Where Have All The Coffee Posts Gone?

Don't worry, I won't break into Paula Cole's song for today's post, I just will post and let you know I am still here and not hiding like Chanel.

*takes a sip of freshly brewed brew*

The last 10 days since my last post I have been busy which will be the theme of June, July and August so expect some delays in posts.
Mr. Turtle is a new addition to my garden this year, he will oversee and light up the flowers here

First, I have been getting my flower gardens prepped which has been really hard to squeeze in with the cold temps (today is 46 degrees) and the almost daily rain.

But, two of the four have been weeded and mulched. The other two will be more challenging as they are both bigger and have more weeds because of the rain.

I have also been on the road non-stop it feels so time to sit down and blog hasn't been an option. Not even at night as I have fallen asleep sitting up multiple times. (I hope I am not already getting to that age)

But that doesn't mean I didn't take some pictures along the way in my travels. And if you are law enforcement (or my wife) reading this, of course I pulled over to take these pictures (I really didn't and shouldn't be taking pictures and driving...ooops)

I also was able to start also adding some Set Needs finally to this blog. You can find those needs HERE and there is more to come when I have time to add them. If you have any help for me, drop me an email at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com. All of them are updated except the Hardwood Leaders which I need to update today at some point.

And since this is a coffee and card blog, I was also able to add some cards in the last ten days as well.
2024 Prizm Draft Caitlin Clark rookie card. It's the closest to a Prizm rookie I will get.

And I had a RAK on these Marvel cards. They weren't anyone I have ever heard of, I just thought they were cool.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I have gotten some recent mail days from bloggers I need to post along with some other cool stuff that I will get to at some point including a decent hanger box of a product I don't like. I never know when I can squeeze in the next post, but hoping you will still be here when I do and not wonder where have all the coffee posts gone?

What $25 On COMC Scored Me

Good Morning Coffee Card Enthusiasts!

Hope you have some coffee, cards and am ready to sit down to see my latest post.

Today I am showcasing a mail day from COMC that I got from writing an article for them. Guest bloggers can score themselves a $25 score credit for any accepted article submission and since I had one accepted, I got the store credit.

Seemed like a good deal to me. I like to write and get my writing out there and the store credit is just a bonus.

*takes a sip*

When I got my store credit, there were many avenues I could have taken. There was a couple of Rodney Hamptons I needed, there were Eli Mannings galore, there were some set needs, there were some non-sports I would have liked, but in the end, I decided my Marvel Collection needed some love since it had been a while.

Up first I scored these two Purple PMG's I needed for my chase. These two now gives me three of the five Black Panther ones.

Guardians Of The Galaxy is my favorite movie series of Marvel, and this dual relic was dirt cheap, why not add it?

And technically this was the end of my buying.

That's because I needed some credit left to ship the cards to me since I didn't have any other funds to use.
Including this Rodney Hampton autograph that I won in a contest three years ago from COMC but couldn't afford to ship. I did already have this Rodney, but he needed to come home finally.

Hopefully I will have more articles published on COMC so I can do this all over again.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I think next time I will take a different approach to my buying on there. I always say, more is better and stretch that money out. However, I am very happy with the $25 I did spend.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

The Blogger National 2024

*sits down, takes a sip of coffee. opens keyboard, begins to type today's newest post*

The last two years I have posted a Blogger National for those of us who can't enjoy the experience of actually being at the The National Sport Collectors Convention. That way we can still connect with one another without spending the big bucks to do so. Though I would love to sit down, have a cup of coffee and talk cards with you.

*takes a sip, tips mug towards computer screen hoping you will return the favor*

I am right on time with posting this year's Blogger National, so I am hoping you all will participate in this blog bat-around.

What is the Blogger National? Well, it's a blog-bat-around where you just take one post (or multiple if you so choose) in the next few days and dedicate it to showing off your coolest cards or your most favorite cards or a recent mail day you hadn't posted yet using the blog post title, The Blogger National 2024.

I want you to try to find the cards that are show worthy to you. You know, the dazzling cards that would attract all of the people over to your table (blog).

I received some show worthy mail day recently from my friend @Brent3323.

