Surprised With Goodies

*sits down with a big bubbler from a surprise mail day that arrived*

*saw where the surprise came from knew it was going to be good*

*takes a sip of nearby coffee*

*takes another*

*slowly opens up the package and begins to dig through the impressive mail day. sorts it out, takes pictures, uploads and then begins to type*

I have been averaging roughly one mail day per week, but last week I had four arrive on the same day. Not just a single card PWE either, these were actual packages.

One of those mail days was an unexpected surprise from Dennis from Too Many Verlanders Blog, who usually lets me know when something is coming so I had no idea what this was.

That answer came after I opened it, and I was awestruck.

First, there was oversized cards from players I collect.

Two oversized Kerry Collins.

Oversized Super Bowl Showdowns featuring Super Bowl winner Phil Simms.

Then came offerings from my main three PC's. Starting off with some non-sport,
A stack of Batman which should help my base set chase, though I am still miles away.

A fun mix of singers and actors here.

An opened pack of Gunsmoke, but I kept the cards in it so I wouldn't ruin them or ruin the packaging further. This is a unique add.

TMNT! Still need a ton of this base set and the other movie/cartoon cards.

90210, I used to watch this with my grandmother occasionally. I can feel the 90's screaming at me.

X-Men movie cards.

Country Gold cards. There was a decent stack of these as well. Landed a few of the ones I wanted including Hank Williams Jr, but still missing Shania Twain as my most wanted from this set.

The next card was one I claimed from one of his posts. It's not so much for the Giambi aspect as it is the 90's parallel aspect. Beautiful card.

Then came a decent sized stack of Giants, the others I will need to double check to see if I have (I also didn't have enough space on this post to post everything) but these ones for sure I didn't. I really like the Cruz pink especially for October and Breast Cancer Awareness month.

And I am not sure about this, but I think that Dennis must have checked my wants on TCDB and landed me a new relic for my Eli collection. I will have to update numbers again soon on him. But, in order for you to see those, you will need to read Big Blue Cardboard, my NY Giants card blog.

I will always take and welcome Plaxico Burress autographs, in a Giants uniform. He ranks up there as one of my all-time favorite Giants receivers and he also was a big reason why they went on a run and won Super Bowl 42.

The next card is another nice addition to the Andre Williams collection. Nice patch card that I don't have.

And the final card in this mail day is a new one for the non-sport relic collection, a Erik Estrada swatch. I didn't have a relic or autograph of the former CHiPs star so one item down, another to go.

Thanks again to the exceptional Dennis for this mail day. I really enjoyed every part of it.

*bows towards computer to Dennis*

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

This mail day was definitely loaded with lots of great stuff. The only thing missing was coffee I could drink as I sorted through it. But, I took care of that on my end.

Not sure if you can send coffee brewed.

The Blogger National 2023

*sits down, takes a sip of coffee. opens keyboard, begins to type today's newest post*

Last year I posted a Blogger National for those of us who can't enjoy the experience of actually being at the The National Sport Collectors Convention. That way we can still connect with one another without spending the big bucks to do so. Though I would love to sit down, have a cup of coffee and talk cards with you.

*takes a sip, tips mug towards computer screen hoping you will return the favor*

I am a few days late on posting this year's Blogger National, but I am still hoping you all will still participate in this blog bat-around.

What is the Blogger National? Well, it's a blog-bat-around where you just take one post (or multiple if you so choose) in the next few days and dedicate it to showing off your coolest cards or your most favorite cards or a recent mail day you hadn't posted yet using the blog post title, The Blogger National 2023.

I want you to try to find the cards that are show worthy to you. You know, the dazzling cards that would attract all of the people over to your table (blog).

I received some show worthy cards in a few of my recent mail days.

*takes a sip before continuing on with today's post*

I am not sure why, but I felt drawn to needing an Indiana Jones rookie. Maybe because of the new movie or maybe because I was a fan. I am looking forward to watching the new movie at some point.

I didn't have a Zebra parallel in my collection before and now to own one of the league's best running back and of a Giant, I am happy. I acquired this one in a trade on Twitter.

This card I have been wanting a very long time. Great moment in Knicks history by my favorite Knicks player.....and it's shiny. This came from a long time Twitter friend.

