The Surprise At The End

My latest trade with Oren hauled me in some cool cards, especially one that was a surprise in the trade. I always find having that surprise card in our trades just adds to the excitement for the mail day to arrive not knowing what he has snuck in there.

But first, let's look at the rest of the trade I knew was incoming.
The Walking Dead base cards. I still haven't watched an episode, but still find myself adding cards from it.

Hot Diggity Dog! (for those parents out there, you will get this phrase)

A DJ mini.

Always thought this was such a cool thing. Maybe, BIG MAYBE, someday my wife and I can add to this.

I can't imagine riding a horse and playing a sport. Last time I rode a horse, let's just say the saddle didn't stay on top of the horse because someone didn't strap it well enough and I found myself in a very awkward position......

Dancing will never be for me. I dance like Elaine from Seinfeld.

I really like watching reels on Facebook, especially the ones that involve Illusions. I don't know how they do it nor do I want to know. The mystery is fun.

How cool would it be to work for ESPN?!

I'm not one for classical music, but I have some family members that are.

So, is riding a bike like riding a bike? Meaning, I haven't ridden a bike in 20 plus years, can I ride a bike as easy as riding a bike?

Being a high school football coach is on my bucket list for some day. This guy sounds like a lot of fun as he is a risk taker. Onside kicks, doesn't punt, goes for two points. Interesting approach. It wouldn't be mine as I am an old school guy when it comes to football, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't try a risk.

Parasailing and me, no. I don't like water. I don't know how to swim, and I am afraid of water. This is a big no.

And now we are onto the surprise card of the group....

1964 Topps Beatles Black And White Ringo Star. This one moves up the ranks as one of my coolest vintage non-sport cards I own.

Thanks goes out to Oren for our latest trade.

As I type this today, Oren and I just finished up yet another trade. He is keeping cards incoming to me which is good as it keeps me busy. That's until I run out of stamps!

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Before I close, I also wanted to remind you of the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame voting and that it needs you guys to nominate cards in.

Details on the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame can be found HERE. I may add this to every post from here on out for a reminder as I will forget about this too! Haha!

Banana Bread Poptarts And Cards

Wake up! It's time for coffee, cards, and a banana bread Poptart.

These things are pure fire. If you like banana bread or banana flavored things, this is for you.

*takes a sip and a bite*

Today's cards I am showing off comes thanks to yet another trade with @levy2628. He certainly knows how to get my attention with the non sport stuff.

A couple cards from Rocky II. Rocky's rookies?

Believe me Doc, you will want to go back to the past looking at this future.

Me when my wife has something she wants me to do.

I don't know what this is, but it's vintage and cool.

I honestly don't have any idea who she is, but I like Ginter non sport relics so it's been added.

I don't know Country Music all that well, but from the few names I know, it does not include Bob Carpenter. I just keep adding these Country Music autographs to my collection. Wonder how many of these I own now? I definitely did not have this one.

Then came some The Walking Dead relics. I still to this day have not seen this show. I am sure if I was as deep into horror as I used to be, I would have watched it all by now.

I do collect the cards still, especially the relics. How cool is a wine bottle swatch or a swatch from a "walker"? Cryptozoic was great with their non-sport products.

Thanks again to @levy2628 for our latest trade. I know we are already working on the next and I can't wait to show off the goods from that one.

*takes a sip, another bite, okay, I finished the first half, and gets ready to finish up today's post*

I finally finished taking care of these cards just the other day and realized that I really need to sort my non-sport cards better.  It's literally a box I have thrown stuff into. It needs to be sorted by what it is so I am not trading for stuff I already have.

I will save that project for another day.

*takes a final sip*

Before I close, I also wanted to remind you of the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame voting and that it needs you guys to nominate cards in. So far ONLY 4 cards have been nominated!!

Details on the Coffee Card Hall Of Fame can be found HERE. I may add this to every post from here on out for a reminder as I will forget about this too! Haha!

Coffee Time

*its early morning, I already just brewed my second cup of coffee and I am pumped about another new Cards Over Coffee post*

I am still a bit behind on showing off some amazing stuff on here and figured today would be a great day to catch up on one.

My buddy and Cards Over Coffee reader Oren hit me up recently with a pretty cool mail day and already has the next one out in the mail to me. It has been a lot of fun interacting via email with Oren and doing these trade exchanges. Even though this blog doesn't have the viewing content that Matt's Wonderful Blog Of Hobbies has, I am glad it is still making an impact and it brought me a new trading friend in the process.

By now, Oren has me pretty figured out in what I am looking for and has found stuff in his own collection along with picking up some stuff for me along the way as well for trading purposes.

Today's mail day had a main focus on the non sport portion of what I collect.

*takes a sip before showing off the mail day*

The first card I am showing off is a Sp Legendary cuts card of educator Booker T Washington.

Up next, Oren helped in my set chases for 2011 Topps American Pie. Most of these will be brought back again for the American Pie segment and further looked at.

Fads And Fashioned Mood Rings (my mood right now, coffee)

Hollywood Walk Of Fame Duke Ellington (I really want the Rodney Dangerfield version)

Rainbow Foil, my first one of these and it's a beaut.

A stack of base for my base set, will break these down more later on.

*takes another sip*

The next portion of my mail day involves some hits.
A Terminus Resident relic for my non sport PC. I really need to watch The Walking Dead.

This is pretty awesome. Frank Caliendo relic. If you don't know who Frank is, look him up on YouTube and some of his impressions. I crack up every time I see him do his Morgan Freeman or John Madden. He has many other great ones as well but those two are my favorites. He also starred on MADtv where I was introduced to him first.

