Coffee Break:2021 Prizm Football Hanger Box

*sits down, gets ready for a new Cards Over Coffee post*

*takes a sip*

I have been good boy recently when it comes to retail buying. I haven't been buying. Mostly because of lack of funds but also because I am trying to make better decisions of what I collect and open. No more of the I see, I need approach. I guess you can call it "Collecting Maturity".

There are some products still though that are weak spots for me because of the rookie cards and because of the shininess.

Today's Coffee Break is just that.

Since 2012, anytime I had the opportunity to open some Prizm football I have. It's my favorite Panini football product and every year I find myself chasing certain rookie cards and whatever NY Giants parallels I could get my hands on.

So, when my father picked up two hanger boxes of Prizm, I pleaded my case for one since I hadn't found any yet.

Luckily for me, he obliged.

Here is my first Prizm football rip,

Each hanger box of 2021 Panini Prizm football comes with 20 cards. There are no guarantees other than hopefully a good time....and 4 hanger exclusive Red Ice prizms. Each hanger costs $26.

BASE:
This years base set is 440 cards deep, which is huge for Prizm. Also makes it very hard to pull the good rookies.

Especially with only one per hanger box.

I have traded for two of my rookie wants from this years set with Lawrence and Toney, but still want to chase down Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance.

INSERTS:
It's Prizm so it has a tendency to be overflowed with parallels, here are the options for inserts,
Green, Green Ice, No Huddle, Blue Ice /99, Purple Power /49, Gold /10, Gold Vinyl /5, and Black Finite 1/1.

New Recruits has 10 cards to collect in the set.

PARALLELS:
I already touched base on the insert parallels, now onto the base card parallels.

*takes a sip, this could be awhile*

Black & Red Checker, Black & White Checker, Blue, Disco, Green, Green Ice, Lazer, Light Blue, Neon Green Pulsar, Orange Ice, Pink, Purple Pulsar, Red, Red Ice, Red/White/Blue, Silver, Snakeskin, White Sparkle, Orange /249, Purple Ice /225, Blue Wave /199, Hyper /175, Red Wave /149, Purple /125, Blue Ice /99, Green Scope /75, Orange Wave /60, Purple Power /49, Red Shimmer /35, Blue Shimmer /25, Navy Camo /25, Forest Camo /15, Gold /10, Gold Shimmer /10, Gold Vinyl /5, Green Shimmer /5 AND Black Finite 1/1.
NO HUDDLE PRIZMS: Base No Huddle, Blue /79, Red /50, Purple /35, Pink /15, AND Neon Green /5.
Green

OH SNAP! What I first thought was a silver Trey Lance wasn't. However, this silver Variation Trey Lance is almost as cool and a great find.

I followed that up with Davis Mills Red Cracked Ice.

The rest of the Red Cracked Ice.

And that's it. Probably literally too.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

This was a pretty solid break with Trey Lance and Davis Mills. Not to mention I landed the Plaxico base card I needed for my Giants collection. There was nothing to complain about this break.

Thoughts on my break and Prizm welcomed in comments.

Have a great Wednesday.

Slice Of American Pie:Phelps Wins 8 Golds

*takes a sip and gets ready for another new post on Cards Over Coffee!*

In my last post in this series, I mentioned how I ran into some luck on landing some set needs for my 2011 Topps American Pie set. Today, I am showing off another add from that lot I got.

Card #192 in the set showcases one of the greatest swimmers and record-breaking swimming performances in the Summer Games where Michael Phelps took home 8 gold medals.

Here he is showing them off. I would imagine if he left these on too long his neck would ache.

Card back with a writeup on his performance.

This has also been called Phelp's rookie card by many as well. I am not sure if it technically is.

I also can't imagine having that kind of talent in water. I don't even swim personally. When I get hot in the summer, I find the closest air conditioner ...or a place that has Iced Coffee.

I still have a few more to show off from this lot coming up.

If you have any of these cards in your collection and want to check and see if I need them for my set chase, CHECK IT OUT HERE to see my needs. I am creeping closer to completion on this one.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Michael Phelps now has a total of 28 metals in his career with 23 of those being golds. It seems when this man gets in the water he is the Tom Brady of swimming.

Thoughts on today's card or Michael Phelps welcomed in comments.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Pumpkin Spice And A Prize Pack That's Nice

*prepares coffee for today's post. finally gets to use some special creamer picked up the other day and pours it*

*takes a sip*

*takes another sip*

*time for a new cards over coffee post*

You may not want to hear it, but it's pumpkin spice season.

