Feeling The Heat

I am not sure what is hotter, the 90-degree temperatures outside, the cup of coffee that sits in front of me or my recent mail days from fellow bloggers.

Let's just say out of those three things, only one I can tolerate.

*takes a burning sip...ouch*

I hate losing cards, but apparently I did that again losing all four of my base 2015 Topps Allen&Ginter Impractical Jokers cards. I was trying to find a way to get them back and thought of people who may have opened a decent amount of Allen&Ginter. One blogger came to mind immediately, Nachos Grande.

 a
He didn't have all four, but did have two of them which getting any back was great.

Especially when it's Joe who is my favorite Joker.

The Murr isn't a base, but is a cool Mini. I may still seek the base but now have an extra cool collectible. This time I will place them in a binder and not in a messy card room.

Thanks again Chris! I will hit you back when I have time to dive into the boxes I need to.

Oh, and if any of you have the other two, I need or three if it's a Murr base, hit me up at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance!

Up next, I got a surprise mail day in the mail from Gavin at Baseball Card Breakdown who sent some really cool items. Cooler than this cup of coffee still is for sure.
It was great to hear from Gavin again since it had been so long.

But he still nailed everything I collect.

I don't collect a lot of Yankees anymore, but Jeter I do. He will always be my favorite Yankee. These customs are super nice and high-quality work.

I didn't know these had refractors, and definitely wouldn't have guessed they are numbered, this one is /100.

Dexy! He is the best player on the Giants, I think. He will be once again a dominant force this upcoming season.

I don't think the Giants gave Hill enough time as he has played well for Cincy, but I will always accept his cards in blue.

The last card he sent which apparently got deleted on here or melted off from here because of the sun, was a numbered Ottis Anderson Prime Signatures card.

Thanks for the surprise mail day Gavin! I actually mailed yours out today, hope you enjoy, I have been holding stuff for you for a while.

*takes a sip, burns tongue again before finishing up today's post*

I sure hope this cup of coffee cools down, but most importantly the weather. I don't like the heat. However, I do like the heat/fire that the bloggers send out, that's the only kind I will welcome.

The Unicorn Of Bloggers

The Unicorn; Informal definition, "the term unicorn is used to describe someone or something that is very rare and almost impossible to find".

I consider myself that when it comes to being a sports card blogger.

About 99% of the blogosphere is built up of baseball card collectors, a sport I don't dabble much into anymore other than Ken Griffey Jr, 90's inserts and a couple of NY Yankees players. I guess that makes me the other 1%.

So, when it comes to exchanging cards with fellow bloggers in the mail, things can get a bit more complicated since I don't have "that baseball team" like the other bloggers.

Despite the challenge, my latest mail day from Night Owl Cards showed that these types of exchanges can still take place despite me being that unicorn.

Just check out what he sent,

I think I made a comment about this Mondesi in one of his posts. Great 90's insert back when creativity was top shelf. These were found 1:30-1:36 packs depending on hobby or retail.

This is a nice tribute to the 1998 insert, I will take it. Volpe has also shown some bright spots.

I have the Griffey, the Frank Thomas and now own the Piazza. Such a cool looking insert. I am thinking it's set chase time. These fell 1:12 packs in 1997 Fleer.

I got quite a few of these from my father and surprisingly did not have this Piazza version. Each player has nine cards in the set.

Own The Game is a tribute to a past Topps insert line, they look really nice in hand. Nicer than the pictures I posted or ones I have seen online. I also won't ever turn away Aaron Judge cards. Love his story and his game.

Mining For Gold fell 1:12 packs of 1996 Metal Universe. It's shiny, gold nugget goodness.

I like inserts outside the usual; this is one of them. Once again, inserts in the 90's will always rule over today's stuff. These fell 1:8 packs.

I have always been a big Fleer Metal fan, this 1:8 insert falls into my category of a keeper.

Thanks again for the mail day Greg!

I was really happy with everything you sent and sorry for my unicorness (if this is even a word) which made your search a little harder.

I have more many Dodgers to send your way soon, just for a heads up.

Never Forget To Say Thanks

I don't know how the rest of you were raised, but I was raised to always say thank you.

