Unfinished Cup:1995 Summit Ground Zero Football

It has become apparent that I am not very good at remembering things, after updating my Set Needs tab on here, I began looking for new Unfinished Cups to feature and for some reason I found I doubled up on a few of the ones I already did.

Ooops! That won't happen again.

First, it's walking into a room and forgetting why I was in there and now it's publishing the same blog posts twice.

My forgetful 40's are kicking in.

Now you probably ask, why bother posting them when you already have them in your Set Needs Tab. Well, that's because I find that featuring them in a post may help get them the reach I need and hopefully someone will be able to help fill those needs.

Because I know not everyone clicks on the tabs to check them out and my set needs may never get out there to be seen otherwise.

I will say by posting them, I have had some help over the years, so I know these posts are useful.

So, let's get on with today's before I forget what it was.

This parallel is 1995 Summit Ground Zero which was found 1:7 packs of 1995 Summit football. The base card design for Summit was one of my favorites of the 90's and still ranks easily in my Top 10 for base designs.

So, we top that off with a cool looking parallel, one of my very first parallels to pull, and you have a chase.

I have come so close over the years, and I think and feel like it's time to finish up this bad boy. It's not every day you finish up a 200-card parallel set.

Here is what remains,
35,53,60,64,71,79,103,109,125,136,137,138,159,160,166,169,174,177,178,179,180,182,188,189,193,195,196 197,198,200

If you have any, please comment below or hit me up in my email at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Thanks for reading, thanks in advance on any help and hope you brought your coffee.

The Moment From a $200 Card To A $1 Card

*staring at you through the computer screen wondering why you haven't signed up yet for Fetch or Cashwalk apps*

*proceeds to drink coffee....then stares back at the screen at you*

They say hangers are bangers so with some gift cards I earned using the Cashwalk app I got to try out this theory.

I was also in shock that I actually found Prizm football in stock at my Walmart.

I am not sure why I ever buy Prizm. I have always had terrible luck with it. My best luck comes with trading for singles I want, but call me Kenny Rogers as I like being a Gambler.

These boxes come with 20 cards with plenty of shiny and costs you roughly $25. Or in Cashwalk terms, five $5 gift cards.

So, I used all of the ones I saved up to try the box hoping for the best.
Was this it...did I hit the motherload? Was this going to be the first time ever Prizm hit it big for me? Did I actually win the gamble and hit a $200 card??

My heart was filled full of excitement. It was the kind of rush you get when you are speeding a little and happen to pass a cop car sitting in the U-turn making you wonder if they will turn their lights on or not.

Well, that thrill didn't last long. The moment went from a $200 card to a $1 card.

Guess the cop car didn't move.

However, finding this as one of the next cards wasn't too bad. It didn't make up for the price of the box, but wasn't a bad find either and probably my best ever Prizm pull.

This kind luck probably won't stop me from opening another down the road. But, will have to get to saving and unlocking gift cards first.

*takes a sip before closing up today's post with some information*

Well, not to sound like a broken record or an infomercial, I just wanted to remind you of the two apps I use to get gift cards. There is a third one I use to get Visa gift cards I will save for another day.

Coffee Break:2024 Donruss Football Blaster Box

It's the first Sunday without football so thought I would bring some football to you!

With my recent lack of ripping and a big urge to want to, I wasted some of my Christmas eBay gift cards and did a trade with my buddy Shane just so I could have something to open. I will post all of the breaks on here.

I know I shouldn't have wasted resources for it, so save the lectures, but I wanted to.

I needed it.

Just like this cup of coffee.

*takes a sip*

My rip today was a blaster box of 2024 Donruss football.

There wasn't too much excitement in the break, but I did pull a few cool cards.
After the season this guy had, everyone needs a rookie of him.

Red Press Proof parallel.

Throwback Design Insert. Because what longstanding product doesn't include those now-a-days. Especially Topps brands.

Red Hot Rookies. Not a bad one to find here. He looked pretty good last season.

Champ Is Here. I wished they had won it this year. Ugh Eagles.

This is a great looking insert. Action All Pros. I will have to see if there are any Giants on the checklist for this one. I like it.

*Here's to another Coffee Break, hope everyone has a great day and remember, coffee is best served warm. Coffee Card blogger out*

UNO!

Who is up for a game of Uno?? Or who is up for collecting the cards?

Yes, Uno has not only became a classic game but also has what I call collectible cards now.

