It's That Time Of Year Again

It's that time of year again.

*coffee is poured to warm up the body*

*sip taken*

The snow had just fallen for the first actual accumulation amount.

Which was roughly 1-3 inches, but even now it has stuck to the ground so I guess it may be staying.

It's also that time of year again where the countdown to Christmas is on! As anyone who reads this blog should know, Christmas is my favorite time of year.

(Of course I have had my decorations up before Thanksgiving.) Shhhhh! Don't tell! Or I may get Thanksgiving protestors outside of my house!

*takes a nervous sip*

And it's also that time of year again where I start new sorting projects for the dreadful winter months ahead. It's the best way to keep the distraction away from the cold and snow. Don't get me wrong though as I love a white Christmas as much as Bing Crosby, but after that, it can melt away.

Except it doesn't. It usually hangs around until end of March and even into April some years. So, I every year I create projects.

One project I kept pushing off for a while is sleeving inserts and putting them into new boxes. This was mainly because it's been tough finding time to do such a time-consuming project. Which right now I am typing about it instead of actually doing it for example.

I took one for the team this time.

It's so time consuming because first I have to sort them all by team. This goes for every sport by the way.

Then I Card Sleeve (penny sleeves) them, write the team down on a Trading Card Divider.

Then add it to this 3200 Count Storage Box. It's a long process but once I gain some momentum and find some time with it, it moves along a little faster. By little faster I am talking about a turtle to sloth speed to maybe an 80-year-old grandmother running.

Keep in mind again that I do this for four sports. Though basketball and hockey aren't as bad as football and baseball.

So far in my project, I have only completed baseball and basketball. I still have baseball and hockey to accomplish. However, I just had a box of inserts sent to me this weekend by long time reader/fan/friend Grady M that will have to be broken down into sport piles, teams and sleeved. I want to get done what I had started first then tackle his new stuff.

I also plan to show off some favorites from that Grady package as well.

This is just one of a few projects I have planned. A few others are,
  • Moving my player collections from boxes back into binders
  • Pulling all 90's inserts from ALL inserts and player collections to create a new 90's card box or binder
  • combining boxes
  • finishing up labeling binders to put into my notebook for easier looking up
That should be enough projects with everything else in my life going on to keep me busy until I can see my spring flowers beginning to pop up.

*takes a final sip before closing up today's post*

I am actually curious for those of you who get winter, how many of you create hobby projects to get by? And what are those projects? Let me know in comments.

As for me, I probably need to get off the computer and take advantage of the little time I have today and finish more up.

In the meantime, enjoy your cup of coffee. I know I will need another soon to sort.

IT'S DONE!

*celebratory brew has been prepared, creamered and sitting by the laptop. it's time for some cards over coffee*

*takes a sip*

What started off as a goofy idea, turned out to be a full-blown chase.

In 2022, I opened up a decent amount of Score football and pulled a couple of Kenny Golladay parallels. I am not sure what came upon me when I did, but I decided I needed to chase the rainbow.

And not the Skittles one.

I knew this wasn't going to be an easy task with 26 parallels to chase in Score. Twenty...SIX. They put way too many parallels out there now and this is low number compared to some in 2023 and 2024 where it was upwards to 40 and more.

Despite knowing the challenges ahead, I still pushed myself to do it.

And now finally, after two long years of chasing, I finally found the final piece.

Which wasn't even the 1/1. It was this Stars parallel /399. I assumed a ton of these would pop up being numbered that high, but this was the only one in two years I saw.

So, I put it into the magnetic case I put the rest of them into so it can go into the BCW Interlocking card frame I have set up.

It felt so great to finally lock it into place after so long. I had to enjoy a nice cup of joe to go along with this moment.

And here is the big reveal. I should add four more frames to this and maybe snag some of the autographed versions of this card to fill in the other spots or maybe I should just leave it as is.

