Too Much To Post, Such Little Time

Last year, my biggest concern with blogging on here was not having enough content, this year, it's having time to post. With 35+ drafts waiting on me, I need to start to find some time to get these posted up.

Especially since I have some really cool mail days from friends to share.

So, grab a coffee (or your preferred beverage that should be coffee) and check out this massive ten PWE trade with blog reader and friend, Oren.

This is actually two separate trades we pulled off, I just didn't have the time to post the first one, so I combined them.

The first trade, 2 PWE's, had a variety of fun.

Die Cut Ivan Rodriguez. I haven't seen this card before.

I have seen one of these before. Another nice die cut.

I believe this is my first Diamond King like this. This is from 1995 and has quite the snazzy, jazzy 90's feel.

Another insert that I hadn't seen before. Oren must be digging deep to find these.

This was when Fleer Metal started to become the coolness it is known for now.

I do have a few of these, I think this card is lacking in shiny. The design looks nice but add some shine to it and it kicks it up some.

Then came some non-sport fun,

(other than one autograph, this is the only Family Guy card in my collection. which is sad because Family Guys first few seasons I loved)

The second mail day was a record breaker for not only us, but for me in general as it was my first 8 PWE trade.

A couple more American Pie. I really need to finish up this set as I only have 10 or 11 more to go. I think I have both of these, but that's okay, I collect dupes from this set.

Next up was a TON of Skybox Marvel Metal. I hadn't seen any of this and didn't get to open any.

This will make the start of a great future set chase. I still need to work on gathering my set numbers first for all of my sets to update on here.

Thanks goes out to Oren for our latest trade! Looking forward to the next!

Well, this knocks down one post. Many more to go.

Thanks for coming out to read this one and hope you bring a cup of coffee (or your beverage choice which should be coffee) for the next one.

Miscellaneous

Coffee is hot, the cards are hotter. So, let's get ready for a new Cards Over Coffee.

I know the title for today's post is a little lame, but, what else could I have called this post? It's a bunch of miscellaneous mail days that I need to catch up on posting about.

It simply stating a fact.

Another fact I want to state is how generous Crocodile Sports Cards Blog is. I know I am not the only one to say this. This is roughly the second or third time he has sent something cool my way.

He sent along this really cool non-sport set.

TV's Coolest Classics. A lot of these shows I remember watching with my grandmother who meant the world to me. She played a big part of my life and upbringing.

So, these cards hold a special place in my heart. Hot Dog!

Thanks Croc!

Up next, another one of my crazy ideas....I want to chase the 1995 Pro Line Classic autograph set. This would by far be the biggest chase of my life.

I know I won't be able to do it all, especially with a few of the big names on there, but it would be fun to try right? If any of you have any...PLEASE CONTACT ME below or sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com!!

I have plenty of stamps and trade bait. Always ready to trade!

The next card, well...a new one for my 2011 Topps American Pie Set.
This was one of the toughest ones to find so far and now I have it. Think I am down to 10 more to completion on this set. See what I need HERE.

The next card is one of my other silly chases, pumpkin faces.
This is the only one I have but I will take any others!

And finally, I got my Griffey groove back thanks to seeing some of Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday's additions to his collection.

So I snagged these,

This Titanic Taters is such a sweet card! Probably my favorite of the group.

Always looking for more Griffeys! Here is my SPREADSHEET so you can see if you have any I need!

Well, that does it for all my miscellaneous fun.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday of football. Last night's game was great, hoping today's two matches that one! I know I don't plan to go anywhere today as we are in the single digits. It's a good day of football and coffee.

Til the next cup,

Slice Of American Pie:Vincent Price

*takes a sip of very hot murderous coffee, by murderous it's murdering my tongue*

*burns tongue again, keeps on typing*

When trying to find a card to show off for Halloween, it's not always easy. Especially if you have been blogging for as long as I have it gets harder to show off a card you own that you haven't shown off yet.

I think after lots of digging, I found one.

I don't have many parallels from American Pie, but one of them screamed Halloween for today's post and it was horror genius Vincent Price. His name even sounds evil.

Yes, he was in comedies. Yes, he was on TV. Yes, he was a cook. But he was also a horror movie master starring in close to 40 films.

Some notable films I have seen him in is House Of Wax, House On Haunted Hill and The Fly.

Price is a name that a lot of horror buffs know and has his place in horror movie history as a legend.

He is also card 39 in the 2011 American Pie base set.

*takes a sip, this time the coffee is cooler and just stings the already burnt tongue*

Speaking of this set, I am so scary close to completing it! 38,41,45,50,52,78,81,100,103,108,120,137,152,155, and 166 is all that remains.

If you have any set help for me, please comment or email me at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

I hope everyone has a safe holiday. Don't do anything I wouldn't do and don't take candy from strangers, eat your own bag like I will be.

And if you are handing out coffee, let me know. I will be right there.

Coffee With John Ratzenberger

*coffee is hot, laptop is open, takes a sip then begins to type*

*i guess typing has happened the whole time, but you get it*

It has been too long since I last added a non-sport autograph to my collection. Today's addition isn't a household name to many, but it's one I know.

