused on the key ones I found.
The brand is Panini within the product, Herbert wasn't too bad of a find!

Other key rookie I found in a variety of the inner products including Justin Jefferson, Jalen Hurts and Jonathan Taylor.

A James Robinson Dynagon base rookie.

Each box also comes with a Pink Parallel card in every pack.
Jefferson and Tua lead the way here.

You can also find the other following parallels for the base,
Bronze, Green, Pink, Teal, Red /199, Blue /99, Purple /49, Black /25, Gold /10, and Platinum 1/1.

On average, you also should find one Prizm Black card per blaster box as well. Sometimes those are parallels...
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Nice Tua Tagovailoa!

You can also find these parallels,
Silver, Purple /125, Red /99, Orange /75, Green /49, Blue /25, Gold /10, Gold Vinyl /5, and Black Finite 1/1.

Some decent named rookies and a Tua silver to end it. Not a bad break at all.

I like Chronicles, I know a lot don't. I think one thing I would change with the product is making it into one base set but leveling the different products. You know, the first 100 cards are the base Chronicles cards and then build it up from there. Maybe making the next level 101-125 1:2 packs, then 126-150 1:3 and tougher as it goes up. Make Prizm be the hardest at the end of the product. Would be a fun base set challenge chase.

But, along with these suggestions I have, I would keep the parallels the same.

Thoughts on my box break welcomed in comments and your thoughts on this product in general.

Coffee Break:2021 Panini Contenders Fanatics Mega Box Break #1

*takes a sip, gets ready for another republished post on Cards Over Coffee. we only have two more of these left...I promise!*

I recently scored a huge contest win on Twitter netting me some great prizes. Along with a couple of autograph cards, one of Derek Stingley, a SAGE card set I also got two 2021 Panini Contenders Fanatics Mega Boxes. Crazy huh?? I haven't won a contest in soooooooooooooooooooooooo long it felt great and was a big win.

So, as I promised @SabertoothCards, I would break and post both on here.

Today, is box 1. Let's see how it goes.

I didn't put this in my first regular Mega Box break of Contenders, but these inserts do have parallels, Emerald, Orange, Ruby, Sapphire, Silver /99, Gold /25, and Platinum /10.

Power Players features all of those defensive guys from past and present with 25 cards in the set to collect. Mack is an orange.

MVP featuring 25 of those soon-to-be and already candidates for the leagues prestigious award.

Playoff Ticket with those big time games in the playoffs and with 15 of them to collect. I already own the Eli which is the most important one on the checklist anyways.

Gladiators. I like this design as well. Put those players in the coliseum and fight it out.

Round Numbers with rookies who were drafted in the same round and with 20 cards to collect. Not too bad of a pull at all!

Rookie Of The Year has those candidates chasing the award with 30 of them in the set. I need a Toney like this.

Moore is an orange.

Chain Movers is new to Contenders and I dig it. There are 30 of them to collect as well.

Now onto my two autographs, I have heard these boxes can be rough, mine was.

Simi is a Wild Card Round parallel.

But, think I know of a Cowboys and Patriots fan who would trade for these.

Thoughts on my break welcomed in comments.

Coffee Break:2021-2022 Panini Hoops Basketball Blaster Box

*these repulished posts make for a good weekend read don't they? time for another break*

You ever have one of those so-called "blonde moments"? Well, I can admit that I did recently.

And I am far from blonde unless you call dark hair and growing bald just that.

I saw a box of 2021-2022 NBA Hoops sitting on the shelf at Walmart and thought I saw it as the NBA Hoops Winter edition that comes with a Christmas Sweater so I snagged it. Everyone knows how much I love my Christmas cards.

I never noticed that I grabbed the wrong box until I opened it and saw no holiday sweater card.

Then I read it. UGH.

Well, regardless, I still got to open some basketball cards something you couldn't do a year ago.

Let er rip!

*takes a sip, begins to rip*

In every blaster box of 2021-22 Panini NBA Hoops basketball, there are 8 packs of 11 cards. Each blaster has no guarantee other than some inserts and possible parallels and hits. Blasters currently run $27.98 each.

The base card set is Hoops like. Good photography along with an outside white border.
270 cards make up this year's Hoops checklist. There is some incredible photography used in this set such as this Zion and the main base set is built up of 200 veterans

And 70 rookies. My box was weak rookie card wise.

There are plenty of photography packed inserts as well.

You can find the following parallels in this years Hoops,Anniversary Edition, Blue, Green Ice, Hyper Blue, Neon Green, Purple, Purple Winter, Red Backs, Teal Explosion, Winter, Yellow, Silver /199, Green /99, Hyper Red /99, 75th Anniversary /75, Red /75, Blue Explosion /59, Artist Proof /25, Hyper Green /25, Orange Explosion /25, Red Explosion /15, Artist Proof Gold /10, Hyper Gold /10, and Artist Proof Black 1/1.

These are blue and purple.

Inserts can come with the following parallels, Holo, Hyper Red /99, Artist Proof /25, Hyper Green /25, Artist Proof Gold /10, and Hyper Gold /10.
There are 30 cards to collect in Lights Camera Action

15 cards make up the Frequent Flyers set.

Arriving Now is 25 cards deep in its checklist featuring rookies.

25 cards in the Class of 2021 insert set.

Sky View has 25 cards to collect.

The Slam inserts return featuring the basketball covers from the magazine.

My favorite card from this break was the holo version. This card looks amazing. Would make for a great set chase.

Not too much excitement in this break other than that last card. But, maybe a buddy of mine needs some more set help and I am willing to help out.

Thoughts on this break welcomed in comments.