And finally, along with the Allan Houston above, I was given this 2001 Kerry Collins E-X Essential Credentials /299. Great 90's parallel, not as exciting of a 2000's insert but still a need.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I am hopeful many of you will join in on this. Usually my Blog-Bat-Arounds go nowhere but maybe this one will catch your attention. Last year was no to very little turnout but I am trying again!

And for those of you who read this and don't have a blog, feel free to post your cards on social media and use the hashtag, #TheBloggerNational2023. I will be on the lookout for that hashtag on all social media platforms. Well, except TikTok. I haven't joined that at all yet and don't plan to.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Too Many Cards (not really)

*sits down, laptop is fully charged, coffee is ready and now it's time for cards over coffee*

A couple of weeks ago, Too Many Verlanders blog sent me a package that contained a lot of great cards and being behind on blogging, I haven't had the chance to show them off until today.

Dennis, as many other bloggers and former bloggers know, sends out some of the most generous and fun filled mail days out there.

Not that some of you others don't.

This time I was in shock as I continued to dig through the package as he just about hit up every part of my PC and hit it up well from shows he had gone to.

I sure hope you are ready and have your coffee in hand as I reveal this one. There were so many cards I had to group some.
Lots of G-Men.

More here (yes a Yankees insert is hiding in the top corner)

And even more Gmen! (that Hilliard is awesome)

Danny Dimes. Panini doesn't do a lot of things right with cards, but they did these photos right.

Kerry Collins

90's numbered cards (to be fair, I knew these were coming because I claimed them)

J-Dom. One of the very few Yankees I still collect and both of these are new to that collection.

90's insert (bonus it's a Yankee)

You would think the cards above were enough, me to, but then came more! And of course I always appreciate Too Many Cards (and hope you all appreciate my play on his blog name)

This time some NY Giants hits and you want to know the crazy part, I have 6,000+ Giants cards and not a single one of these hits was a dupe. That's impressive. He either had intuition or stood outside my bedroom window watching me drink coffee and sort them. Either way, I am good with it.
Great Expectations from Illusions of Darius Slayton. I have great expectations of him this upcoming season.

Rookies and Stars NFL Authentic of Slayton.

Eli Manning manufactured Throwback Patch

Optic Donruss Threads of Sterling Shepard.

Finest Autograph rookie of Steve Smith.

Jerrel Jernigan Topps Chrome autograph.

Was this the end of this mail day? Nope. There were two more cards in this very loaded Too Many Cards I appreciated mail day.
Gary Sanchez manufactured MLB Commemorative patch.

And then this Game Floor piece of Shareef Abdur-Rahim that he had in his trade bait blog post I couldn't just leave there. I love unique relics and this for sure was one of those.

Thanks again to Dennis for his generosity and I hope you enjoyed what I sent you as much as I enjoyed this one.

*takes a sip and begins to sort these out with the other Giants cards*

*looks out the window to see if Dennis is there*

Hope everyone has a great day and thoughts on my mail day welcomed in comments.

Finished Cup:1995 Fleer NFL Prospects

*sits down, takes a sip and gets ready for a new post on Cards Over Coffee*

Coffee and Cards, any better way to start the day? You better say there isn't. Because there isn't.

I finally have been putting a focus on finishing up some of my sets or at least adding to them. The more I see prices of today's cards continuing to rise, the more I look back on cards from my past and knowing it's time to put more of my focus back onto them.

Which is why I was able to finish picking up the final card, yes I waited this long to add one card, to my 1995 Fleer NFL Prospects set.

I know you saw the words 1995 Fleer and probably gagged some, but, I loved that product. Especially the inserts which is why I am chasing everything from the 1995 product including the base.

*takes a sip*
John Walsh from the Cincinatti Bengals was the final card I needed to finish up the 20-card set and was found for under $2. NFL Prospects fell 1:6 packs and featured a funtastic (is this really a word?) background with a mix of rough and gloss feel.

The set featured some of the top picks of the 1995 NFL Draft. (yes that's my boy Kerry Collins above)

These cards that scream 90's look even better in a binder side by side.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

It's such a relief to finish up this long time set chase and I recently just finished up another just as long. Soon, I will be posting that one along with some other Unfinished Cups that maybe some of you can help with. Who likes to have an unfinished cup????

Thoughts on this set welcomed in comments below.

Have a great Monday!
