3/6/2023

March 6th 2023.

What were you doing? Do you remember?

I don't. I am lucky if I remember what I did two days ago at this point in my life. Yes, I even forget about the good cups of coffee.

All I can recall though is that I was counting down to turning 40 in 13 days from that date.

Otherwise, blank.
But, apparently with a recent, yes RECENT mail day I was reminded I was waiting on a mail day as well.

That mail day was coming from @tacocarebear and she had mailed me a Jasson Dominguez card for free for my PC. The card had never arrived and the tracking had never been updated. I kept in contact messaging @tacocarebear back and forth about it for a few months and by late summer last year, I had completely given up and forgotten about the card.

And then out of nowhere last week, it arrived.

A year and a half later.

The tracking for the card showed no history other than it arriving in CT on July 23rd 2024 and if I wanted to do an expand search on it for tracking, USPS wanted to charge me. Though I was curious, I wasn't going to give the USPS any further funds for their mess ups.

I was just happy the card actually showed up.

Funny enough, the card is a 2021 Mosaic International Men Of Mastery. I guess he was a master of going into hiding....maybe Internationally. Who knows.

I know USPS has been bad recently but didn't expect this bad. I don't think I have ever seen this level bad before.

Thanks to @tacocarebear for the card.

I may not have remembered much about 3/6/3023, but now it may be a date I never forget.

Getting Bent Over By The USPS

Coffee is as hot and angry as I am this morning.

This just means it's time for a new, rant edition of #CardsOverCoffee.

*takes an angry sip*

Is it just me...or is the USPS having some serious issues in the last couple of months?

Let's see....
  • They have lost 4 PWE's I had incoming.
  • They made a couple of my PWE's disappear into thin air and then reappear to my recipient 6 to 7 weeks later than expected.
  • Mail is slow both receiving and sending
  • Some mail has come partially opened
  • And finally...the first case of this...damaged mail
This is what happened with my recent mail day trade with blog reader and friend, Oren.

*takes another angry sip*

Not all of my cards were damaged that came from Oren in this trade.

These three 2015 Americana base were fine. I still need to see if I have a complete set of this or maybe more than one. I opened a ton of it.

John McAfee is a businessman and a two-time presidential candidate.

Fans Of The Game of Sam Bradford. If you don't remember Sam, he was mainly known/drafted/played for the Rams from 2010-2014. He was the OROY in 2010.

I don't know who Riff Raff is or his songs, but digging his style.

Bri Baker was a contestant on Master Chef. I like anything that has to do with food, especially food that goes well with coffee.

I had to Google Robert Pollard. I had no idea who he was. He is a musician for the group, Guided By Voices. Have never heard of them.

I still haven't watched a single episode of Stranger Things, but sounds like I need to. Mix of 80's nostalgia and monsters.....yup...right up my alley.

Lana Turner relic was the surprise of the trade. Oren occasionally throws a blind curveball into our trades. Lana was one of the highest paid actresses in the 1940's. Can't say I have ever seen anything she was in, but this is still a very exciting PC add.

And now...here's the part I get bent over by the USPS. And not in the Matchbox 20 way.
2 cards were badly bent.

And bent so bad they were creased.

And sadly unsavable. I really liked these too!

Thanks USPS. This is sarcasm.

Thanks to Oren for the trade!! This was not sarcasm.

I had to make sure I clarified that because sometimes you can read someone's reaction through a keyboard.

*takes another angry sip before finishing up today's post*

It has gotten so bad with the USPS, that I am now at the point that I worry about anything coming and going from my house. I constantly am checking with people I mail to just to make sure their package or PWE arrived. It shouldn't be like that. It didn't used to be like that.

Let me know in comments today if you have experienced any of these issues.

Have a great Thursday. And don't let the USPS bite.

They Wanted A Peek

*sits down, takes a sip and gets ready for a new post on Cards Over Coffee*

I thought before I dug into today's post, that I would show off this really cool coffee mug my wife got for her birthday in March. Yes, I am a bit behind on showing it off.

When someone says they can drink a pot of coffee, this must be what they are talking about. Or what it must look like to some. Such a cool mug and I know you will agree with me in comments.

Now onto today's post.

*considers using his wife's mug, but decides to continue on with what he is drinking. maybe another day*

*takes a sip*

I am not sure what is going on with the USPS recently, but they lost a card someone sent me, my mail volume has been down, all of the packages I have been waiting for have taken forever to arrive, there was a pwe covered in a strong women's perfume (why couldn't it have been coffee?) and now I got an envelope that the machine caught on and someone snuck a sneak peek at what I got.

This card was a RAK from my long time Twitter friend, JGfan24ever. As you can see, the machine must have caught it, but you can also tell it looks like someone tried to rip it more open.

Fortunately, he had taped the card to the inside of the envelope because who knows what may have happened to it.

And here is the card. It's nothing expensive or valuable but is a new piece for my Christmas PC. I can only imagine if this was something more than a base card short print someone may have snagged it from the envelope. It was opened enough to do so.

Hopefully whatever is going on at USPS, they fix the problem soon.

I did want to take a second out to say thanks to Michael for the RAK.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I want to know in comments if any of you have dealt with any issues with USPS recently? Or maybe its just me. Have you ever had a card stolen or lost? Let me know.

Hope you have a terrific Tuesday and enjoy that cup of coffee!