For those of you who have heard the name John Ratzenberger, you probably know him best as Cliff Clavin who was the mail carrier on the hit comedy Cheers. I didn't watch a lot of Cheers, if any, so I know him best for his voice acting in over 20 Pixar films.

Another one of those voices of my childhood.

John voice Hamm from Toy Story to Mack The Truck in Cars to the Yeti in Monsters Incorporated. It's a recognizable voice across all of the Pixar films. There were even a few jokes in a couple of the movies about it.

The back of the card tells us about his advocating for skilled trades and keeping it Made In America. Something I would support as well.

This marks my second sought after voice actor autograph on my list of roughly five. I still need to chase down the others.

Let me know your favorite role by John in comments.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Slice Of American Pie: Michael Jackson Dies

*sits down with laptop and coffee in hand. gets ready for a new post on cards over coffee*

Where were you the day the King Of Pop died? Don't remember? I do.

Most celebrity deaths I don't remember where I was or what I was doing at the time I found out they had passed, but for some reason or another, Michael Jacksons had always stood out.

It wasn't like I was a diehard fan of his, there are a few songs I enjoy, but nothing I play on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis.

But I still remember the day he passed.

It was a hot June day in 2009. My wife was mowing the lawn outside and I was taking care of some inside chores while the TV was on one of the news channels for background noise. That's when the news broke of his death. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It wasn't like he was old or that anyone was expecting it. I then remember running out to my wife and telling her on the lawnmower that the "King Of Pop" had passed away and how shocked she was as well.

I think when she was done mowing, we both sat down and ended up watching the news to hear more about what had happened to him.

This had always just stuck in my mind. I don't know why still.

*takes a sip before showing off the card in today's post*

Card front shows a memorial for Michael.

Card back with a small write up on Michael.

If you have any of these 2011 Topps American Pie cards in your collection and want to check and see if I need them for my set chase, CHECK IT OUT HERE to see my needs.

Let me know your favorite Michael Jackson song in comments.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Slice Of American Pie:Phelps Wins 8 Golds

*takes a sip and gets ready for another new post on Cards Over Coffee!*

In my last post in this series, I mentioned how I ran into some luck on landing some set needs for my 2011 Topps American Pie set. Today, I am showing off another add from that lot I got.

Card #192 in the set showcases one of the greatest swimmers and record-breaking swimming performances in the Summer Games where Michael Phelps took home 8 gold medals.

Here he is showing them off. I would imagine if he left these on too long his neck would ache.

Card back with a writeup on his performance.

This has also been called Phelp's rookie card by many as well. I am not sure if it technically is.

I also can't imagine having that kind of talent in water. I don't even swim personally. When I get hot in the summer, I find the closest air conditioner ...or a place that has Iced Coffee.

I still have a few more to show off from this lot coming up.

If you have any of these cards in your collection and want to check and see if I need them for my set chase, CHECK IT OUT HERE to see my needs. I am creeping closer to completion on this one.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Michael Phelps now has a total of 28 metals in his career with 23 of those being golds. It seems when this man gets in the water he is the Tom Brady of swimming.

Thoughts on today's card or Michael Phelps welcomed in comments.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Slice Of American Pie:Facebook Founded

*takes a sip, gets ready for the latest Cards Over Coffee post!*

I am doing this post a day in advance since the internet is actually working, so I can pull off two posts in a row. Especially since I am a little backed up with cards.

I have a few mail days to post about, so I thought I would start with this one.

Recently I ran into some luck in my chase for the 2011 Topps American Pie set on eBay.

I had been watching a few of the base cards I needed for the set and they ended for $1 each. Which was way cheaper than they normally end for. I saw that the seller also had others ending in a few days so I messaged them and said I would be happy to grab more of them for that price and he said let me know which ones. HOLY SMOKES!! So I grabbed the ones that normally end for a much higher price for the $1 each and I fit as many as I could for the small budget I was working with.

Including today's card, Facebook.

*takes a sip before showing off today's card*

The Facebook rookie card normally can be found a few bucks more so I was excited to land it for the price I did.

I can't imagine sitting around with a few buddies and creating the monster that Facebook has grown into. I don't use Facebook a lot myself, but I do daily check-ins. I find it handy to stay in touch with family you don't see often. Other than that and sharing a bunch of funny memes, that's what Facebook is for me. I don't even bother with the hobby on there, it's an ugly place for it.

But, the idea and concept on Facebook was brilliant. It's probably how the creater Mark Zuckerberg became so rich so fast. I wished I had the mind to create something so simple that it just rolls in the money.

If you have any of these cards in your collection and want to check and see if I need them for my set chase, CHECK IT OUT HERE to see my needs. I am creeping closer to completion on this one.

*takes a sip, wonders what can be done with coffee and cards...oh wait...I did a blog on that....what else...what else....*

Thoughts on my latest set add welcomed in comments and whether you use Facebook or not.

