The Three Blog Mailings

With so much to catch up on, I have been using nighttime to get some blogging done and trying to keep pace with what I have to get posted. The only problem with this is that I am using the little bit of free time I have to do this. Which means blogging is taking place of sorting cards or playing a game of Madden.

As I get caught up, I will have to find a better balance so I can enjoy all three downtime things.

But here I am until then.

When I took a couple months off in the fall, which by the way was a nice refresher, I struggled with getting mail days which led to no content to post about and led to thoughts of retirement from blogging.

Things started to change in December as my mailbox found quite a few mainly from bloggers, former bloggers and possible future bloggers.

Like Crocodile Sports Cards who I won a football prize pack from his contest.

The box was loaded with vintage (like actual vintage in the 70's, 90's is not vintage), 90's, and even cards from today. A mix of teams, players, rookies and a few stars.

Some examples to follow,

(absolutely adore this card)

Thanks Croc!

Then there was a very generous mail day from The Diamond King that arrived pretty fast despite how slow the mail was around the holidays,
A Trout for my player PC

Shiny!

Then came the eye candy of an Shohei Ohtani rookie! Pretty stoked to add this one.

Thanks DK!

And finally, Johnny's Trading Spot saw my comment on one of his recent posts

About this Keenan McCardell and how I didn't have it for my set chase. Guess what, the always generous guy sent it my way. Now I can cross this one off! With this addition, I now have 36 of the 120 or so autographs. I am not sure I will ever be able to tackle the big boys but would be fun to try and get close. Here is my list of needs if you are curious or have some help for me:1995 Pro Line Autographs

Thanks as always Johnny!

This is just the beginning of the fun mail days I have to share.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday! I have basketball practice tonight to prep for our first game tomorrow so I know I will have a great one...and busy one.

The 2025 Cards Over Coffee Hall Of Fame Returns

*coffee is hot and ready and I am ready for a new #CardsOverCoffee*

Hall Of Fame. It's where the best of the best go.

And that's where they will go in 2025 as the great turnout in 2024 has this continuing this year.

With a little cheating by copying the previous post about this, here's the deal and here is what I need from you guys, the readers.

I have created a box where I will be storing my Coffee Card Hall Of Fame collection. In this box, every year from here on out until I can't brew anymore coffee, I will be placing FIVE cards a year voted on by you to go into the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame. However, I will need some card nominees all year for you to vote on. This is where you guys come into play again. Every post on CARDS OVER COFFEE after today until the December 1st end date, you can nominate a card or cards from any post-including box breaks-in comments of that post you think should be in the Hall for the 2024 year. These will be the nominees.

Those cards will be POSTED HERE all year long. Remember, this is a Hall Of Fame nomination. Not every card has to be a patch, autograph or low numbered, but Hall worthy. I will close nominations on December 1st and will let you guys begin the voting process (how I will do this will be determined later on) on which five cards you would choose to make it into the Hall. The cards with the most votes, get in.

Today, I will be kicking off the nominations with a card to get this started which is a card already nominated in by Matt.

Normally I wouldn't use a card from the previous year to be included in this, but the fact that Matt felt the momentum to get this started, I had to. It felt like it belonged here, and it doesn't hurt that my heart is always in it for a Griffey card.

Thanks to Matt on getting this started.

So, from today on, make sure you get those nominations in and I will do my best to remind you to do so. It will be a long year ahead so I am hoping we can nominate more cards in than last year which will lead to more fun at the end of this.

Hoping more will join in on nominating also.

Have a great Thursday.

2025 New Year's Goals

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

It's officially here. It's 2025 and I am on my very first hot cup of joe for the new year.

This year is all about fresh starts and accomplishing goals.

So, let me talk about some of those goals.

For life, I just want to be healthy and in order to do that, I need to eat a little better and lose some weight. I think ten pounds for the year will be a good goal.

For hobby, that list is a little longer as I didn't have a lot of time for cards in 2024.

  • I need to sort out all of the cards I acquired or had taken out of binders in the last few months. Which is a fair amount.
  • Put those cards away once they are sorted
  • Start to finish some of the sets I started especially the 90's ones. I need to update all of the numbers and do some more unfinished cup posts on here to see if anyone can assist with those needs.
  • The binder numbering project needs to be finished. I have another two shelves to finish at least. This project is just numbering a binder and adding the contents to a notebook
  • Penny sleeve everything I haven't yet. This will take some serious time as I need to go back through some boxes to do this
  • Binder my Eli Mannings that haven't been put away yet, fix the rest in the box
  • Clean up my card room. It's just a mess. I need it better organized to get to what I really need to get to.
  • Do some giveaways as I haven't ever really done any on here.
  • Up my PWE trades especially among bloggers. If you are interested and have some non-sport, Ken Griffey Jr, Patrick Mahomes, Caitlin Clark, NY Giants, football rookies (can be vintage), 90's inserts/parallels from any sport, team, player and is 1995-1999 (shinier the better) and have a U.S. address, hit me up at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.
For PC:
  • Reach 1,300 Eli Mannings. This is a very lofty goal. I haven't even reached 1,200 yet.
  • Add some of my most wanted non-sport autos such as Ed O'Neil, Tony Danza, and Jon Heder.
  • Try to fill in Rodney Hampton gaps of 2023 products. Many still on eBay sitting there that need to find a way to my collection
  • Add more to my "other" PC's to move me up the TCDB board. Allan Houston, Micheala Shiffrin, etc.
For blogging,
  • Decide if I can fit blogging into my schedule and continue blogging
  • Come up with new creative content
  • Take away the sipping breaks and behind the scenes content?
  • New blog layout?
  • Come up with new segments
  • Reach 500,000 views
  • Reach 80 followers
  • Blog my Giants cards on Big Blue Cardboard since they don't fare well here? Reader's thoughts? Also goes with #1 on this list with time.
I will do a few posts throughout this year and update this list as time goes on to check my progress. That way it will keep me accountable for my goals.

Let me know your thoughts on my goals, especially the blogging ones. Have any ideas on what I should add or take away or something you are interested in? What about my NY Giants cards? Should I post those on Big Blue Cardboard or keep them here? I am always welcomed to feedback.

Unless your feedback says to stop drinking coffee. I will ignore you on that one.

Have a great rest of your day.
