Boy Meets World

The 90's had some of the best television shows and a lot tackled subject matter that most wouldn't dare to tackle today because let's be honest, everyone gets offended easily.

It's just society today.

I am just glad I grew up when I did.

Boy Meets World was one of those shows and it tackled a variety of issues that faced most kids/teenagers including family, friends, death, school, love, drugs/alcohol and more. It had both a comedic and serious side with lessons learned in every episode on topics you felt were real.

It was one of my favorites that came on the TGIF block, not that I didn't call all of the shows on TGIF my favorite. The show ran for 7 years from 1993-2000.

When I discovered that 2024 Topps Allen And Ginter had included some of the actors autographs from the show in the product, I knew I had to chase them down.

So, I did.

After a few trades and a couple eBay purchases with my gift cards, I was able to complete what I wanted to.
Up first was this Will Friedle autograph, who played the main character, Corey Matthews, "air headed" brother Eric.

Up next was Rider Strong, who was Shawn Hunter Corey Matthews best friend.

And finally...
Most boys who grew up in the 90's had a crush on Topanga, Corey Matthews love interest. She was played by Danielle Fishel.

I had a crush, but she wasn't my top chase. That was Amy Jo Johnson, the Pink Ranger.

I also found out that two of the actors also had relic cards. Sadly not Topanga.

I landed both of those as well (currently I misplaced the Rider Strong relic and can't find it grrr)

All three also have base (just landed all three in trades) with minis (have Topanga only) and parallels. This chase could be deeper, but I am happy with what I have for now.

They sure don't make shows like they used to. I am glad I grew up in an era of great cartoons, movies, shows and afterschool specials. I think all of them shifted me into being the person I am today.

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday.

  1. Very cool set. I'm sure that a lot of collectors who grew up in the 90's were excited to see these actors in A&G. I think I missed the Boy Meets World generation by about 5 to 10 years. I know I saw a show here and there, but it wasn't a regular show I watched.

  2. I loved this show along with Family Matters and Step by Step. I grew up in the heyday of TGIF I was excited to see that some of the cast of Boy Meets World had cards in Ginter. Its too bad they didn't get Ben Savage and William Daniels into the product, but we can't have everything. I haven't picked up any of the cards yet, so I'll live vicariously through your post for now.