With more than 2000 cards to collect, there is a lot to chase.

Before, I show off some, I need to chase down my first cup of coffee today first.

*takes a sip*

I ended up finding one of these "packs" to open for fun by the gaming section in Walmart. No, not the video game section, these things called board games that once existed.

These "packs" cost $5 and comes with 56 random cards plus 4 cool looking foil cards.

Breakdown on the back.

I never looked into how to play this version of Uno as I wanted to collect them, but I am sure it's fun. Will it be as fun as the original game? Probably not. I haven't found one spinoff of a good board game to be worthy of its original.

Here is a peek at the cards,
They feature the game play, a die-cut kind of thing and a player photo.

I believe that each of these cards for every player has a different colored border variation as well. Which is why the checklist is so big. What the different colors mean, I don't know.

But what I do know is that the foil ones are completely fire.

I believe these are the "valuable" cards to chase in the set. I just like them because they look really nice, and I want to see if I can chase some of the Giants now to.

Now to figure out if I should binder these or keep them in the box.

If you would like further info on the game or cards, I included a link to the Mattel website HERE.

Thanks for checking out today's post.

The Top Wants (Again)

Roughly a year ago, I shared my Top Wants list on here which you can always find on the Tabs of the blog (linked in this sentence). But, not knowing if anyone ever looks there, I thought a post with an updated list would be better.

I have crossed off a lot from last year's list and added more to this year's list. One thing to keep in mind, I update this list throughout the year. I add more, I subtract the ones I add, and stare at the ones that have been on this list for an eternity since I started this blog with a cup of coffee in my hand.

There will always be a Top Wants list, but I am hoping some day that a lot of these cards won't be on it anymore. So, if any of you can assist, my email is always open at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

The Three Blog Mailings

With so much to catch up on, I have been using nighttime to get some blogging done and trying to keep pace with what I have to get posted. The only problem with this is that I am using the little bit of free time I have to do this. Which means blogging is taking place of sorting cards or playing a game of Madden.

As I get caught up, I will have to find a better balance so I can enjoy all three downtime things.

But here I am until then.

When I took a couple months off in the fall, which by the way was a nice refresher, I struggled with getting mail days which led to no content to post about and led to thoughts of retirement from blogging.

Things started to change in December as my mailbox found quite a few mainly from bloggers, former bloggers and possible future bloggers.

Like Crocodile Sports Cards who I won a football prize pack from his contest.

The box was loaded with vintage (like actual vintage in the 70's, 90's is not vintage), 90's, and even cards from today. A mix of teams, players, rookies and a few stars.

Some examples to follow,

(absolutely adore this card)

Thanks Croc!

Then there was a very generous mail day from The Diamond King that arrived pretty fast despite how slow the mail was around the holidays,
A Trout for my player PC

Shiny!

Then came the eye candy of an Shohei Ohtani rookie! Pretty stoked to add this one.

Thanks DK!

And finally, Johnny's Trading Spot saw my comment on one of his recent posts

About this Keenan McCardell and how I didn't have it for my set chase. Guess what, the always generous guy sent it my way. Now I can cross this one off! With this addition, I now have 36 of the 120 or so autographs. I am not sure I will ever be able to tackle the big boys but would be fun to try and get close. Here is my list of needs if you are curious or have some help for me:1995 Pro Line Autographs

Thanks as always Johnny!

This is just the beginning of the fun mail days I have to share.

Hats And Sweaters

*sits down, takes a sip, has a stack of cards and is ready for the next holiday card season post*

Today marks Day three of the holiday season. So far, I have only adventured outside the house once into stores and already regret doing so. They weren't quite as packed as I expected, but it still wasn't fun waiting in line even at the self-checkout with one item.

ONE ITEM.

If that item hadn't been coffee related, I would have left. But nonetheless I stood and waited then ran out the door faster than Speedy Gonzales minus the yellow sombrero.....and the speed. Didn't I mention how I drink decaf now? But, if that had been me six years ago when I was all caffeine, I could have ran it.

*takes another sip, stomach growls, starts to think of something for breakfast. for some reason, tacos came to mind*

To me you can't talk about the holiday card season if you don't mention Ugly Sweater and Santa Hats swatches.

You simply can't.

These cards are some of my favorite cards of the holiday season as they can produce some pretty unique swatches for some of the cards. I know many who have read my blog in the past know that I have been and still am chasing the Donruss Holiday Rookie Sweaters sets for football. This set chase is a long process that has taken me years to try to complete and I have come a long way with them.

