Coffee Break:2022 Topps Holiday Baseball Mega Box

*when the coffee is hot and there are cards, there is Cards Over Coffee to be had*

Twas 16 days before Christmas and all through the house, not a pack of cards was left unopened not even 1988 Score baseball.

Sorry you can only rhyme for so long.

The Topps Holiday boxes were on the Walmart shelf with care, in hopes I would take an hour-long trip and soon be there.

My pocket had just enough cash nestled to buy, hoping I won't arrive to an empty shelf and cry.

I in my winter hat and coat, went inside of the Walmart hoping not to mope.

And there it sat right on the shelf, waiting for me like it was placed there by an Elf. I was excited to open with care, hoping that a Santa relic would be in there.

With 10 packs of 10 cards each, I spent $24.98 while doing a little girl screech.

I drove the hour back home with coffee and cards in my hand, counting down to see which 1 autograph, relic, or autograph relic I would pull that would be grand.
Immediately I was greeted by a Buehler, that was an ornament die cut shape of a tree, that I couldn't be more....I don't have a word that goes with Buehler...maybe for more fuehler?

I opened them pack by pack and enjoyed the 200 card design all about,

I pulled Wander and I gave a shout.

I was more than halfway through the break and what should appear...
A Candy Cane sleeve Acuna and a

Santa Belt Ohtani that I gave a cheer.

With some Metallic parallels (1:2 packs) I pulled for this post so quick.

I even pulled this Red Metallic, that matches the color of the suit of Saint Nick. (it also falls 1:92 packs and there is Gold Metallic 1/1 as well)

Then it came down to my hit.

I shouted come on Julio, Trout and Wander and even Saint Nick.
As I quickly revealed my card, I saw it was at least a Yankee, a Luis Gil, one I could not disregard.

I picked up my cards and set this aside with a smirk, I was pretty happy with the results and knew I had some sorting work.

In my comments today, I hope to hear your thoughts on my break, and you can tell me if you like them with a no or a yay.

I hope everyone has a great rest of their day, drink some coffee and hopefully get a box of this to break right away.

*sits down and gets ready for another product review post on Cards Over Coffee. there are still other pre-published posts of these to come*

It's no surprise how hot 2022 Bowman has arrived in the hobby knowing how the hobby is turning into a money grab with everyone looking for the next big thing to flip.

For me, I just enjoy Bowman to find the latest rookies and possible future Hall Of Famers for my collection. I have been collecting rookie cards since I started collecting. It's just a fun PC.

So, let's see who I pulled in this hobby box break.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*

Every hobby box of 2022 Bowman baseball comes with 24 packs of 10 cards. Each box guarantees one autograph and boxes currently run $280.

The base set design is the typical Bowman look. This years I feel could have transferred over to a flagship Topps design as well.

There are 100 cards in the base set featuring veterans,

Bowman Invicta (future product preview?) has 25 cards and falls 1:18 packs.

Bowman Scouts Top 100 has well....100 cards and falls 1:4 packs. Excuse my lack of cropping on this photo. My OCD is eating me up on this one.

Virtuosic Vibrations has 20 cards and falls 1:8 packs. Beach Boys Good Vibrations immediately comes to mind here.

Hi-Fi Futures comes with 25 cards falls 1:4 packs.

Rookies Of The Year Favorites falls 1:8 packs and has 15 cards to collect. I get such an 80's vibe from these, I dig it.

HITS:

1st Bowman Chrome autograph of Creed Willems. I don't know who this is...lol. This is also a Speckle Parallel /299.

Keep in mind with the autographs, that there are also some veterans mixed in to pull as well.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
The fun thing with Bowman is that you can't decide if you got your money or back yet. Right now, it may not be pretty. But, if you give this box break a couple of years, who knows?

I will say I liked this years Bowman inserts as they have been jazzed up some. I also like the fact that Jasson Dominguez continues to make an appearance in the product for my collection. Now I just need to track down the prospect chrome.

Thoughts on this years Bowman design and overall product welcomed in comments below.

Coffee Break:2021 Topps Big League Baseball Hobby Box

*takes a sip of a new coffee brand today and gets ready to rip a new...I suppose...product as well.*

My wife recently bought me a few different Keurig Coffee Pods to try. It wasn't like I am sick of drinking Green Mountain Dark Roast decaf every day but it would be nice to add another one into the rotation.

However, finding the right flavor hasn't been easy.

I used to drink tons of caffeine but after I started having heart racing issues, my father and a cardiologist took me off caffeine completely. Which at first was a challenge, but my body adjusted. But, finding the right coffee took some time. I tried many early on and most were too bland. There was no coffee flavor so it was like drinking creamer water. Finally have discovering Green Mountain Dark Roast, life has been good.

Other than that one, the only other one I can tolerate is Dunkin' Decaf.

So today, I went to flavortown and tried a Guy Fieri decaf coffee called unleaded. Great choice of name by the way.

And this one was a winner. Nice smooth dark coffee flavor. It will be a perfect addition to my rotation.

Speaking of rotation, it appears we rotated years with the latest Topps product release in 2021, yes you read that right, Topps Big League baseball.

*takes a sip before moving onto today's break*
Every hobby box of 2021 Topps Big League Baseball comes with 18 packs of 10 cards. Each box has no guarantees and runs about $40.

BASE:
The base set is 300 cards deep with veterans,

Rookies,

And plenty of subsets.

I like the simple design and there is some fun photography as well.

PARALLELS:
You can find the following parallels in Big League,
Electric Blue, Orange, Rainbow Foil /100, Green Foil /75, Black & White /50, Blue Foil /25, Black Foil /15, and Red Foil 1/1.

Rainbow Foil /100

Orange Parallels that fall one-per-pack. I was happy with the Judge find.

INSERTS:
Defensive Wizards was my favorite insert line from Big League. A great looking design. There are 15 cards in this set that fall 1:4 packs.

Art Of The Game falls 1:4 packs and has 23 cards in the set to collect

Souvenirs falls 1:4 packs and has 30 cards to collect.

Wanted. This was my 2nd favorite design from the product, and hey look, another Judge for the collection. There are 15 of these to collect at 1:4 packs.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

This was a fun break that is definitely aimed for team, set and kid collectors. This isn't for the big home run hitter though there are some big home run cards to chase. The autographs at 1:67 packs isn't really too bad of odds.

Thoughts on today's cards welcomed in comments.

Have a great Tuesday.
