Boy Meets World

The 90's had some of the best television shows and a lot tackled subject matter that most wouldn't dare to tackle today because let's be honest, everyone gets offended easily.

It's just society today.

I am just glad I grew up when I did.

*coffee intake begins*

Boy Meets World was one of those shows and it tackled a variety of issues that faced most kids/teenagers including family, friends, death, school, love, drugs/alcohol and more. It had both a comedic and serious side with lessons learned in every episode on topics you felt were real.

It was one of my favorites that came on the TGIF block, not that I didn't call all of the shows on TGIF my favorite. The show ran for 7 years from 1993-2000.

When I discovered that 2024 Topps Allen And Ginter had included some of the actors autographs from the show in the product, I knew I had to chase them down.

So, I did.

After a few trades and a couple eBay purchases with my gift cards, I was able to complete what I wanted to.
Up first was this Will Friedle autograph, who played the main character, Corey Matthews, "air headed" brother Eric.

Up next was Rider Strong, who was Shawn Hunter Corey Matthews best friend.

And finally...
Most boys who grew up in the 90's had a crush on Topanga, Corey Matthews love interest. She was played by Danielle Fishel.

I had a crush, but she wasn't my top chase. That was Amy Jo Johnson, the Pink Ranger.

I also found out that two of the actors also had relic cards. Sadly not Topanga.

I landed both of those as well (currently I misplaced the Rider Strong relic and can't find it grrr)

All three also have base (just landed all three in trades) with minis (have Topanga only) and parallels. This chase could be deeper, but I am happy with what I have for now.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

They sure don't make shows like they used to. I am glad I grew up in an era of great cartoons, movies, shows and afterschool specials. I think all of them shifted me into being the person I am today.

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday.

My Top 10 Acquistions Of 2024

Before we get too far into 2025, I wanted to recap my favorite pickups of 2024.

First though, I need my coffee. So, hold on. It's temps in the negatives and the only way out of that ice coldness is coffee.

*coffee brewed. happiness and warmness achieved*

There is no particular order below for my Top 10 acquisitions as they are all equal. I could have added more and made this a Top 20. But I just wanted to narrow it down.

It's cold and I just want my coffee.

*sips*

First card up is Kyle Lauletta. I just love the patch on this card. It would have been really tough to leave this one off the list.

Next up, Karen Gillian. This autograph was a need for my Marvel PC and for the newer Jumanji movies I enjoyed. And I may have a little crush to.

Following that up is Coffee Card Hall Of Famer Craig T Nelson.

I think this Griffey could have been Hall worthy, it was by far my favorite Griffey add last year. Die-Cut, space is exactly what I look for in a card.

Another Hall Of Famer made this Top 10 list. One of my favorite shows on TV right now.

I added this one in July I think it was. He should be in the Hall, but isn't. That's why it's important to nominate cards! This is my only Nabers auto to. I would like one in a Giants uniform before next season.

It's real turf. Really cool card.

Hall Of Famer in real life, it didn't get a nomination for the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame, for $12 is a win and had to be on this list.

Another Coffee Card Hall Of Famer made this list. I had wanted this card for a few years and now have it.

And finally, this card had to make the list. This was one of my Top 5 most sought after cards last year as well.

Well, there you have them. Let me know which card(s) you thought should have made the list I left out or which one is your favorite and why.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Do good for others today and it will be good for you as well.

Coffee With Carmen Electra

I know some of you have been waiting to see my final three autographs in my trade with @levy2628, so I figured why not throw one up tonight.

I will admit though, I have no coffee with this post, but it doesn't mean I am not thinking about coffee and counting down til morning for it.

*thinks of coffee*

The next autograph in my trade is from an actress I have watched some movies of. She isn't at the top-top of my needs list, but is on there. Her role as Roxanne in Good Burger puts her here as part of my nostalgic need.

Yes, I am talking about the eye appealing Carmen Electra.

