I Got One, Pulled A Hit!

Coffee ready, bran muffin in hand (I am 40, you need extra bran in your diet at this age), and laptop and cards ready. You know what that means, it's time for a NEW post on Cards Over Coffee!!

One of the things I was hoping most for this Christmas, was some products to open. ANY.

Especially new football product.

Every year I hunt down new Giants cards from products and try to get one rookie card of every player, but 2023 was tough financially and 2024 is heading down a worse path so far.

My 2023 football collection is lacking guys like CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, Bijan Robinson, Puka Nacua and others. Not something I usually face at this time of year as I usually have my rookies all set. But now that Prizm has released I kind of like to get those rookies first, but would take any from any product to start out with. The Prizm rookies will be added to my Most Wanted list soon along with some rookies I need as well from baseball and basketball.

Now that I got that out there, I was lucky enough to open up one blaster from the Mrs this Christmas of new football product and felt pretty good about it.

I didn't pull any of the rookies I listed above but did pull some decent stuff. Or at least in my opinion.

A couple new Giants cards for the PC. I get excited about pulling PC cards even if they are just base.

Diamond Parallels. Nothing too great there, but always enjoy the look of the look of the Prestige parallels.

The GOAT of all-time running backs. Nobody will ever beat Barry, if only he hadn't played for a franchise that never won a Super Bowl for him.

Georget Kittle insert.

One doesn't quite fit with this receiving trio

Was a terrible ending to this game, but we got them back in the playoffs where it mattered more.

Shiny! I need the Barkley like this.

The GOAT of WR's. Nobody will be Jerry either.

And the biggest surprise came in the very first pack I opened,

An autograph! Not sure who Jay Ward is or the odds of pulling an autograph in the product, but I always get excited when pulling something unexpected. It's as great as someone bringing you a cup of coffee you weren't expecting.

Thanks to my wife for this box.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I have decided as I typed this, I might do a post as directly on my Most Wanted list. I don't think anyone ever checks it and maybe one of you has something I might need from it.

But, first coffee. Well, first I need to finish up on these Christmas posts. Still a few more to go then posts will be fresher than my newly poured cup of coffee.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Who Is Right?

Going to need a strong cup for today's post and luckily, I have one next to me.

If you were to see my eBay saved search list, you would see exactly what you would expect from me. 90's inserts, Rodney Hampton, Charles Way, non-sports, some oddballs and Eli Manning.

I check these searches multiple times a day and have caught some good deals in that process.

But, none better than this one I thought I had landed back in September of 2022.

At first glance, it appeared as a base Any Given Sunday insert of Eli Manning from 2022 Prestige. It was a card I needed and at the time the price was right.

As I clicked on the picture of the listing, I like to blow it up to see if there is any damage before I purchase, I started to notice something off to the side.

It was a 1/1 version of the card! Wowzers! My first Eli Manning 1/1 card and I landed it for under $10! To say the least, I felt like a kid being set free down the toy aisle at Walmart.

I couldn't even sleep that night. It was like I had caffeine in my coffee again. Boy, do I miss those days.

When I woke up still in disbelief of my purchase the next morning, I went to look at it again and that's when I saw this.

REFUNDED??!?!?! What?! Why?!! I didn't request this.

So, I messaged the seller.

Here was his response,

Keep in mind I use my wife's account for eBay which is why it is addressed to her.

Either way, I don't agree with his response, and I never replied because I may not have been friendly. So instead, I will post about them on here. I worked in retail for seven years and we were always told the customer was always right even when we marked something wrong. So, if they made an honest mistake, they should have stuck with it, learned from it, shipped it, and not refunded.

This is just my opinion on this. You guys may have different feelings about this, especially those of you who actually sell. I know if I made this mistake and sold cards on eBay, I would have shipped it. I have lost out on trades before when I made a mistake. But, I have learned from it.

Let me know in comments who is right. Is the buyer right in this situation? Is the seller right? What would you have done on either side of this situation?

Now I am all worked up again. I may need a second cup after this post and maybe a third when I read your replies.

Hope you are enjoying your day...I was until this post brought back this memory.

Coffee Break:2022 Prestige Hobby H2 Hybrid Box (BIG HIT!!!)

*sits down with cup of steaming hot coffee in hand.*

*takes a sip and gets ready for a new Cards Over Coffee*

Football season is right around the corner!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! And nothing gets me more pumped than opening up some NEW NFL football cards before the season begins!! Yeah, there are draft football products out, but nothing tickles my coffee senses more than a new NFL release with most players updated with their new teams and rookies with at least a team logo.

One of the early season products to include these is Prestige which has been a longstanding favorite of this bloggers for quite some time.

Recently I was able to get my hands onto a box and wanted to show it off on here.

*takes a sip, prepares to rip*

Every 2022 Prestige Hobby H2 Hybrid box comes with 10 packs of 10 cards. I have never opened a hybrid box before so this was new territory for me. Each of these boxes should have 20 Rookies10 Galaxy Parallels, 10 #'d Parallels and 20 Inserts. I am not sure if these have guaranteed hits or not. Boxes currently run just under $200 depending on where you buy one.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*

BASE:
The base set is much bigger this year than past year releases. There is 300 veteran base which includes legendary players and players in updated uniforms such as Russ Wilson in a Broncos uni which is plain weird. 90 more cards make up the rookies then 10 more rookies on top of that are Sp's. Overall, there are 400 cards.

The base card design fits past designs and there are some action shots to be found.

Card back with a nice writeup, image and one year of stats. I do miss the more stats years.

Here are a couple more base card image sneaks. Legendary players and rookies that are featured in college unis but have team color scheme and team logos.

