It's That Time Of Year Again

It's that time of year again.

*coffee is poured to warm up the body*

*sip taken*

The snow had just fallen for the first actual accumulation amount.

Which was roughly 1-3 inches, but even now it has stuck to the ground so I guess it may be staying.

It's also that time of year again where the countdown to Christmas is on! As anyone who reads this blog should know, Christmas is my favorite time of year.

(Of course I have had my decorations up before Thanksgiving.) Shhhhh! Don't tell! Or I may get Thanksgiving protestors outside of my house!

*takes a nervous sip*

And it's also that time of year again where I start new sorting projects for the dreadful winter months ahead. It's the best way to keep the distraction away from the cold and snow. Don't get me wrong though as I love a white Christmas as much as Bing Crosby, but after that, it can melt away.

Except it doesn't. It usually hangs around until end of March and even into April some years. So, I every year I create projects.

One project I kept pushing off for a while is sleeving inserts and putting them into new boxes. This was mainly because it's been tough finding time to do such a time-consuming project. Which right now I am typing about it instead of actually doing it for example.

I took one for the team this time.

It's so time consuming because first I have to sort them all by team. This goes for every sport by the way.

Then I Card Sleeve (penny sleeves) them, write the team down on a Trading Card Divider.

Then add it to this 3200 Count Storage Box. It's a long process but once I gain some momentum and find some time with it, it moves along a little faster. By little faster I am talking about a turtle to sloth speed to maybe an 80-year-old grandmother running.

Keep in mind again that I do this for four sports. Though basketball and hockey aren't as bad as football and baseball.

So far in my project, I have only completed baseball and basketball. I still have baseball and hockey to accomplish. However, I just had a box of inserts sent to me this weekend by long time reader/fan/friend Grady M that will have to be broken down into sport piles, teams and sleeved. I want to get done what I had started first then tackle his new stuff.

I also plan to show off some favorites from that Grady package as well.

This is just one of a few projects I have planned. A few others are,
  • Moving my player collections from boxes back into binders
  • Pulling all 90's inserts from ALL inserts and player collections to create a new 90's card box or binder
  • combining boxes
  • finishing up labeling binders to put into my notebook for easier looking up
That should be enough projects with everything else in my life going on to keep me busy until I can see my spring flowers beginning to pop up.

*takes a final sip before closing up today's post*

I am actually curious for those of you who get winter, how many of you create hobby projects to get by? And what are those projects? Let me know in comments.

As for me, I probably need to get off the computer and take advantage of the little time I have today and finish more up.

In the meantime, enjoy your cup of coffee. I know I will need another soon to sort.

It's The Only One

It's the only one.

You might at first think I am referring to my wife (even though she is my only one) or this morning's cup of coffee (sip taken), I am actually discussing a card I recently got in the mail.

My latest X/Twitter trade landed me one of the very few NY Giants 1/1's I own, well, outside of my Rodney Hampton collection. I have a few in there.

This trade came together and ended fast. It helped that I had traded with the person before and also had plenty of interactions with them. The only surprise was it being two years since I last traded with @kemptribe, not sure why, but it appears the wait was worth it with the whopper I landed for my Giants collection.

It's the first Laundry Tag in my Giants collection and I believe in my entire collection.

It's stunning!

Kyle Lauletta was the possible QB of the future in NY when the Giants drafted him in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

But it didn't quite work out and he bounced around a few practice squads instead. With the QB's the Giants have now, I would welcome him aboard with open arms.

I have quite a few Lauletta cards after buying into the idea he was going to be their next star QB but this one by far is now the centerpiece to that collection.

I should learn not to do that. It has happened too many times now.

I do however want to chase down this rainbow now and there isn't too much to chase. I need the following to complete it, Base Relic /100, Purple /75, Prime Yellow /25, Prime Green /10, and Super Prime Blue 1/1.

Thanks goes out to @KempTribe for our latest trade, hope the next time we won't have to wait two years but if we do, I wouldn't mind landing another only one :)

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