I have already started diving into some of my favorites around this time of year. I already had a hot pumpkin spice coffee from Dunkin'.

Bought some Pumpkin Spice creamer, in today's cup, though I much rather have the CoffeeMate version as their creamer is far better than any other brands. But, apparently theirs isn't out yet. This one wasn't too bad, but not as good by any means.

And some Pumpkin Spice Oreos. These are awesome.

I am sure I will be keeping my eye out on another related treats as they release, I am most notably waiting to eat a pumpkin spice donut.

Guess you can say I am ready for fall....not winter though.

*takes a sip, then a bite of pumpkin spice Oreo*

The post title says, Pumpkin Spice which we already covered and now it's time for the Prize Pack that was nice.

I recently was lucky enough to win a prize from Johnny's Trading Spot blog just by commenting on a post.

Base card of Tony Lazzeri from Absolute. Once again, I think some Panini baseball products are very underrated.

By Storm of Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman from the same product.

And now onto some cards I don't know a lot about, but really enjoyed.

Vintage isn't something I have much of in my collection, but I do enjoy when I get my hands onto it. I mostly don't collect vintage because I don't know a lot of players other than the big names prior to 1980 since I wasn't born until 1983 and didn't do a lot of research on them either. So, those players don't mean a lot to me unlike guys from the 90's through today.

But, vintage is very cool despite my lack of knowledge on it.
If I looked at these correct, they are from 1968.

And this Dave Lopes is from 1975 and appears to be cut from something.

These 1965 Topps Embossed are by far my favorite Vintage cards. I own one other and now can add these three to it.

I did recognize or at least heard of two of the three names here. Only one I didn't was Radatz.

I would call this a solid contest win and many thanks to Johnny's Trading Spot for the contest. Please check out his blog if you haven't yet done so!

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Along with Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider is another favorite of mine as fall goes deeper. They make some pretty good Apple Cider donuts locally and I just like a nice warm cup on a cold fall day.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

In comments today, let me know your favorite Pumpkin Spice item and your favorite card from today's post!

The Funk

*a small pile of cards are nearby, laptop is open, cinnamon raisin bagel and coffee ready as well. it's time for some cards over coffee*

My internet is back finally, however, life has been crazy busy, so I haven't had a lot of time to do "card stuff" including blogging. Despite having sometime today to finally sit down and blog though, it is taking me a lot to do it. I have been feeling a little bit of funk with blogging and wanting to do it.

It's just so much work.

Uploading photos, downloading photos, then once again uploading said photos to the blog. Having to sit down and actually type up a post is about an hour. In all, it takes me roughly two hours to complete one post and to have some pictures ready for another post. That's a lot of time spent on something I don't get paid for and a lot of the times, barely get views on.

But here I am anyways spending some more of my spare time typing. I don't know why, but just felt led to do so today. Maybe it will free me from my funk but I mainly think it's because I havee mail days to catch up on and thank yous that are owed.

*takes a sip before moving on with the mail day post*

Despite the funk I have been in, the lack of internet and the busyness, I have gotten some pretty cool mail days the last few weeks.

One of those came from Blog Reader Oren who passed along some really appealing cards in our last trade.
If you have read this blog, you would know how much of a Fleer Metal fanatic I am. Even though the 1995 brand isn't nearly as cool as the later brands when it switched to Metal Universe, I still dig em.

This is another card from that set, but a parallel/insert called Silver Flasher of a flashy kind of thrower in Brett Favre. I remember watching an interview with his receivers where they were saying how hard and fast he threw and how much their hands hurt.

Speaking of Favre, this one isn't 90's, but cool designed Favre is always welcomed. I actually have a decent sized Brett collection. It's not even on purpose so now I just call it a side, side PC.

Inserts from the 90's, YES PLEASE! This is a 1995 Playoff Prime Fantasy Team that is acetate but has cool writing in the background.

1996 Laserview is a set I am chasing, I think this Neil O'Donnell is a new one towards it.

Same for these 1995 Stadium Club PowerSurge. What a cool card when you turn the card at certain angles.

Flair always had some nice looking inserts in the 90's

The iconic ZTeams of the 90's! I completed the 1996 version, just stared the 1995. I am now only two cards in haha. My hope is to complete the 1995 and 1997.

And finally, it's not often you can find new Giants cards for my collection, but when you do, it's from the 90's. Despite my love of that era and my Giants, for some reason other than Rodney Hampton, my overall collection lacks a lot of the combination of the two.