*takes a sip before moving on with today's post*
We first kick it off with some dirt from Washington Crossing. I never cared much about history or historical cards until I became an adult. I just wished I had paid more attention when I was younger, now I have to do all of the research.

Rintrah autograph from Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. This is my first Marvel autograph add in a long time.

Sean Elliot autograph. As soon as I saw that Brent had this, I wanted it. He was drafted by the Spurs in 1989, was always a consistent player in college and in the pros, was a two-time NBA All-Star, won a Championship with the Spurs in 1999 and also had his jersey numbered retired by the Spurs and his college University Of Arizona.

Then came an onslaught of Sterling Shepards. I always had a lot of respect for Shep. He played great, when he was healthy and was a team guy. Last year during his injury you could see him cheering on his teammates. That's the guy I want to root on.

With so many injuries in his career, it was only assumed this was not only his last season with the Giants, but the last season of his career. But this offseason proved differently as he signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs. I only wish him the best.
(nice patch)

(I think this may be my favorite Shepard card now)

And there you have it for the Shepards.

Brent also passed along a lot of other shiny basketball cards including a JA Morant Revolution rookie (picture didn't upload for some reason)

Thanks again to Brent for this terrific mail day.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I am hopeful many of you will join in on this. Usually my Blog-Bat-Arounds go nowhere but maybe this one will catch your attention. Last year was no to very little turnout but I am trying again!

And for those of you who read this and don't have a blog, feel free to post your cards on social media and use the hashtag, #TheBloggerNational2024. I will be on the lookout for that hashtag on all social media platforms. Well, except TikTok. I haven't joined that at all yet and don't plan to.

Hope everyone has a great rest of their week!

Before I close, I also wanted to remind you of the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame voting and that it needs you guys to nominate cards in.

Details on the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame can be found HERE. I may add this to every post from here on out for a reminder as I will forget about this too! Haha!

Just Some Stuff

*coffee is ready and so am I, time for some cards over coffee!*

Sorry, but today's post won't be as cool and creative as yesterday's post. Though I am a little disappointed more of you didn't check it out and that none of you at the time of me putting together this post had commented on it. I expected that to be in the running for my post of the year!

Anyways, today is one of those "I have cards in my drafts that I have no creative ideas for" kind of posts, so I am just showing them off.

*takes a sip*

The following cards are recent adds to my collection for a different reasons.
This 2018 Marvel Metal Purple PMG is my newest addition to my Marvel Purple PMG chase and marks my first Black Panther one from the chase.

I finally was able to land a Malik Nabers autograph for my Giants collection. I like to try and add the top pick of my team's draft pick before the season begins. Nabers so far in training camp appears to be the real deal and the most diverse weapon they have had since Odell.

With my buying freeze of not being able to open up packs and boxes the last two years, it's really put a damper on my collection when it comes to my rookie card collecting (from all major sports) and my Bowman 1st non-pitcher chases. I was finally able to add these Spencer Jones, one a base chrome 1st and the other a mojo refractor. This is one of many players I lacked in my collection. Still so many more to go especially from 2024 that I have little to none of.

If anyone has an extra Bowman (non-pitcher) rookies and 1sts from this year from any team, I would take 'em!

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Well, there you have it. Just some stuff.

Hope everyone has a great Monday. I think I only have one other post scheduled this week because otherwise my drafts are empty again like my cup of coffee. I need a refill on both.

Coffee With Karen Gillian

Coffee is ready and I have a card as hot as my coffee.

Hoping you are sitting down for the newest #CardsOverCoffee.

*takes a sip*

If you read any of my blog posts in 2023, you would have seen that I have grown into quite the Marvel fan watching almost every movie last summer.

One of my favorite franchises in the Marvel movie series was Guardians Of The Galaxy. The mix of humor, action and some incredible scenery caught my attention.

Which is why I started collecting the cards from the movie, especially of Nebula who is one of my favorite characters from the films. I also like Star Lord and Drax.

Nebula is the adopted daughter of Thanos, the main villain of the Avengers series. Nebula was originally a supervillain who fought against the Avengers, but later joined the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight against evil including Thanos.