Other movies I have seen her in are parody ones such as Scary Movie, Date Movie, and Disaster Movie.

What have you seen her in? Let me know in comments!

It's time for me to get ready for bed. This just means I can sleep til coffee. Can't wait.

You Didn't Think I Would Miss It Did You?

It may have taken me all day for this, but I promise you I won't forget to post on National Coffee Day.

What kind of Coffee Card Blogger Would I be? (this is where you say a bad one if I did)

Since it's late, I won't be drinking any beverage while I put this post quickly together, but I will tell you I did have a couple cups earlier today to celebrate. It wasn't quite the Dunkin run I had wanted to make, but was just too busy and didn't quite have the time to celebrate like I had wanted.

It's just the way things are right now.

My original plan for today's post was just to post about the coffee day but figured it wouldn't be Cards Over Coffee without some cards.

So, let's check out my latest Rodney Hampton adds since 2023 products have put out a ton of them. In the last two months, Rodney has had new cards in Select, Topps Composite, Topps Motif and I just found out yesterday he will be in 2023 Panini National Treasures as well. With all of these, there was 60+ new Rodney's out there to chase. Pretty much an impossible one with TONS of 1/1's.

My new method to this is just add what I can because I don't have the finances. I can only add stuff when I get the gift cards to do so from reward apps that I am apart of. I must be stingy and don't overdo it. There are some going for a lot more than they should be for Rodney. I must be patient and wait which isn't the easiest thing.

This method has costed me some low numbered ones from Select such as the /10 and /5 ones. I just hope they will pop up again.

This is the base silver /399.  A nice guy on Twitter sent me this one as a RAK.

This a blue /99.

And finally a Tie Dye Die Cut /25.

This is all I have for now and there is more to go including two 1/1's. Yes, TWO.

*yawns before finishing up tonight's post*

I hope everyone was able to celebrate National Coffee Day the way it needs to be celebrated. Not sure where the parades were today but this is a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade level day.

Oh, before I close, I always welcome Dunkin' gift cards in my email inbox (sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com) to help celebrate or as a thank you :)

Let me know how you celebrated the holiday in comments and/or if you have a player you collect that recently got bombarded with a ton of new cards from recent products.

10 Cups left.

Oren's Birthday Surprise

If you are ever wonder what I look like when my coffee mug is empty, just refer to this card. That's my face staring into the empty bottom of the mug.

And this is me when the refill is out of reach.

Luckily for you guys today, I am in neither situation and instead you get some coffee, cards and fun.

*takes a sip*

These two cards come along with many others thanks to a birthday gift from long time reader and friend, Oren. These are two from a small pile of Lord Of The Ring cards he sent in the bubbler along with...

This one. I have no idea what this card is, but it's cool and becomes the oldest card in my non-sports PC.

Mikaela Shiffrin! Metal Universe from Upper Deck doesn't get enough hobby love, but that's okay, I appreciate it and it's well crafted inserts.

Not sure if Oren knew this or not, but I have been chasing this 1998 set for a while now. He sent two base and then this red parallel.

Upper Deck Spider-Man No Way Home! This set just released recently. I really want to open some, in the meantime, these base cards will do!

This is my first Andrew Garfield Spider-Man card.
Is there anything wrong with adding more Marisa Tomei cards....nope!

Zendaya!

\
A stack of Golden Age, maybe I can fill my set now.

Two unopened packs...that I will be opening. Since I retired Sport Card Collectors, I am planning to carry over some of the segments from there to here including Throwpack Thursday.

Jimmy Pardo relic. Not anyone in particular I know, but I still like having non-sport relics regardless.

I don't know what this Graham Bell relic is, but it's cool.

I am starting to think that companies like Pieces Of The Past and Leaf are making better products then the big companies. If only licenses could be shared like the old days.

I know, it's probably a sin to post Giants cards on here since I promised to only post those on Big Blue Cardboard, but this times an exception because it's one mail day. Quincy Roche was an autograph need for me so glad I can cross it off.