But, I needed a break on and off with them which led to me finding other Ugly Sweater cards and even Santa Hat relics. Which I added because they are simply as cool as coffee.

Here is my current Santa Hat collection,

(my favorite of the bunch)

(you don't say many Tom Savage cards are cool, but this one definitely is)

And now onto my "other" Ugly Sweater cards,
\

(yeah, two of the same but different relics)

I hope to add more to these collections at some point. But, I really need to finish up those Donruss Rookie Sweater sets first. Some I am only a couple away from....well that's until Panini pumps out 2023.

Here is a look at my needs, ones on the way and finished sets if you are curious.

Note:these are all up-to-date!

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I am not sure how many more year's companies will make specific holiday products for, but I hope they continue and continue to pump out more Ugly Sweater and Santa Hat cards because they have this blogger all-in on them.

Hope everyone has a warm coffee filled Sunday!

You Think Friday The 13th Is Scary....

You think Friday The 13th is scary? I am more worried about March The 19th of 2023.

*takes a sip*

On March 19th of this year, I am turning 40 years old.

40.

It doesn't seem possible, especially since I have a mindset of a 12-year-old.....though a body of a 60-year-old.

Since I will be turning a big scary number this year and the fact, I know I am getting older, I recently took an eBay gift card I got for Christmas and turned it into something that would make me feel young again. No, I didn't buy a magic youth potion from Yzma, those of you who watched Emperor's New Groove will get that reference, but I did buy something that would take me back in time.

And yes, I wished it had been a DeLorean but what I got will have to do.

*takes a sip before my coffee gets old from sitting here*

Even though these literally can't really take me back in time like the DeLorean could have, these can nostalgically.

I picked up some unopened 90's packs from my favorite time of collecting, 1995-1999, for a rip-fest. I am really looking forward to it.

Included in this pile is,
  • 1997 Upper Deck UD3 Football (4 packs)
  • 1996 Laserview Football (3 packs)
  • 1996 Press Pass Premium Football (1 pack)
  • 1996 Pinnacle Select Hobby Football (1 pack)
  • 1995 Signature Rookies Autograph-Phonex (3 packs)
A good mixture and all I had opened at one point in my youth.

I plan on posting the results from the packs in a new segment coming up soon. Right now, it's going to be called Turning 40 but the name may be adjusted before I post the first part. Let me know in comments if you have a better name.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I know many have said 40 isn't that scary or that old, but I guess I will find out in March. There is no turning back time, even if I was Cher.

Thoughts on my packs and if you have something scarier than Friday The 13th coming up for you this year

Repack Monday: Fairfield Prime Football Re-Pack

*sits down on this dreary Monday morning to get ready for a new post on Cards Over Coffee. coffee always brightens up the spirit outside*

*takes a sip*

Monday mornings are usually a drag, but with a big NY Giants win, a cup of joe and a football repack box next to me, I can't complain.

*takes another sip*

I bought this repack, along with three others, 2 years ago when the hobby was surging, and I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to ever find any form of cards to open again.

Boy, how the times have changed since then as I can always find something now if I wanted it......and wanted to pay the higher prices.

But, there is always something about these re-packs.
Today's re-pack is a Prime Pack. This means it comes with packs and not just a stack of cards which leads to the higher price. I believe I paid $9 roughly for this.

This box comes with 1 hobby pack, 2 regular packs and 1 bonus card which is a 2019 Donruss Mark Ingram base card.
The back of the box tells you what is offered within.

*takes a sip, begins to rip*
Here were the pack offerings within. The 2014 Topps Chrome mini football is the hobby pack in this break. Fingers crossed on an autograph or something Odell!

And the Ingram card.

Now onto the pack breaks.

*takes a sip, begins to rip pack 1*

I decided I would do worst to best with the pack openings. The 2020 Leaf Draft football offerings weren't too bad. Tua Gold parallel, Jonathan Taylor, Duvernay who is having a decent year and Austin Mack was a Giant.

*takes a sip, begins to rip pack 2*
2016 Score wasn't too exciting. A lot of cards I already had.

The inserts.

*takes a sip, begins to rip pack 3*
Not too much to brag about in the hobby pack. A couple of rookies highlighted by Anthony Barr.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Despite this break not being great, my Monday morning is still shining bright..unlike the sun today.

Thoughts on these re-packs welcomed in comments.

Have a great Monday.