Thanks again to Oren for the Trade!

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I am hoping to at least put another new post up for tomorrow for another mail day I haven't gotten around to posting yet.

I was also hopeful that today's post, as I forced myself through it, would maybe get me out of my funk a little but it hasn't. Maybe tomorrow's post I will find the inspiration to blog more again.

Let's hope.

Thoughts on my mail day and if you have ever hit the blogging funk welcomed in comments.

Coffee Break:2022 Prestige Hobby H2 Hybrid Box (BIG HIT!!!)

*sits down with cup of steaming hot coffee in hand.*

*takes a sip and gets ready for a new Cards Over Coffee*

Football season is right around the corner!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! And nothing gets me more pumped than opening up some NEW NFL football cards before the season begins!! Yeah, there are draft football products out, but nothing tickles my coffee senses more than a new NFL release with most players updated with their new teams and rookies with at least a team logo.

One of the early season products to include these is Prestige which has been a longstanding favorite of this bloggers for quite some time.

Recently I was able to get my hands onto a box and wanted to show it off on here.

*takes a sip, prepares to rip*

Every 2022 Prestige Hobby H2 Hybrid box comes with 10 packs of 10 cards. I have never opened a hybrid box before so this was new territory for me. Each of these boxes should have 20 Rookies10 Galaxy Parallels, 10 #'d Parallels and 20 Inserts. I am not sure if these have guaranteed hits or not. Boxes currently run just under $200 depending on where you buy one.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*

BASE:
The base set is much bigger this year than past year releases. There is 300 veteran base which includes legendary players and players in updated uniforms such as Russ Wilson in a Broncos uni which is plain weird. 90 more cards make up the rookies then 10 more rookies on top of that are Sp's. Overall, there are 400 cards.

The base card design fits past designs and there are some action shots to be found.

Card back with a nice writeup, image and one year of stats. I do miss the more stats years.

Here are a couple more base card image sneaks. Legendary players and rookies that are featured in college unis but have team color scheme and team logos.

PARALLELS:
You can find the following parallels in 2022 Prestige football,
XTRA POINTS PARALLELS: Astral, Diamond, Dots, Galaxy, Sunburst, Red /449, Blue /299, Green /249, Purple /199, Gold /99, Orange /75, Pink /50, Platinum /25, and Black 1/1.
XTRA POINTS PREMIUM PARALLELS: Red /449, Blue /299, Green /249, Purple /199, Gold /99, Orange /75, Pink /50, Platinum /25, and Black 1/1.
Galaxy parallels

Red /449

Gold /99

Purple /199 (sweet PC card)

Green /249

Blue /299

Blue /299

(side note, notice the difference in the blues, the shiny one is the Premium parallel. so two same numbered colored parallels, two different looks)

Platinum /25

Red /449

Not too bad for numbered parallels.

INSERTS:
Inserts may have the following parallels,
Red /449, Blue /299, Green /249, Purple /149, Gold /99, Orange /75, Pink /50, Platinum /25, and Black 1/1.
Youth Movement have the young guys from last years draft.  There are 20 cards in all to collect.

Franchise Favorites have 15 cards in the set to collect.

Any Given Sunday includes those guys who could pull out the last minute win when it counts. 20 of these guys are in the set to collect. Of course for me Eli was the most important one and I now have in via trade. You will have to follow Big Blue Cardboard to view that card.

20 cards of those guys you want to watch make up the Hightlight Reel checklist.

Prestigous Pros 25 card set returns once again to Prestige.

15 cards in the Heroes insert set. Other than the Unleashed insert, Marvel Insert, this is my third favorite insert Panini makes. Kupp is a Blue /299.

10 cards in the Time Stamped insert.

Living Legends, hopefully I can add the Eli Manning to my PC soon. There are 30 of these to collect.

25 cards make up the Power House insert.

Ranking as my 4th favorite Panini insert are these Season's Greetings. There are 25 cards to collect and the design is basically the same as last years. I am okay with that. I wished they would do NFL versions.

*takes a quick coffee break before moving onto the final card of the box, which was actually pulled in the first pack*

HITS:

I am not sure if these are guaranteed or not, but you can't go wrong landing a top draft pick autograph!! BOOM SHAKALAKA! This is also on-card. I think these were signed at the RPS.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
I liked this year's product again, especially the shiny inserts and parallels.

The box price on these is quite steep with no actual guarantees and that worries me. However, there are retail options for Prestige such as blaster boxes that are just as much fun but cheaper options (under $30).