PARALLELS:
You can find the following parallels in 2022 Prestige football,
XTRA POINTS PARALLELS: Astral, Diamond, Dots, Galaxy, Sunburst, Red /449, Blue /299, Green /249, Purple /199, Gold /99, Orange /75, Pink /50, Platinum /25, and Black 1/1.
XTRA POINTS PREMIUM PARALLELS: Red /449, Blue /299, Green /249, Purple /199, Gold /99, Orange /75, Pink /50, Platinum /25, and Black 1/1.
Galaxy parallels

Red /449

Gold /99

Purple /199 (sweet PC card)

Green /249

Blue /299

Blue /299

(side note, notice the difference in the blues, the shiny one is the Premium parallel. so two same numbered colored parallels, two different looks)

Platinum /25

Red /449

Not too bad for numbered parallels.

INSERTS:
Inserts may have the following parallels,
Red /449, Blue /299, Green /249, Purple /149, Gold /99, Orange /75, Pink /50, Platinum /25, and Black 1/1.
Youth Movement have the young guys from last years draft.  There are 20 cards in all to collect.

Franchise Favorites have 15 cards in the set to collect.

Any Given Sunday includes those guys who could pull out the last minute win when it counts. 20 of these guys are in the set to collect. Of course for me Eli was the most important one and I now have in via trade. You will have to follow Big Blue Cardboard to view that card.

20 cards of those guys you want to watch make up the Hightlight Reel checklist.

Prestigous Pros 25 card set returns once again to Prestige.

15 cards in the Heroes insert set. Other than the Unleashed insert, Marvel Insert, this is my third favorite insert Panini makes. Kupp is a Blue /299.

10 cards in the Time Stamped insert.

Living Legends, hopefully I can add the Eli Manning to my PC soon. There are 30 of these to collect.

25 cards make up the Power House insert.

Ranking as my 4th favorite Panini insert are these Season's Greetings. There are 25 cards to collect and the design is basically the same as last years. I am okay with that. I wished they would do NFL versions.

*takes a quick coffee break before moving onto the final card of the box, which was actually pulled in the first pack*

HITS:

I am not sure if these are guaranteed or not, but you can't go wrong landing a top draft pick autograph!! BOOM SHAKALAKA! This is also on-card. I think these were signed at the RPS.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
I liked this year's product again, especially the shiny inserts and parallels.

The box price on these is quite steep with no actual guarantees and that worries me. However, there are retail options for Prestige such as blaster boxes that are just as much fun but cheaper options (under $30).

Write Your Story

*takes a sip, sets down mug next to laptop. grabs a handful of cards off from the counter and gets ready for a new Cards Over Coffee*

Some people tell me I have lived an incredible story from those knowing where I came from and what I had to deal with and where I am today. It's something I take pride in as I continue to write my story and move forward every day.

I am sure my story doesn't even come close to what some others may have gone through, could go through or are going through right now. Everybody's story is different.

Just like the story of today's athlete who went from a nobody to a Super Bowl champ and Hall Of Famer. Let me introduce you to, Mr. Kurt Warner.

*takes a sip before moving onto the card portion of today's post.*

*stomach starts to growl sounding like cookie monster when he is munching on a handful of cookies*

*gets up, grabs a handful of trail mix to make the tummy happy until breakfast is cooked*

*sits back down, continues on with the post*

Kurt Warner dreamed of being an NFL QB but his journey wasn't easy. He had to write his own story of never giving up. He went from practice squad releasee with the Packers to working at a grocery store then played in the AFL, signed a futures contract with the Rams and played in the NFL Europe league, and was given his once in a lifetime opportunity due to an injury to the Rams starting QB Trent Green in 1999. Now Kurt knew it was showtime and he put on a show that season. He actually put on the Greatest Show...On Turf. He was league MVP, led the Rams to a Super Bowl win and was the Super Bowl MVP. Kurt wrote his own story and his perseverance and God led life brought him this moment.

Of course, Kurt's story didn't end there. It was just the beginning.

Kurt had a rough 2000 season before leading the Rams back to the Super Bowl in 2001 vs the Patriots where Tom Brady's Super Bowl winning ways began.

2002 and 2003 were terrible seasons for Kurt and he was even replaced as the Rams starting QB and was cut in 2004 where two days later, he became a member of the NY Giants. Kurt started the season as the team's starting QB and led the team to a 5-2 start. After losing the next two games, Kurt was replaced by some guy named Eli Manning and there began his career while Kurts was about to take another turn.

Warner signed with the Cardinals in 2005, led them to the post season twice with up and down performances but helped them reach the Super Bowl where they lost to the Steelers.

Despite the ups and downs, Kurt never gave up. He wrote his NFL story all the way to the Hall Of Fame. He also showed his faith in God along the way as well.

I have always been a fan of Kurt's story and recently added some cards from Burbank Sportcards Marketplace of him.

*takes a sip before showing off the cards*

*grabs another handful of trail mix before cookie monster continues to grumble*

My Giants collection has always been a little lacking in the Kurt Warner department so I found some to add.

Career Colors showcasing Kurt across his multiple teams

A couple Upper Deck cards.

It says Cardinals on the card, but clearly he is wearing blue.

A couple more

Can't go wrong with Ultra photography and a Gold Medallion parallel

Shiny!

And my favorite add, this Spectra

Don't forget you too can score cards from Burbank Sportcards Marketplace and save 10% by using code 15BURBANK at checkout to do so! Also spend $50 and you will get free shipping. Link is in this paragraph.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

We are the only ones that can write our own story. If our story is not going the way we want it to, make a change, say a prayer and write it the way you want it.

By the way, the story of Kurt's life can be seen on the big screen with the movie, American Underdog.

In comments, say something about your story, or about Kurt Warner or today's cards.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
