*coffee is finished and now will be brought to the table as well. i hope you have yours ready to*
Other than 90's Spx, one of the other base card sets I have been chasing for every sport in that era is Ex.
I have so far completed the Ex2000, Ex2001 football sets, I still need Ex-Century. I have added a couple cards here and there from basketball for all three sets but with MJ, Kobe and some key rookies, I don't ever expect to finish those.
But, one I am hoping to finish that I am soooooooooooooooo close on is today's Unfinished Cup special.
*takes a sip before moving on, you can take a sip as well.*
The 1997 Ex2000 baseball card set has been a working progress since 1997. I have been adding cards here and there to the set but haven't ever finished the 100-card base set. Which I will also toss in that this is my favorite set of the three Ex versions.
I took to Twitter in hopes I can finally fill this unfinished cup but there was no help there.
So, I turn to you blogger family and anyone who may read this. I am card #95 Barry Bonds base card away, do any of you have this to help me finish? (updated this on July 12th 2022)
If you do, let me know!!
In my next post in this series, I am also looking for help with my 1998 Ex2001 baseball card set. I tell you this now just in case you want to dig those out for the next post.
*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*
I am hoping to finally close the book on this long sought-after set.
Before I completely close up today's post, I wanted to show off the new nomination for the COFFEE CARD HALL OF FAME,
This card was nominated by Jafronius. This is the first nominee since the Kurt Warner I added in. I also wanted to post this as a reminder to make sure you remember to nominate some cards as well.....but only if you feel they are Hall Worthy.
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

As an outsider looking in, the solution to your problem seems fairly simple: Next time your at Walmart contemplating the purchase of some overpriced new box or pack, just walk away, go home, then get on Sportlots and use that money that was saved to finish your set, and possibly a few others.
ReplyDeleteI still prefer to open up that overpriced pack or box. I love to open stuff and that's my favorite hobby thing to do. However, most of the time that wax I open is traded with my father and others, which is what I hope to do with the contents I don't need for my own collection. Trading brings a bond, was hoping someone on here would read this, have the cards I need and trade me. So far, still no luck.
DeleteThat Lockett is a great looking card (of course this is coming from a Hawks fan). Best of luck with your set build. If I were you, I'd follow Jon's lead and probably just find a seller on Sportlots who has the five cards you need. Even if you had to pay $1 to $2 each, you could call the set complete for around $10 (maybe less).
ReplyDeleteWas really hoping for a trading partner on these with some of the stuff I pulled from breaks. Since most of the breaks I do is from trades lol
