The Great Card Cleanse Of 2025 Part 2: The Goods

I know a lot of you have been waiting to see what I turned all of those base cards into.

Well, today is your lucky day and I have my lucky cup of coffee next to me waiting to be sipped.

*takes a sip*

I know most of you will be shocked by my return as it's not really anything spectacular, but to me it was. Yes, it was seventy-five thousand plus cards and even at a penny a card I should have gotten something nice, but who do you know would take on that amount of base without blinking an eye or being fussy about what they took? Not too many I know of, actually I don't know of anyone else. Not to mention I freed up so much space and boxes that I can use for future projects that actually matter to me.

So, I still think in the end I am the winner here.

Let's take a look at my haul and yes, I miscounted, there were fourteen I got in return, not twelve.

WanDale Robinson Playoff Contenders Optic rookie. He started off the year hot, but, this Giants offense is all over the place.

Malik Nabers still is the best player on the Giants, we just have to get the ball into his hands.

This might help. The Giants are 0-3, coach is desperate, so let's turn to his rookie QB who he hopes can not only be the savior of this team, but the savior of his job.
I now have two of these, just because I guess. I still need a Caitlin Clark.

Cam has moved up to one of my favorite players on the team. He gives me Jeremy Shockey vibes.

Tyler Nubin has made some plays this year, hopefully this defense, especially the secondary, can turn things around tomorrow.

Everyone who has followed me on social media or on this blog know that I have chased the Donruss Rookie Sweater sets every year. 2024 is the one I am struggling with the most, I have a mile to go still but fortunately this was a new one.

I never turn down a LT card, especially a team color matching parallel.

Not sure where my father was hiding some Eli, but I will take them. I still need to check if I have them.

Darius Slayton has fallen off the Giants good graces so far this year, he hasn't been getting the ball in his hands. He is an underrated speedster if someone can get him the ball. Come on Dart!

And for some reason, I felt I needed this in the trade. Not sure if Howard will ever play, but I figured it gave me something to sit on for awhile. Maybe use it later on for something I want more. If any Steelers fans are interested, I will trade this for a Dart version!

There you have it.

I know, probably about $20 in return value, but, these cards make me happy and that's all that matters. Don't judge me. Only judge me for drinking decaf coffee, but it's better than none!

I still have more base cards to dispose of and hopefully can pull off a second trade for those and clean up more space soon. I have also begun pulling out some of the hits, autograph and jersey cards, I will be downsizing as well and I have made a huge dent in that as well.

My collecting ways are changing and changing for the better. Make sure to stay tuned for future updates on this project. Much, much more to come.

Have a Super Saturday.

Unfinished Cup:1997 Pro Line NFL Gems Gems Of The NFL

The last couple of days sitting at home after surgery has freed up some time that I didn't have before.

So, guess what...I am putting some of that extra time into getting some posts done.

Hope you're ready.

*takes a sip of fresh brewed afternoon brew*

Yes, this is another set on my set chases. It's a fun one from the 90's.

If you didn't know, the 90's were ahead of Panini's time with putting jewels into cards. Of course I feel like the late 90's are still ahead in a lot of categories.

Today's set is a really good looking one that I decided to chase out of nowhere after discovering that I had a couple sitting around.

The front of the card features a stud of a player and a stud itself. From my research, these were mail-in redemptions pulled from packs. I am unsure of the odds on these, but can't imagine they were easy pulls.

The odd numbered cards in the set contain emeralds and the even numbered cards have sapphires.

Also, the front of the card is covered in 23K gold.

The back of the card features a write up on the player

Overall, there are 16 cards in the set to chase. I have about 5 of them. There are also two bonus Elway variations, but I only plan on collecting the main 16.

Find which ones I need HERE.

I hope everyone is enjoying an afternoon cup with me for today's post, *takes a sip*, and hope you all have a great rest of your Friday.

A House For Your Cards

Do you have sports cards sitting around? Do you not have a place to display them? Do you not want your mother to throw them out or have your spouse find them?

Then why don't you get A House For Your Cards!

Well, not an actual house, unless you want to pay the prices of today's housing market, then go at it. Sort of like when Doug Heffernan from King Of Queens rented an apartment as his hangout spot away from his wife and without her knowing. Not that the end result of that worked out well and not that I would ever suggest that.

Or would I?

No. And don't tell your spouse I did either. Or mine. Though how cool would it be to just own a house for your collection and be able to display it however you want.

;)

Recently when I was digging for the base cards I traded to my father in my The Great Card Cleanse Of 2025 Part 1 project I came across this little flyer that must have been in a pack of older cards or even an insert in a magazine. I must have hoarded it because I found it to be fun piece of hobby history.