In the movie, Nebula is portrayed by Karen Gillian who I knew previously from the new Jumanji movies. Which I really enjoyed those movies as well and can quote from them.

So, I have been wanting to add her autograph to my collection as a centerpiece for my Nebula PC (and because of Jumanji) and finally found someone on Twitter who had one for trade.
@BeantownChris91 posted this card for sale on the weekly non-sport thread hosted by @TGNCards. Not having any funds, I inquired about the card to see if there was any chance of a trade which he was happy to do.

With a blink of an eye, I was able to add this to my collection.
Back of the card.

Thanks to @BeantownChris91 for the smooth easy trade transaction.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

There are still other autographs I would love to add to my collection from the Guardians, but the prices are out of my range, and I don't ever find too many people who have them for trade.

But as I learned with this Nebula add, it doesn't hurt to keep chasing because maybe you will catch a break.

Chasing The PMG's Part 2

It's coffee, cards, and blogging time! Time for some Cards Over Coffee!

Back in November, I posted about passion for Marvel movies and how I have been chasing the Precious Metal Gem Purple Achievements. Well, I finally have all of them in hand after I got my mail day from Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday and now I can update my previous post, but in a new post.

Even if you don't like Marvel, don't tell me these aren't super cool.

Here is hoping that I can continue to add to this. Currently I still have twenty more to go, except I know some I won't ever land because they are brutally expensive. However, at the very least, I would like to finish up the Doctor Strange since I am only one way from that and the Thor since that's down to two.

Maybe even start on Black Panther at some point.

Hope everyone has a Super day!

Guardians In My Collection

*freezing cold temperatures means a nice cup of hot coffee and some cards*

*takes a sip*

My latest trade mail day with @levy2628 made me realize that I hadn't posted any of my Marvel Guardians Of The Galaxy relics yet on here.

As I put in my last Marvel post, Guardians is my favorite trilogy in the Marvel movie series. It's got a great mixture of visuals, adventure and comedy.

There are also a lot of characters that grow on you.

One of mine was Nebula. I can't explain why, but her personality really made me like her character. (this card I acquired in the trade with @Levy2628)

Which is why I started a side PC of her, this is by far my favorite card of hers. These Infinity Stone relics are super cool and I want more!

I wasn't sure how I was going to like an CGI character with humans in a movie since I wasn't a fan in the of past of such combinations, but it didn't bother me in this movie and Rocket was a fun one. (this card I acquired in the trade with @Levy2628)

Speaking of CGI, how can you not like Groot? (the part of the card in the window section is made of metal)

And by far my favorite character of the movies was Drax. He was downright hilarious. Kind of reminds me of me, except I am far from being built like his body type and he isn't holding a cup of coffee in this photo.

Thanks goes out to @Levy2628 for our latest trade. I look forward to the next one!

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

This is all I have right now for my Guardians collection other than a few inserts and an almost base set from the first movie.

I am always looking to add more as there is a lot more to chase. An autograph would be nice as well, especially a Nebula one.

I hope everyone has a magnificent Monday.

The Rise Of Marvel

*sits down to open laptop. begins to google a list of Marvel movies in order to use in today's post. *

*takes a sip*

*copies and pastes a list to edit, takes another sip, looks at nearby cards and is ready to go for today's post*

This summer I didn't go on any trips. I didn't take any adventures away from home. I didn't go to any theme parks, fairs or even wild crazy Walmart card shopping adventures. Outside of going to the grocery store, running errands, spending time with family my summer was a quiet one. One that didn't cost a lot of money for the money I don't have.

However, with that time I discovered a new passion in life, watching Marvel Movies.

*takes a sip*

The first movie I watched was Guardians Of The Galaxy and from there, I was hooked. The wit, humor and action in the movie had me. I followed that up with Guardians Of The Galaxy Two and then started to expand my watching.

Up until this summer, the only Marvel character I had any interest in was Spider-Man. I grew up watching that cartoon and thought he was the coolest, other than Batman. I also watched the three-what I consider OG movies-that featured Tobey Maguire. But, never had interest in watching the newer ones. Well, as my summer went on, I took a dip into those and really liked them.