I say thank you after any compliment. I say thank you after any gift big, small and sometimes unwanted. I say thank you for anyone holding the door open. I say thank you for someone who just serviced my car I say thank you to nurses, teachers, doctors and people working at a grocery store. I say thank you to anyone offering me coffee. I say thank you to the mail man who delivered a fun pwe to my door and now I am going to say thank you to the person who sent it.

Thanks Jon From A Penny Sleeve For Your Thoughts.

Thank you for the Victor Cruz Topps Tek that is numbered to 50.

Thank you for Eli Manning #1,152.

Thank you for this Russell Wilson that bleeds Giants colors in the background.

Thanks for this really nice Frank Gifford card.

And thanks for the set help.

Also, thanks for being a good friend Jon.

I sure hope most of you say thank you for as often as you can. Two simple words can mean a lot to someone as it lets them know you appreciate what they just did. Think about how you feel when someone tells you that. Let that sink in.

As always, thank you for coming to read this blog...with coffee hopefully. Thanks for trying to offer me some through the computer screen too.

Looney For This Mail Day

Wow! What a busy week it has been.

*insert coffee sip*

Family and fun filled the week.

I expect more of this as May turns to June and as the summer rolls on. I may be spending a lot less time in the blogging world and more time in the family world.

The way it should be.

But family left today back to Tennessee, and not only do I have to pack up almost 10 PWE mail days from giveaways and trades I did, but to also get the one draft I have in my Cards Over Coffee drafts posted.

The one draft has been sitting in there for almost a week and includes my latest trade mail day with reader friend Oren.

Yeah, I cut back on collecting Yankees like I posted in my last post on here, but I am sooooo collecting 90's cards of them.

I do have this card, but didn't mind having another. I actually have this set coming up in a Unfinished Sets post as I am only missing one card to completion.

90's inserts at their finest. When I say I am looking to trade for 90's inserts, this card alone is a prime example of what I want.

Another 90's insert. Not as appealing as the last, but I still take 'em!

DJ Hall rookie

Then came some surprise cards in our trade.

And they are exactly what I looked for in cards.

Looney Tunes+classic 90's designs. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

(will he ever be caught?)

(looks like my ex)

(we all want a granny in our life)

And then he threw these in,
The 1998 Fleer Diamond Ink Exchange Program

Back of the card is 1 point. Once you collect 500 points you get an autographed baseball of the player on the front.

Great promotion, great way to sell cards. However, I can't imagine too many collectors actually were able to pull off this. With so many names and so many points needed, that would have been near impossible.

Thanks, Oren, for another fun mail day. Hope you have some more of those Looney Tunes cards kicking around, I really liked those. Would love some of the inserts and parallels too!

Hope everyone has a fun Friday and weekend.

BLOG CROSSOVER EVENT 2: First Pitch

If you don't read Sport Card Collectors, you will have missed what today's post is all about. To recap quickly, I am doing a three-blog crossover event similar to how TV shows do theirs.

Today's post is Part Two of a mail day from blog reader/friend Oren. Part One can ONLY be seen on Sport Card Collectors blog HERE and Part Three will be done on Big Blue Cardboard.

Now that I got that information out, onto your usually coffee drinking program.

*takes a sip*

I wished I had time to not only blog more, but to get my collection a little better sorted especially when it comes to my set chases.

Most I don't have want lists for and some have cards not even in the same place.

It's a mess....like the coffee I just spilled.

*gets up, grabs a napkin and cleans up the mess. throws away napkin, sits back down for rest of the post*

*takes sip of what remains*

One of the many sets I would like to complete are the Topps First Pitch sets. They were spread across a few years of Topps baseball, and I know I have quite a few spread across many non-sport card boxes.

My latest ones came in this mail day from Oren. I have no idea if I have these ones or not, so until I get them put together, I will keep taking any of them I can.

Donovan Bailey is a retired once World Record breaker Canadian Sprinter. Guess it explains why he is doing his First Pitch with the Blue Jays,

We all know that she loves rock and roll and so don't we. I was quite excited to add this Joan Jett one.

Luke Donald was once the world's number one golfer. He looks like in this picture that maybe he knows how to throw a baseball as well.

*takes final sip before closing up today's post*

I will add these three to the non-sport box for now until I can find the time to gather all of the ones I have to see what I need and make a list. In the meantime, I will continue to hoard any of the ones I acquire.