Before closing, I wanted to mention today's card adds were grabbed thanks to the Fetch App. I got another eBay gift card and am now up to $80 in them from using the Fetch app just by scanning receipts I normally throw away. If you are interested in earning gift cards for just scanning your reciepts, you can email me at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com and I will send you my code to earn you 2,000 free points. DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS. It's crazy easy and I didn't believe it at first either.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Slice Of American Pie: Kurt Cobain

*takes a sip of fresh brew, gets computer ready for a new Cards Over Coffee post*

It has almost been a year since I have done a new post in this series. It's not that I haven't added a lot of cards for my set chase, I just haven't had the time to do a new post about them.

That ends today because my newest add to my set chase was a tough one and I must share it.

In the 2011 Topps American Pie set, there are certain cards that are tougher to land than others. Some feel rare and others have been driven up in price. Fortunately for myself, thanks to blog reader Oren, have a few of the tougher ones in the set but there are still more out there that will take a little bit to land. Those cards are considered to be "rookies" which is what makes them so tough to add because you don't want to feel like you are overpaying for base cards.

Today's card was one of those I didn't want to overpay for especially since I was never a fan.

*takes a sip before continuing on*

Kurt Cobain, the lead singer for Nirvana, has a base card in the set considered to be his rookie. Most of his base cards are listed as BIN's at $10 and up. Sometimes auctions can even go that high if not a little higher. When I saw one listed for a .99 auction with $1 shipping, I jumped on it hoping for the best. In the end, I won it for $4.36 which I saw as a steal though one recently went for under $3.
The card showcases Cobain on the front of the card as apart of the 90's era on the set.

The back discusses his suicide that shocked his fans.

I never really liked any of Nirvana's songs so if it wasn't for this as a set need, I probably wouldn't have chased this card down.

In comments today, tell me your favorite Nirvana song if you were a fan.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I hope to do more from this series and showcase more from the set I already have. I hope to add new ones, but for now will just focus on what I have.

If you have any of these cards in your collection and want to check and see if I need them for my set chase, CHECK IT OUT HERE to see my needs. I am creeping closer to completion on this one.

Have a great Wednesday.

Coffee Time

*its early morning, I already just brewed my second cup of coffee and I am pumped about another new Cards Over Coffee post*

I am still a bit behind on showing off some amazing stuff on here and figured today would be a great day to catch up on one.

My buddy and Cards Over Coffee reader Oren hit me up recently with a pretty cool mail day and already has the next one out in the mail to me. It has been a lot of fun interacting via email with Oren and doing these trade exchanges. Even though this blog doesn't have the viewing content that Matt's Wonderful Blog Of Hobbies has, I am glad it is still making an impact and it brought me a new trading friend in the process.

By now, Oren has me pretty figured out in what I am looking for and has found stuff in his own collection along with picking up some stuff for me along the way as well for trading purposes.

Today's mail day had a main focus on the non sport portion of what I collect.

*takes a sip before showing off the mail day*

The first card I am showing off is a Sp Legendary cuts card of educator Booker T Washington.

Up next, Oren helped in my set chases for 2011 Topps American Pie. Most of these will be brought back again for the American Pie segment and further looked at.

Fads And Fashioned Mood Rings (my mood right now, coffee)

Hollywood Walk Of Fame Duke Ellington (I really want the Rodney Dangerfield version)

Rainbow Foil, my first one of these and it's a beaut.

A stack of base for my base set, will break these down more later on.

*takes another sip*

The next portion of my mail day involves some hits.
A Terminus Resident relic for my non sport PC. I really need to watch The Walking Dead.

This is pretty awesome. Frank Caliendo relic. If you don't know who Frank is, look him up on YouTube and some of his impressions. I crack up every time I see him do his Morgan Freeman or John Madden. He has many other great ones as well but those two are my favorites. He also starred on MADtv where I was introduced to him first.

I may not have ever seen it, but the actor who played Jimmy in the movie Bull Durham I have seen. William O'Leary, who has played in a handful of Movies and TV shows, was best known to me as Marty Taylor from Home Improvement. Marty was Tim Taylor's younger brother on the show.

And there you have it for now. I am sure the next mail day from Oren will arrive by the weekend and we will visit it while I am on vacation next week.

Thanks again Oren for this trade.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I thought I would close up today's post by showing off this cool sign I saw at Walmart recently. I was thinking it would fit perfectly on the kitchen table next to my laptop as I type up these posts. Maybe the next time I go if it is still there I will grab it.

Til then and until the next post, always remember it is coffee time and more so when you read this blog.

Maybe I should take that phrase and use it sort of like Home Improvement, I would just need Heidi to say, "Does anyone know what time it is?" Then you guys would need to respond "Coffee Time". That's when she goes on to say, "That's right, Green Mountain Dark Magic Decaf coffee is proud to present, Matt The Card Coffee Guy blogger!" The theme music comes on and I sit here to blog for you guys to read.

How does that sound? And please keep your eyes and mind off of Heidi while answering, unless she is the reason why you say yes.
