Marvel At These Beauties!

*has coffee ready to go, a stack of cards and it's time for a new Cards Over Coffee*

A few weeks ago, my wife bought me 20 stamps to use for PWE trading and what usually I can stretch out for awhile, ended up being used up within a week. That's almost three PWE trades a day which is a lot for me and honestly, it was. I couldn't keep up with it and trying to pack it up all seemed like a hassle that not even coffee could help with.

I did manage to push through and get them all packed up and sent out, it took way longer than I hoped with 17 going out in one day, but it was over with and I got some great cards in return.

One of those mail day returns came from a new trader I had just started making multiple trades with on Twitter, @tony_collection

Anthony has been known to trade me some great non sport cards in the past and this time was no different putting a focus on Marvel cards, especially a set I am really hoping to build.

As soon as I saw one of these 1994 Marvel Masterpieces Silver Holofoils a few months ago, I knew it had to become my next set chase.

And in this trade, I was able to get half of the set complete with landing five of the ten cards. Also, I may have added some coffee humor with each. Hope you enjoy the side notes.
(how I feel without coffee)

(my favorite card from the set and me staring at a nearby Dunkins)

(how my wife summons me by brewing coffee)

(how I feel after a dark cup of coffee)

and on top of this, I also traded for a few more cool looking Marvel cards called Power Blasts.
(my wife after seeing me on my fourth cup)

(me after the fourth cup)

(me summoning a fifth cup)

And as a surprise bonus,
Anthony tossed in this great acetate card of Silver Surfer. (me when eating a donut with my coffee)

Thanks again to @tony_collection for the trade and amazing bonus card.

This wasn't all of the cards in this trade, the rest will post tomorrow for tomorrow's holiday.

For today though, I want you to tell me which character above best represents you and coffee or let me know your favorite card of the group or favorite Marvel character.

Hope everyone has a great rest of their Wednesday, it's almost the weekend.

Sweet Little Mail Day

Sometimes I will have a doughnut or two with my morning coffee, sadly not with this morning's cup, and other times it is a local tradition to dunk your doughnut in maple syrup when it's sugaring season. Otherwise known as the time for making maple syrup.

This year, my father-in-law was back at making maple syrup full force at the almost age of 75 spending countless labor hours in the woods and in the sugarhouse. He has been doing this his entire life.

When he makes a batch, he usually sends along a little sample for us to try. Sometimes we just sip on it and sometimes we dunk a plain raised doughnut in it.

This is usually the sample size he gives out in cups, and this is as much as I had along with my plain raised doughnut. Just so none of you don't worry that I haven't stuck to my diet plan, I am still doing good, but I am flatlining at my weight. I guess it's better than gaining am I right?

But when it's this time of year, it's a sweet tradition that I feel must continue diet or not. Some people, not this blogger, will eat a dill pickle with the maple and donut so it offsets the sweetness. I am more of a bread and butter pickle guy so eating sugar on sugar isn't for me.

I like sweetness, but not an overload of it.

Unless it comes in a form of a mail day and my most recent two from Oren had sweetness overload.

First up were these 1994 Score Gold Rush that fell one-per-pack. Normally I don't collect anything pre-1995, but these are an exception.

None of these were particularly players I collect, but they fit in my 90's PC.

Speaking of 90's PC, there was no shortness of that in these mail days either.

Score Changing Places Of Roberto Kelly

Complete Players of Manny Ramirez

Manny Ramirez Dugout Collection

Upper Deck Sp Marquee Matchups Manny Ramirez

Tomorrow's Legends of Manny Ramirez

Wave Of The Future Manny Ramirez (this was one of my most favorite designs for this insert series)

Score Hall Of Gold Manny Ramirez

(if you are wondering by now if I PC Manny that is a no, I actually don't like him but I do like 90's inserts)

Steel Power of Mo Vaughn

Back is numbered to 5000.

Sports Illustrated Year In Review 1997 of Roger Clemens.

Score Gold Stars of Albert Belle

Fleer Lumber Co Albert Belle

Topps All-Stars 96 of Albert Belle (shiny....)

And finally a card that looks 90's,
but isn't. This is a 2000 Upper Deck Pennant Driven Chipper Jones. Inserts and even base from the early 2000's were just as great as the late 90's.

Thanks again to Oren for the last two trades.

Sweet syrup, sweet mail days sums up how March went for me. I am a little backed up on posts so this one is a little late coming, well at least the card portion. My father-in-law just finished up making the last batch of maple syrup on Saturday.

Thoughts on today's mail day show off, if you have tried syrup that is not made of corn syrup, if you have had doughnuts and syrup are welcomed in comments.

Hope everyone has an excellent Monday.