Part Three of this Blog Crossover Event is tomorrow! See how this mail day ends on Big Blue Cardboard right HERE.

Thanks again for reading and having some coffee with me.

There Was Too Much To Love

When I get my annual Christmas mail day from Wes, former blogger, I hope he pictures this Martin Mull card with him loving this football so much. Because when his mail day arrives, this is me holding the box.

The one thing with a Wes mail day, you just never know what you are going to find, but you know you will love every minute of it.

It's the reason why I waited so long to post it. Valentines Day seemed like the perfect opportunity to show how much I love it.

There is so much to show and so much to love.

To kick it off with a Martin Mull card that is actually the signed version, we are starting off strong. I enjoyed watching Mull on Rosanne then later on Sabrina The Teenage Witch and then on The Cool Kids. He had a unique kind of humor to the characters he played. Sadly, he passed away last year at age 80.

Next, Wes hit up some weak parts in my Giants autograph collection.
This is my first Micah McFadden auto. He continues to prove he belongs on the field more and more every year.

As far as I know, this is the ONLY Daniel Bellinger autograph on the market which is by Wild Card. He has a nice clean signature and his rookie year he looked like a nice clean draftee. Things have slowed down for him since.

My first Kennard auto. May be my first Giants autograph with a number signed as well.

There were hefty expectations for Wheaton when the Giants drafted him, but injuries kept setting him back so he didn't see the field a lot other than special teams.

My man Osi! He was one of many beasts the Giants have had on their Dline over the years.

How I didn't have a Morris auto by now I don't know. I also love UD Legends product and it's on-card autographs.

Always wanted a Gifford auto, this one is a little off, but I will take it and I love it. Can't believe he has almost been gone for 10 years now. I still want to hunt down a Kathy Lee Gifford auto as well to pair with this one and my Regis auto.

Sam Huff! My first auto of this Giants legend as well.

Jason was the first NFL jersey I owned and his interception against the Eagles when he was on the ground still plays in my memories as one of the greatest Pick 6's ever.

The next two aren't technically Giants, but are two I wanted and they are fans of the Giants.
Linda Cohn.

Jackie Mason.

And it wouldn't be a Wes Christmas mail day if some rare Rodney Hampton's weren't involved.

Wow! Two 1/1's!!! Love it!

Say what you want about some of these lesser name companies, but they are the ones putting out the on card autographs. A nice, new Eli Manning right here!

Grew up watching Willy Wonka like I did? Then these two you should recognize immediately. OH, it's also a 1/1.

Spider-Man! He's not my favorite Spider-Man of the group, but he still played my second favorite hero, so this was an exciting find.

Christina Slater. What movie wasn't he in?

Wes must have been watching my wants list....as Mikaela Shiffrin was right at the top of most wanted autographs! Local celebrity of such and the MJ of her sport, this was a want! LOVE IT!

As I have told the story before on here, my very first concert was Britney Spears and it was a memorable one for me. So, when I saw that her younger sister had an autograph, I wanted it. Jamie Lynn is mainly known for her role on the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101.

Now I just need to add a Britney auto.

If you have heard of Wilson Phillips, you know who Carnie Wilson is. Well besides being the daughter of a famous Beach Boy. And I will admit it right here that I love some Wilson Phillips songs. You're In Love, Release Me, and Impulsive to name a few.

Wes then found out that I loved NCIS. He not only sent along some DVD's, but he has also found some cards for me.

These are super cool!! Hope I can continue to add more NCIS cards later on to my collection. The original show I have watched since the beginning with my wife.

If you know me, read this blog or follow me on social media, you will know how much I love Christmas Vacation and memorabilia around the movie. This is the first year that Beverly D'Angelo signed for Leaf and I sooooooooooo needed her autograph for this PC. Well, now I have it!

And finally, one of the toughest relics to chase in Parks and Rec Press Pass. Aubrey Plaza's autograph I added earlier last year and now having this relic finishes up a need there and puts me a step closer to the single relic set. And who doesn't just love her in general?

Wow there is so much to love here. And this wasn't even all that I got and there was so much to love there as well. Just lots of love on a day of love. Love it all Wes and thank you as always!

I hope all of you find some love in your collection today.

I love that you stopped by to read this.

Have a great Friday and Valentines Day. The final basketball practice for me tonight and two games tomorrow.