The first one I watched was Spider-Man Homecoming.
Which featured a younger cast for the characters in this universe. Aunt May, hey eyes on the writing I see them drifting upward, was played by Marisa Tomei instead of an elderly woman.

MJ was played by Zendaya who is believed to be a rising star in Hollywood.

And Spider-Man was played by Tom Holland. Who I thought played the role really well.

The movie was the 16th movie in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) order. I didn't watch any of the movies in order so I can't remember which order I saw this one. I just wished I had watched them in order, but I chose the ones I wanted to see first, then I have gone back and tried to watch the others in order.

Here are the movies, crossed out, I have seen this summer in the MCU.

Phase One (2008-2012)
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
Marvel’s The First Avengers

(I didn't watch the Hulk since they replaced the actor from that one in the movies following. I felt it would take away from what I have seen)

Phase Two (2013-2015)
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man

(Ant-Man was better than I thought it would be, same with Thor)

Phase Three (2016-2019)
Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Thor: Ragnarok

Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War
Ant-Man and the Wasp

Captain Marvel
Avengers: Endgame
Spider-Man: Far From Home

(I have been holding off on Black Panther, it appeared to be boring but I probably will watch it next then Captain Marvel)

The Multiverse Saga: Phase Four (2021-2022)
Black Widow
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Eternals
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Thor: Love and Thunder
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

(I am lacking in this group. Black Widow, Shang-Chi and Eternals didn't look that exciting, but I will give them a try. Wakanda will have to wait until I watch the first and I believe Doctor Strange will be one of the next movies I am watching)

Phase Five (2023-2024)
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The Marvels

(Ant-Man is coming up in my next three, The Marvels releases soon but I have to watch the other first)

This is just the movie part of the universe, there are also spinoff shows on Disney+. The one that intrigues me most is Loki, which is the spinoff from Thor.

But, I am going to finish the movies first.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I have started a fairly small collection of Marvel cards from these movies including the cards above and I am always looking for more. Especially autographs and relic cards from the movies.

Here is where I would rank my wants most in order,
Guardians Of The Galaxy
Spider-Man
The Avengers
Thor
Ant-Man

Then anything else.

I hope in comments you will let me know if you enjoyed any of these movies and went as crazy as I did watching them.

Hope you have a great Tuesday.

Marvel At These Beauties!

*has coffee ready to go, a stack of cards and it's time for a new Cards Over Coffee*

A few weeks ago, my wife bought me 20 stamps to use for PWE trading and what usually I can stretch out for awhile, ended up being used up within a week. That's almost three PWE trades a day which is a lot for me and honestly, it was. I couldn't keep up with it and trying to pack it up all seemed like a hassle that not even coffee could help with.

I did manage to push through and get them all packed up and sent out, it took way longer than I hoped with 17 going out in one day, but it was over with and I got some great cards in return.

One of those mail day returns came from a new trader I had just started making multiple trades with on Twitter, @tony_collection

*takes a sip before showing off the goods*

Anthony has been known to trade me some great non sport cards in the past and this time was no different putting a focus on Marvel cards, especially a set I am really hoping to build.

As soon as I saw one of these 1994 Marvel Masterpieces Silver Holofoils a few months ago, I knew it had to become my next set chase.

And in this trade, I was able to get half of the set complete with landing five of the ten cards. Also, I may have added some coffee humor with each. Hope you enjoy the side notes.
(how I feel without coffee)

(my favorite card from the set and me staring at a nearby Dunkins)

(how my wife summons me by brewing coffee)

(how I feel after a dark cup of coffee)

and on top of this, I also traded for a few more cool looking Marvel cards called Power Blasts.
(my wife after seeing me on my fourth cup)

(me after the fourth cup)

(me summoning a fifth cup)

And as a surprise bonus,
Anthony tossed in this great acetate card of Silver Surfer. (me when eating a donut with my coffee)

Thanks again to @tony_collection for the trade and amazing bonus card.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

This wasn't all of the cards in this trade, the rest will post tomorrow for tomorrow's holiday.

For today though, I want you to tell me which character above best represents you and coffee or let me know your favorite card of the group or favorite Marvel character.

Hope everyone has a great rest of their Wednesday, it's almost the weekend.
