Maybe it was just a pre-2000's thing, but I always felt high school teachers came up with teasing names for some of their students.
I know I had one.
Mr. Angel who not only was my freshman football coach but he was also my gym teacher created the name Big Hoss relating me to a horse because of the way I "galloped" because of my height and size. So anytime he met me in the hallway or when I got into gym class I was always greeted with a "Big Hoss" whether I liked it or not.
I can't say if I did or didn't. I guess I must have meant something to him if I got a name I looked at it.
I assume with today's culture you can't create such names anymore.
When Nine Pockets blog, who creates some amazing customs, offered up a free custom to a reader, I chose to get a surprise Seinfeld one because why not. When the card arrived last week the first thought that came to my mind was the Seinfeld episode The Library where George's gym teacher called/teased him "Can't Stand Ya!" using a play on words from his last name.
Even though this card image is from the episode The Understudy where George runs home and plows over Bette Midler. But the sports image is what made me think of that memory.
Back of the card. Go visit his blog and go buy yourself a custom!
Thanks again to Nine Pockets for another great mail day.
Did any of you have a high school gym teacher tease name? Let me know in comments even if it's embarrassing.
Have a great Friday!