Back then, it was all about the wood grain, even on the side of the cars. I remember when I first met my sister-in-law back in 2002, she owned a station wagon (she was 16 or so at the time) so it wasn't really the cool card to drive but it was a car. It eventually was sold to my parents who drove it for a few years.

In this case, it was a full grain brown (which I assume looked the same as wood grain) 3-ring binder which was made full grain brown vinyl and held quite a few pages and cards. What stands out to me is the price. It's been a long time since 3-ring binders were that cheap. Most now are $10 even the cheaply made Walmart ones. The fancier ones on places like BCW cost more. Of course if you use code Matt10 at checkout you can save 10% off all of your supplies. Just sayin'.

So for me, I have my mother-in-law watch yard sales for them for a couple bucks. Some haven't come home in great condition, but they are useable.

The next option was this Perfect House For Your Team Set. Guess what, more of that Full Grain Vinyl! I wonder if they make coffee mugs that way? These apparently were used for displaying those minor league team cards. Though I would prefer professional teams.

And here you go for your ordering form. You may want to order more than one.

Look at the cost of shipping back then. Those are the days. Most shipping is $5 and up now.

Let me know in comments which of these two items, if not both, you would have ordered. I would also be curious if you actually did order either of these as well or maybe you found one of them over the years.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day.

Don't forget to house your cards.

side note: I was able to do a post today since I went through hernia surgery and I am resting at home. I hope to do another this weekend.

500,000

In the midst of my busy schedule, I never realized that this blog has hit yet another milestone.

I am happy to report that this blog has finally reached half a million views.

In celebration, I thought it would be fun to not only drink a cup of coffee, but to re-visit some parts of the blog. I got this idea from Johnny's Trading Spot when he put in his recent post about his blog's anniversary who his first blog's comment was.

*takes a celebratory sip, tips mug towards screen hoping you will return the favor*

*moves on with post*

So, here are a few categories that I created based off from his idea;

First Post: The First Brew

First Comment: Hockey Kazi "I've got the next pot ready to go. Great post, can't wait for more." (I am not sure if he has commented ever again)

One Of My Favorite Posts: Let Me Help You This Valentine's Day

My first Christmas Post (we all know that is my favorite holiday): You Serious Clark?

My Favorite Segment: Coffee With. I love sharing my non-sport autos with you guys!

My Favorite Part Of The Blog: I love being able to draw from what I am doing and trying to be creative based on the cards I am showing off. Whether that be using a movie, song title, song or anything like that. I want to not only be a card blog, but an actual one you want to read with coffee.

I was trying to think of other categories but drew a blank.

If anyone wants to turn this into a BBA, that would be fun as well. Maybe even create some other topics that I may have missed.

Thanks again for reading this blog. Every visit, every comment matters. I love reading all of your feedback and replying to all of them as well.

I would also welcome feedback today as well. What would you want to read about? What kind of posts interest you? How much coffee will you drink today? You know, those kind of things.

Here is to the next 500,000. I have some changes planned and hopefully I can tap back into the first couple of years on this blog again. I had more comments back then.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Unfinished Cup:1995 Zenith Z-Team Football

By now you may be thinking....how many sets is this guy chasing all at once??

And by now I may replying....too many!

It would be nice just to finish up one set, but, another one pops up and I have to chase it.

There is just so much nostalgia for me and so much of it I want to chase as sets.

Not all of my set chases are even under the Set Chase tab on here. There are so, so, so many I would need hours and hours of time to list them all. There are base sets, there are insert sets and there are even relic sets. I know I am never going to ever complete them all, so I am just trying to narrow down the most important ones first and try to complete those.

One of those is 1995 Zenith Z-Team football. If you remember, a couple years ago I completed the 1996 version which was my favorite Z-Team design but today's chase is pretty good too.

There are 18-cards in the set and each card fell at a rate of 1:24 packs.

Dufex was the name of the game with these with a simple but on point design.

So far I have 7 of the 18 in this slow chasing set. Two of those are the bigger ones.

But, that's why I am turning to you! Do you have some I need? You can check HERE and then comment below or even better, drop me an email to sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com and let me know!

Thanks for coming to read today's short post. I will now get back to accomplishing some more school work.

Have a great day!

Gifts

Life has continued to keep me busy with College and family events and away from most hobby activities except being able to visit Twitter a couple of times a day.

I haven't been able to read a lot of blog posts. I definitely haven't been able to post any. And when it comes to just spending time in my collection, it has been weeks. I have two people waiting on me to send trade pictures and I just haven't had the time to dig out the cards. Not to mention the small list of people I owe mail days to and want to mail stuff to.

