Fluffy

It was a dark, cold and slightly rainy 7pm night as my wife and I sat outside at the two-hour away county fair in late August.

The temperatures were in the 40's, cold hit hard and shivers began as we waited for the show to begin knowing once it did, the cold won't be hopefully as noticeable.

*needed HOT coffee..why didn't the fair offer coffee*

The show started off very slow in the beginning and cold continued to set in. That's the problem with shows, they have opening acts and when they don't hit a home run, it makes you want that main act even more.

In coffee terms, it's like having creamer without the coffee.

Or in the hobby having a card wrapper without the cards.

But, then a little after 9pm...the moment we had been waiting for happened...FLUFFY appeared on the stage!

YES! We got to see the legendary Gabriel "Fluffy Guy" Iglesias live!

Before the show began, it was told we weren't allowed to video or take pictures during the performance, which stunk because the pictures would have been great.

However, in the final like five minutes of the show, they allowed photos and video. It went by very fast just like the show. But, it was amazing and it was worth sitting in the cold for.

After the show, I had to search for Fluffy autographs since they didn't have any available at the show. Usually all non-sport autos are for nostalgic reasons.
Found one. And I am a Looney Tunes fan so it's a double win.

This was the first show, concert or show, that I have been to in over 20 years.

Yeah, I don't get out much unless it's for coffee.

Well, I hope everyone has enjoyed this week of posts! I still have so much to catch up on.

Thanks for reading and Happy November!

In comments, let me know if you are a fan of Fluffy or if you have seen his stand-up live or what the best comedian is you have seen live.

Going Looney For 750

Today marks post 750 on Cards Over Coffee and I am going Looney for it!

Looney for Looney Tunes that is!

*takes a sip from a freshly brewed cup. thinks about grabbing a bowl of cereal for Saturday morning cartoons..oh wait*

I can't remember a Saturday morning growing up where Looney Tunes didn't make some kind of appearance on my television. I remember that it was one of the last cartoons of the day and even though I wanted to go outside, I made sure to take a few minutes out to give it a watch.

Looney Tunes have been on and off cardboard for a while and I have added some along the way, but it wasn't until I found out that Upper Deck combined them with Fleer/Skybox products from the 90's, that's when it really hit home.

2024 Fleer Retro Looney Tunes comes with everything you expected from 90's Fleer/Skybox. You can find Ultra, Z-Force, Skybox Premium, Fleer Metal, PMG's, Golden Touch, Ex, Thrill Seekers, Essential Credentials, Gold Medallions, Platinum Medallions, Rubies, and even some Jambalaya and sooooooooo much more. The inserts are also creatively done.

The product also mixes all years of Looney Tunes. Including those from the old cartoons all the way to the newer ones. For me, it's all about the classics.

All of this led to me going out to acquire a few of the cards. I already had a few base that reader Oren had passed along, but I wanted to give a few other cards from the product a try.

Like EX. It's just like the 90's version. Printed on acetate and with harder cardboard center. Such a beautiful card and now I want the 50-card set. It will be a new chase that I started with one of my favorite memorable characters. If you know, you know...Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal!

Up next, everyone knows I like shiny, so I discovered the Red Dots /399 parallel in the Metal section of the product. This would be a fun 50-card set chase as well.

(reminds me of my Kindergarten teacher)

(me feeling loose from too much coffee)

(me without coffee)

Then I thought these Pink special Fx parallels would be cool,

Not so much in hand. The lightbox made it better than it actually is. (yes its the frog again)

I have a few more on the way, different inserts, I will share those another time and hope to add more (and hopefully some of you out there have more to help me via trade)

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I know I added two frog cards, but I wouldn't say he is my top character. I mean it's really hard to beat Bugs as my favorite. Though some days I feel more like Elmer Fudd in the hobby, always chasing that certain card (rabbit) and never getting it.

Let me know your favorite Looney Tunes character in comments along with your thoughts on these cards.

And one more thing, you can enjoy the old Looney Tunes from 5-7 am every morning on the Boomerang channel. I do this often with my cup of coffee and breakfast.

Have a great Saturday.

Looney For This Mail Day

Wow! What a busy week it has been.

*insert coffee sip*

Family and fun filled the week.

I expect more of this as May turns to June and as the summer rolls on. I may be spending a lot less time in the blogging world and more time in the family world.

The way it should be.

But family left today back to Tennessee, and not only do I have to pack up almost 10 PWE mail days from giveaways and trades I did, but to also get the one draft I have in my Cards Over Coffee drafts posted.

The one draft has been sitting in there for almost a week and includes my latest trade mail day with reader friend Oren.

Yeah, I cut back on collecting Yankees like I posted in my last post on here, but I am sooooo collecting 90's cards of them.

I do have this card, but didn't mind having another. I actually have this set coming up in a Unfinished Sets post as I am only missing one card to completion.

90's inserts at their finest. When I say I am looking to trade for 90's inserts, this card alone is a prime example of what I want.

Another 90's insert. Not as appealing as the last, but I still take 'em!

Then came some surprise cards in our trade.

And they are exactly what I looked for in cards.

Looney Tunes+classic 90's designs. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

(will he ever be caught?)

(looks like my ex)

(we all want a granny in our life)

And then he threw these in,
The 1998 Fleer Diamond Ink Exchange Program

Back of the card is 1 point. Once you collect 500 points you get an autographed baseball of the player on the front.

Great promotion, great way to sell cards. However, I can't imagine too many collectors actually were able to pull off this. With so many names and so many points needed, that would have been near impossible.

Thanks, Oren, for another fun mail day. Hope you have some more of those Looney Tunes cards kicking around, I really liked those. Would love some of the inserts and parallels too!

Hope everyone has a fun Friday and weekend.
