On The Good List

Every Year, Santa Dennis from Too Many Verlanders brings the joy of Christmas to many different mailboxes of those who have been good little girls and boys.

I am happy to say I am always on the good list and have been one of those lucky recipients for many years.

By being on the good list and getting one of these mail days, you will find yourself immersed with a little bit of everything from your PC as Santa Dennis keeps track of your "lists".

I was good enough to add some Ken Griffey Jr. Both of us collect Junior so I am sure he sends me his dupes and I reciprocate when I can.

90's inserts were up next.

This was one of my favorite designs for Wave Of The Future and is one of my many set chases.

Then there as this Die-Cut, Acetate, wonderful piece of art.

I considered chasing this set, I still might, such a stunner. Feels very American baseball.

The 90's was followed by some non-sport.
Can't touch this.

And never tell me the odds that Santa Dennis knew I needed these.

After these two, well, had me feeling blue. In a good list kind of way.
Well except seeing a new Saquon. I still collect former Giants in blue, but he makes me sad with the season he has had.

90's, new, set material and a Giant. Wow.

Team color match-trippy card, love it.

I have wanted this card for a while. We will ignore the player's name and just look at it as the card. I really think the theme and background is where it's at with this one.

I was in double shock(ey) with these two. I must have been double good this year.

Not many remember that I collect Paul Perkins as a bigger side Giants PC, but Santa Dennis does.

And finally it wouldn't be Christmas or a gift from Santa Dennis if...

there wasn't an ugly sweater involved. Been needing this one for a while as I have been trying to finish up this dual relic set. Now just need the rest of them!

Thanks again Dennis for your generosity around the holidays again.

I will make sure to stay on the good list again for next year.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Oren's Birthday Surprise

If you are ever wonder what I look like when my coffee mug is empty, just refer to this card. That's my face staring into the empty bottom of the mug.

And this is me when the refill is out of reach.

Luckily for you guys today, I am in neither situation and instead you get some coffee, cards and fun.

*takes a sip*

These two cards come along with many others thanks to a birthday gift from long time reader and friend, Oren. These are two from a small pile of Lord Of The Ring cards he sent in the bubbler along with...

This one. I have no idea what this card is, but it's cool and becomes the oldest card in my non-sports PC.

Mikaela Shiffrin! Metal Universe from Upper Deck doesn't get enough hobby love, but that's okay, I appreciate it and it's well crafted inserts.

Not sure if Oren knew this or not, but I have been chasing this 1998 set for a while now. He sent two base and then this red parallel.

Upper Deck Spider-Man No Way Home! This set just released recently. I really want to open some, in the meantime, these base cards will do!

This is my first Andrew Garfield Spider-Man card.
Is there anything wrong with adding more Marisa Tomei cards....nope!

Zendaya!

\
A stack of Golden Age, maybe I can fill my set now.

Two unopened packs...that I will be opening. Since I retired Sport Card Collectors, I am planning to carry over some of the segments from there to here including Throwpack Thursday.

Jimmy Pardo relic. Not anyone in particular I know, but I still like having non-sport relics regardless.

I don't know what this Graham Bell relic is, but it's cool.

I am starting to think that companies like Pieces Of The Past and Leaf are making better products then the big companies. If only licenses could be shared like the old days.

I know, it's probably a sin to post Giants cards on here since I promised to only post those on Big Blue Cardboard, but this times an exception because it's one mail day. Quincy Roche was an autograph need for me so glad I can cross it off.

Is Oren trying to tell me I need to start up a Ron Dayne PC....second new autograph add of his. I have never seen this autograph card before, I like it.

Darius Slayton is underrated. He is a spectacular speedster of a Wide Receiver who just needs a quarterback.

Giants draft one.

And the final card.....
Holy Smokes! A Saquon Barkley rookie numbered parallel!!!! This will go great with my base and the red, white, blue one I have. It's just too bad of his choice of team in free agency. I will enjoy my cards of him in Giants blue, but hate him at the same time. I will be rooting against him this season.

Thanks again to Oren for the birthday gift! I really appreciate you and the encouraging note you sent along as well.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I had a quiet birthday as expected, but this package brought some excitement to it. It was all the party I needed.

Now I just need more coffee and maybe some breakfast.

Before I close, I also wanted to remind you of the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame voting and that it needs you guys to nominate cards in. So far, ONLY 3 cards have been nominated!!

Details on the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame can be found HERE. I may add this to every post from here on out for a reminder as I will forget about this too! Haha!

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

I Got One, Pulled A Hit!

Coffee ready, bran muffin in hand (I am 40, you need extra bran in your diet at this age), and laptop and cards ready. You know what that means, it's time for a NEW post on Cards Over Coffee!!

One of the things I was hoping most for this Christmas, was some products to open. ANY.

Especially new football product.

Every year I hunt down new Giants cards from products and try to get one rookie card of every player, but 2023 was tough financially and 2024 is heading down a worse path so far.

My 2023 football collection is lacking guys like CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, Bijan Robinson, Puka Nacua and others. Not something I usually face at this time of year as I usually have my rookies all set. But now that Prizm has released I kind of like to get those rookies first, but would take any from any product to start out with. The Prizm rookies will be added to my Most Wanted list soon along with some rookies I need as well from baseball and basketball.

Now that I got that out there, I was lucky enough to open up one blaster from the Mrs this Christmas of new football product and felt pretty good about it.

I didn't pull any of the rookies I listed above but did pull some decent stuff. Or at least in my opinion.

A couple new Giants cards for the PC. I get excited about pulling PC cards even if they are just base.

Diamond Parallels. Nothing too great there, but always enjoy the look of the look of the Prestige parallels.

The GOAT of all-time running backs. Nobody will ever beat Barry, if only he hadn't played for a franchise that never won a Super Bowl for him.

Georget Kittle insert.

One doesn't quite fit with this receiving trio

Was a terrible ending to this game, but we got them back in the playoffs where it mattered more.

Shiny! I need the Barkley like this.

The GOAT of WR's. Nobody will be Jerry either.

And the biggest surprise came in the very first pack I opened,

An autograph! Not sure who Jay Ward is or the odds of pulling an autograph in the product, but I always get excited when pulling something unexpected. It's as great as someone bringing you a cup of coffee you weren't expecting.

Thanks to my wife for this box.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I have decided as I typed this, I might do a post as directly on my Most Wanted list. I don't think anyone ever checks it and maybe one of you has something I might need from it.

But, first coffee. Well, first I need to finish up on these Christmas posts. Still a few more to go then posts will be fresher than my newly poured cup of coffee.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