Sadly the thing that I used to spend the most time with, other than family, has become the last thing that I spend time with.

But, tonight, I am spending a few minutes with it. Well, on here I am.

I have pictures waiting and waiting in drafts have been wanting to be set free finally and I am going to let some out tonight.

Even though I also have a tab open for my English class discussion board I am doing at the same time as this post.

*too late for a sip, but, we can do a pretend one*

In the time I haven't really been on here, I have received some really cool generous gifts from other collectors including two bloggers.

The first mail day which is the oldest of the three I am showing off today, comes from the always generous Johnny's Trading Spot.

He passed along a few unopened packs of Laffs trading cards and a stack of singles as well. The following isn't all of the singles he sent, just a few.

This is a set I have been trying to finish up for awhile now. I haven't had the chance to see if any of the cards that Johnny sent will help towards the set or simply just fit into my non-sport PC.

Either way, thanks Johnny! I need to take the time and hit you back!

*takes a break and switches over to the next tab to work on the english discussion board, writes another paragraph, comes back here*

Then came an expected but unexpected mail day from the legend of the night, Night Owl Cards
Here is a 2015 Allen Ginter Murray base card to replace the base I had lost. I still need to locate another Sal and another Q base.

And then came a nice 90's insert surprise!

Thanks Greg! Hope to find time to hit both you Johnny back!

*goes back to doing more work on the discussion board, the topic is a little too tense so trying to dull it down*

*comes back to blog*

My final gift to show off in this post was from @IT_guy8706 on Twitter/X.

He saw that I was looking for someone who could do some custom shirts for my upcoming 3rd/4th grade girls basketball season and he jumped on it saying how talented his wife was at making them.

He was right. Both came out excellent and I am so excited to be able to sport these this upcoming season. One of these is for practice, the other is for games.

Cannot say thanks enough to @IT_guy8706 and his wife!!

*clicks back to doing more homework, clicks back here to finish up tonight's post*

Well, I am hoping to maybe put together another post or two before I hang up the keyboard tonight but have to make sure my homework is done first and it's getting late. So we will see.

Hopefully my lack of posting doesn't hurt my chances at Blog Of The Year running. I came so close last year!

Hope everyone has been well and in comments tonight or tomorrow or even a few days from now whenever you read this, let me know of any recent gifts from the hobby you have gotten.

Coffee Break:2025 Score Football Blaster Box

Hello Coffee Card Enthusiasts! Miss me?

*takes a sip of fresh brew hoping you are as well*

I am finally back for a new post today......during my Giants game.

So far, it's been ugly on both sides of the ball. As I currently type this, they trail Washington 14-6 in the 3rd quarter. It sounds close, but it's not as close as it sounds.

It's been ugly. Very ugly on offense.

Hopefully they will fix this as the game goes on.

In the meantime, I will take a few minutes out and get a new post on here.

Recently I busted a blaster box of 2025 Score football, the first NFL release of the season. I needed that new card smell since it has been forever since I had opened anything up.

*sniffs the cards, still smells that new scent*

After opening it, I thought to myself, this would make a great NFL kickoff post.

So, let's get to the break. Sorry for the lack of the blaster box picture. Some reason I never took one.

*takes a sip, gets ready to rip...or show off the rip*

Each blaster box of 2025 Score football comes with 6 packs of 15 cards. There are 90 cards in all to get in a box which is pretty solid.

There are no guarantees per box in terms of hits, but you should get some parallels, one numbered parallel and some inserts in every box.

This years base set is pretty nice. I like the old school feel. It has an early 90's appeal.

Here is another base example, it is also my first 2025 NY Giants card.

The rookie cards have the same base design, but have team logos and the rookie logo. I just wished the players were in their NFL uniforms.

Here were the key ones I pulled,

Not too bad of a break pulling some of the good names.

Up next, I ditched showing off my green parallels since it was a pile of nobodies and went straight for my numbered parallel of the box,
I don't know this name really, but it's an offensive player and a nice looking parallel so it's a keeper.

Now onto the inserts,

(2nd NY Giants card of 2025)

And then a case pull....

Nice looking card! Just wished it was like Patrick Mahomes. Always fun still to land a case hit.

And finally, a surprise jersey card find,

Not too bad! A bruising running back.

Overall, an unexpected hit, a case hit, two Giants cards and some decent rookies makes this a fun break.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I am not sure when I will be able to post again, I am hoping to do another tomorrow but will see how much time I have available. School has taken a lot of my free time including all of my hobby time.

Hope everyone has a great football Sunday. Apparently mine isn't going to be that great.

Take a sip for me until the next post!