I may not have ever seen it, but the actor who played Jimmy in the movie Bull Durham I have seen. William O'Leary, who has played in a handful of Movies and TV shows, was best known to me as Marty Taylor from Home Improvement. Marty was Tim Taylor's younger brother on the show.

And there you have it for now. I am sure the next mail day from Oren will arrive by the weekend and we will visit it while I am on vacation next week.

Thanks again Oren for this trade.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I thought I would close up today's post by showing off this cool sign I saw at Walmart recently. I was thinking it would fit perfectly on the kitchen table next to my laptop as I type up these posts. Maybe the next time I go if it is still there I will grab it.

Til then and until the next post, always remember it is coffee time and more so when you read this blog.

Maybe I should take that phrase and use it sort of like Home Improvement, I would just need Heidi to say, "Does anyone know what time it is?" Then you guys would need to respond "Coffee Time". That's when she goes on to say, "That's right, Green Mountain Dark Magic Decaf coffee is proud to present, Matt The Card Coffee Guy blogger!" The theme music comes on and I sit here to blog for you guys to read.

How does that sound? And please keep your eyes and mind off of Heidi while answering, unless she is the reason why you say yes.

A Mixed Bunch

*Sits down with coffee and computer. Everyone should know what time it is...and it's not tool time*

It's gonna be another warm one today with temperatures getting close to 90 with the humidity. A day where you don't want to use the oven inside and want to wear pretty much next to nothing. Don't worry, I am fully clothed...for now. I am sure those who are in the south adjust easily to these temps, but here in the northeast, we don't. Regardless of the temperatures though, I am still having this nice hot cup of coffee to start my day. My wife always picks on me for drinking hot coffee and not iced on a hot day but I really have to be in the right mood to drink iced.

*takes a sip of warm coffee*

On Friday, if you didn't know, it was #NationalDoughnutDay.
I had to celebrate it of course with some Munchkins to pair with my coffee. Coffee is never a side, it is always the main course and anything I have with it is the side.

With my Munchkins I always like a good variety, but don't mind if they go blueberry cake heavy either. It is by far my favorite Munchkin and even enjoyed as a full size doughnut though I would had gone Boston Cream for full size if I went that way, but I wanted some variety.

*takes another sip, wished had saved a few of those doughnuts for today*

I not only like a mixed batch of doughnuts occasionally, but I also like a mixed batch of cards in my mail day as well. It's nice to have a themed mail day, but, a mail day with some variety can "bring down the house" as variety is the spice of life.

This was the latest case with my mail day from Cards Over Coffee reader, Oren.

Once again, Oren and I pulled off another fantastic trade and last week I received my end of it.
First card is a Dazzlers of Rask. These cards bring me back to the 90's and kudos to Upper Deck for doing that for me.

A couple new Giants cards in Engram and Webb.

Some of the coolest cards out there are prop cards. This one is a Wine Bottle piece from The Walking Dead. I don't own too many prop cards, but treasure the ones that I have and always welcome more. I would take these 100% over any plain sport relic.

And it may appear I am a Walking Dead fan with as many relics I pickup, but to be honest, I haven't seen an episode. I do enjoy any non sport acquisition regardless of what movie or TV show it's from. I may however check out The Walking Dead at some point.

And the final card of this mail day is a Goodwin Champions Canine Companions card. Goodwin Champions has a really fun variety of hits to find from manufactured ones to World War/History piece to actual space relics. It's a fun product I really enjoy.

As you saw, there was a nice mixed bag of items in this mail day with plenty of Blueberry Cake.

Thanks again to Oren for the trade.

*takes a sip before closing up*

If any of you reading this today is in the heat today, play it safe. Drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun as much as you can as too much heat exposure can lead to further problems other than sweating. I plan on spending my day finding cards to send out to people for trades.

Hope everyone has a great day. If you have a favorite doughnut, let me hear it in comments! Or your thoughts on iced coffee.

100

*cup of coffee ready, computer up and running and now it's time for some Cards Over Coffee*

100 is a special number. It's a nice round crisp number and I love my numbers.

It's probably the amount of cups of coffee I had for the month of March. It's probably close to the number of cards I added for the year so far as well. And it's now the number of posts that you guys have read on Cards Over Coffee.

Welcome to post number 100.

Today, I will be showing off my latest trade with Cards Over Coffee reader, Oren, who I have now completed three trades with.

*takes a sip, maybe I can do 100 of those before this post is over*

Oren knows I am a huge non sport card collector. It doesn't matter if I have watched the show or movie. It doesn't even matter what company produced the item as I have non sport cards from Cryptozoic, Topps, Panini, and Leaf just to name a few. It also doesn't matter if I already have the item. I will take it all.

Oren had emailed me of two non sport card items he recently found and knew they would fit my collection.
First up is this wardrobe relic of a Terminus Resident from the AMC show, The Walking Dead. I have never seen an episode of the show, but know of it. It's one of those I hope to watch later on in life. I was a huge horror fan growing up and enjoyed movies like Night Of The Living Dead, Day Of The Dead and Dawn Of The Dead but since I have become an adult I have fallen more for comedies.

The second card has a Stamp Relic from 1969 embedded from it from 2019 Historic Autographs 1969 product. I think this is super cool and it's just like coins in cards with it being two hobbies in one.

Two very nice additions to the non sport collection. I would try to use the 100 here, but I know I am well above 100 non sport autograph/relic cards.

What do you guys think about the stamp relic cards like this by the way?

*takes a sip before finishing up this post*

Thanks again to Oren for yet another great trade. I look forward to our next one.

As a closing statement, thank you to every one of you coffee and card heads who have come here and read my keyboarding rambles for 100 times. Stay tuned for another 100 or more posts that I hope you come back for.

*tips my mug towards the computer to give you cheers, coffee card blogger out*