Let me know your thoughts on what I should fill in the empty spots with in comments.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

There is no better feeling than accomplishing a big hobby project like this one. Rainbow chases are hard and not something I ever suggest trying unless you have a lot of patience.

For me, it was two-years of wondering if I started this project and it wouldn't be able to finish it. I am not sure if I could have handled that. Just glad it worked out in the end, and I didn't have to go down that road.

Thanks for reading and hope you all have a great weekend.

Can't Believe I Forgot!

Well, I can't say I am sitting down for a cup of coffee right now as it's 9:30 pm as I type this, but I can say I am a bit disappointed in myself!

Here I was thinking all along that Sunday is National Coffee Day when all along today was the day!!! I missed an entire day of celebrating! Not that I didn't already have my three cups at home, but I know some coffee places hold special deals on days like this. I would have made a Dunkin' run for a deal on a Pumpkin Spice coffee.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

*pulls what little hair is left on head*

I am not completely wrong about Sunday, as that is International Coffee Day and both are celebrated the same, just two days apart.

You better believe I won't be missing that one. Though I think they should just do all three days for the celebration.

It's getting late and I need to get to bed so I can wake up and have more coffee.

I hope all of you took advantage of today's holiday!

Happy Coffee Day everyone!

Framed

*it's been a week since I last posted on here, I think it's time to get a new post up on Cards Over Coffee*

*takes a sip*

Awhile back on Twitter, I saw BCW Supplies tweet out something I found extremely cool and wanted for my collection and card room. Though I don't have a lot of wall space for this item......yet. I will make room.

The item I speak about are these BCW Interlocking Card Frames and I was able to land myself three boxes of them to show off to you guys today.

Each box comes with 6 individual card frames and 6 toploaders for the cards you will be framing. Each of the boxes currently run $40.99 on the BCW Website and can be found HERE.

*takes a sip before moving on with today's post*

*opens up the box of card frames and dumps it out*
Along with a pile of frames, toploaders and inner pieces you find the instructions. But, being a man, who needs those.

*checks over shoulder to see if wife is glaring after watching the last thing I put together without instructions*

*looks over at the crooked bench*

Honestly though, you don't really need them anyways. These are so easy that I can put them together while holding a cup of coffee.
Here is what the back of these card frames look like.

First, here is the card I have chosen and I toploaded it with the included toploader. Well, one of many cards I have chosen. I thought my 2012 Topps Chrome rainbow of Rueben Randle would look pretty cool in these.

Second, you put the card face down in the holder.

Third, you put the back piece over the slots and line it up.

Fourth, once you have slid that piece down, you can slide it into position, and you will feel when you have it in the right spot.

And....
That's it. You have your first card framed.

*takes a sip. starts to feel the tummy grumbling for some food*

Since I decided to frame the rainbow and not just one card, I want them interlocked together.
Here are the instructions for this part.

Once again, it's pretty self-explanatory. But, BCW also has a Tutorial Video if what I show you here or the instructions are too complicated.

*takes a sip before moving on*
Each side of the frames have an interlocking piece and a piece it interlocks into.

Line them up correctly side by side. Notice how one piece has the screw hole and one doesn't.

Get a flat head screwdriver and put it into the screw hole frame side.

Turn it until you feel it click into place. Then do the second one which is below the first one. Or vice versa depending on where you started.

And that's it. They are interlocked and waiting for you to add more or to hang.

To do one that attaches to the bottom, just line it up to the top one and use the screw holes from that one to interlock the two with the flat head screwdriver again.

Easy peasy, lemon...well...coffee goes down easy.

Here are 6 of my cards interlocked.

And here are 10. There are 3 other cards in this rainbow but those are graded so they won't fit the frames. Don't ask why I have 3 graded as I don't care for graded cards but that's how I found them cheaper for my rainbow.

I think this looks really cool and I actually wouldn't even mind them being apart and hung separately either. Though it's much easier to have them all together.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Let me know what you think about these in comments today. Is it something you would use? What would you display if so?

My thoughts, they look nice and are so simple to use.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