Is Oren trying to tell me I need to start up a Ron Dayne PC....second new autograph add of his. I have never seen this autograph card before, I like it.

Darius Slayton is underrated. He is a spectacular speedster of a Wide Receiver who just needs a quarterback.

Giants draft one.

And the final card.....
Holy Smokes! A Saquon Barkley rookie numbered parallel!!!! This will go great with my base and the red, white, blue one I have. It's just too bad of his choice of team in free agency. I will enjoy my cards of him in Giants blue, but hate him at the same time. I will be rooting against him this season.

Thanks again to Oren for the birthday gift! I really appreciate you and the encouraging note you sent along as well.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I had a quiet birthday as expected, but this package brought some excitement to it. It was all the party I needed.

Now I just need more coffee and maybe some breakfast.

Before I close, I also wanted to remind you of the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame voting and that it needs you guys to nominate cards in. So far, ONLY 3 cards have been nominated!!

Details on the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame can be found HERE. I may add this to every post from here on out for a reminder as I will forget about this too! Haha!

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

The Shoebox Delivers Part 5

My first post of March begins on Day 3 of the month.

It has been a busy week overall and one that was a bit rough for me as well. When hasn't 2024 been rough for me? I ended up with a nasty head cold Wednesday night which carried over to Thursday where it completely knocked me out and I was in bed by 8:30. Friday, I spent 80% of the day in bed with Kidney stent pain followed by another round of kidney stent pain on Saturday.

I am hoping for a better day today.

Guess it all starts with my coffee.

*takes a sip*

Today, I am finally finishing up posting about the shoebox trade with my father. I was going to drag this out a little longer, but I have nothing else to post about as I had no card mail days incoming recently.  I could post the bills I got as there was plenty of those, but I wouldn't want you to be as depressed as I am about it.

So, before I continue with today's finale, if you missed the previous parts of this series, you can check them out here:
Part 2, which you can see HERE.
And Part 3 which is HERE.
And Part 4 you can read HERE.

Now onto the cards.

This is a set I was considering chasing, now with the toughest player on the checklist acquired in Jerry Rice, I may have to make this a reality. Really cool design.

A ton of 1994 Action Packed Warp Speed. There was 7 of the 12 cards in the set found in the box. And before you ask, yes I already had this Rodney Hampton.

Next, I found these Golden Domers subset cards of Rick Mirer. However, what I can't figure out is that one has a shine to it. I don't see a parallel noted for it. If any of you have info, please comment with it. I think it's a pretty cool looking one.

Up next, autograph cards! This was completely unexpected. This is why I questioned if my father even looked through this box before trading it to me.

Not a lot of big names to start out with.

Not too often you find a Basketball Hall Of Famer autograph tucked into the bottom of a shoebox. He was also a former Knick so that's cool as well.

And then Jake the Snake Plummer autograph who also happens to be a side PC player for me. I will never forget when he led the Cardinals to the playoff upset of the Cowboys which I loved every minute of.

I would say in the end I made out pretty well in this trade. It was like the cardboard Gods were blessing me for once.

If you are reading this dad, thanks again for the trade.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

There were a couple things I didn't mention in my opener. One, I went to see a surgeon on Wednesday before I fell sick with the head cold to discuss options with the hernia, they discovered on my catscan when they gave me one for the kidney stone. Apparently, the surgeon looked at a past catscan from a previous kidney stone in 2020 and saw the hernia then but it has grown bigger over time. Most likely another needed surgery this year that will knock me out for four weeks. UGH. But it will be completely up to me though if I want it done. Knowing that it has been growing, it probably should be taken care of sooner rather than later.

Second thing, I called my urologist on Friday since I was dying in pain, and she wasn't available. The nurse took notes and info from me. I should hear back on Monday if there is anything they can do for me sooner. Prayers on that. I need this stent out as I don't want to wait another three weeks.

I hope this week goes better, hope all of you have a great week as well.
