This Mail Day Was Rocky

*sits down in day surgery waiting room for his wife, has chocolate milk by side instead of coffee since couldn't find the decaf. this will be a long morning*

One of my favorite threads on X, hate calling it that, is Tuesday's Non-Sport buy, sell, trade thread as my collection leans more towards collecting a lot more non-sport.

I will spend a good ten minutes weekly scrolling through to see if anything catches my eye. Sometimes I will go back the next day and look just to double check.

It may say Buy, Sell, Trade on the thread name, but most of that thread is all about the SELLING aspect (my finances are not in order to do any buying), but there are some fellow collectors on there as well who still enjoy a good ole fashioned trade.

This past week's edition after a couple of weeks of finding nothing I needed or wanted to contact anyone about, @GCRTtravelers posted out a piece I had to have for my nostalgic collection.

It was a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers autograph piece from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie.

 

The autograph featured on the piece is from the second Red Ranger on the show Rocky DeSantos. The piece is signed by the actor Steve Cardenas.

It didn't take long after contacting @GCRTtravelers , that he and I came to a trade agreement and within two quick days the piece was in my hands.

That's the kind of trade I like!

Thanks again to @GCRTtravelers for the trade and for not making it a real "rocky" experience! I hope others on that thread jump on trading more as well. I think it would be a great experience for all.

This is the second autograph in my Mighty Morphin Power Rangers collection. My other one is Jason David Frank who was my favorite on the show. His is signed on an action figure from the Mighty Morphin movie. My next big want is Kimberly. I need my childhood crushes autograph and found out she doesn't do TTM so will have to find another route.

Worth The Year Wait

I have a circle of friends who I consider to be my top traders in the hobby which are the ones that I trade with most.

I also know some of them can't always mail right away, but I know when they do and when I get it, the wait will be worth it.

Just like my latest trade with @90snichefootballcard on Twitter. Bryan and I have been trading for years, roughly ten, and every time I get a mail day from him, it's incredible.

So, this one may have taken roughly a year, but it was so worth it.

Just wait and see.

*takes a sip of freshly brewed brew*

I won't be posting all of this remarkable mail day on here, you will have to check the rest out on Big Blue Cardboard so if you aren't following that blog yet, do so.

But here is what I will be sharing,

Bryan jammed packed this box with all of the goodies. There are actually more cards in here than it looks, I won't be posting them all because of this and just pulled out some for both blogs.

I have been wanting this Judge card as he is walking among the "happy little trees" and I really think he is actually a giant among them. I really, really want the Griffey like this as well. Do you have one? Let me know!!

Never wrong with getting a Judge refractor.

He is the ringleader of the Bomb Squad this year sending out bombs all over the ballparks.

One of my favorite insert designs over the years was Unleashed. For a while I was trying to chase the entire set for a variety of years, I gave that up but still have the ones I collected and will always take more in. I simply learned you can't collect it all.

I am not sure what they call this parallel, but I am digging it.

Panini should take note on how Topps still uses game used jerseys in their products and not this jersey wasn't worn by anyone at any time at any place in particular and was just printed off the presses. Sorry, it had to be said.

The next four cards I found exceptional.

   

A fun holiday chase. I wonder if there are more parallels in the run. I feel like it needs to be finished now. Either way, these make a great addition to my holiday PC.

And finally, for the part of the mail day I am posting on here, at the bottom of the box were two Gold Rush envelopes.

Before I show those off, I need some coffee.

The first autograph I thought about showing off on Big Blue Cardboard but decided just to keep it here to make it easier on me.

Joe Morris the 5'7 beast who helped the Giants win Super Bowl XXI.

  

Goose Gossage was in the other envelope. He has one of the nicest Yankee signatures other than Mariano Rivera (still need his).

This mail day was sort of like Christmas when it arrived since it took awhile, but if I can get one of these every year, once again wait until you see the series of posts on Big Blue Cardboard, it was well worth the year wait.

You have to break open that $700 box of cards...

You have to flip that...

You have to sell, sell, sell....

You have to follow this guy's tips....

You have to set up an eBay store...

You have to run stack sales....

You have to own this prospects autograph....

You have to, You have to, You have to....

I don't have to do any of that.

I like to live dangerously.

I like to collect and collect what I like.

And what I like is probably something nobody else wants, except you know what, me. And does that matter to me, nope.

So, if I want to spend less than $5 on a rare Glow-In-The-Dark Darkwing Duck set of VHS cards, I will.

 

Because this was one of my favorite cartoons growing up and it means more to me than a red-hot prospect autograph.

However, even though there isn't a You Have To in this post, doesn't mean there isn't a I Have To. Because there are eight cards in this set, I have to finish this set especially since two of the final four I need are my favorite characters. It won't be easy as not many of these are listed anywhere so if anyone sees the final four, let me know.

And YOU don't have to drink coffee it's just recommended, though I have to.

Coffee With Lou Ferrigno

Today's autograph I have been wanting for some time but couldn't quite ever get my hands onto.

A few times it slipped through the cracks with last second bids which made me very angry.

You wouldn't like me when I am angry.

*proceeds to turn green, picks up laptop getting ready to throw it. realizes autograph sits on desk, calms down and turns back to regular color*

If you haven't figured it out yet...today's autograph is of the man of green himself, Mr Hulk, Lou Ferrigno!

 

And even though The Incredible Hulk series ran on television before I was born...which makes me angry as well that I couldn't have watched it live.....

You wouldn't like me when I am angry.

*starts to turn green again, pauses, makes a cup of coffee, calms down and returns to typing*

....I was still able to watch it on reruns on SCFY channel I believe when I visited my grandmother.

I was always a nerd/geek so this kind of thing was up my alley.

Another place I saw Lou was on King Of Queens as he played himself on the show as the neighbor. 

Why couldn't they bring back King Of Queens?! I loved that show. That makes me angry.

*turns green again, gets ready to hulk smash the coffee cup into the computer and realizes doesn't want to waste coffee, sits down, takes sip and continues on*

I am pretty thrilled to have added this autograph to my collection, just like another one I just added to. That one will come in a future post.

Unfinished Cup:1995 Stadium Club Ground Attack

Okay, I am going to admit, when I think about 30 years ago, I am putting myself in the 1970's.

The harsh reality is that 30 years ago was the 1990's.

So, when I think back to my favorite years of the hobby 1995-1999, it's hard to comprehend how long ago that was now.

Which makes it even harder when a set like the one that pops up for today's post and feels like it just came out yesterday.

BUT IT'S BEEN 30 YEARS.

I am feeling old or as some of my family and friends joke, I am old.

The other sad part is that I have many sets just like the one today that I haven't finished up yet even after the thirty years. I feel like it's finally time to do that.

And it starts with this one.

Especially since that set only has one card to go.

  

1995 Stadium Club Ground Attack was a foil-based set found in packs at the odds of 1:18. I am officially only missing card #8 which is the dual threat of Byron Morris/Eric Pegram.

I am not sure why I haven't added this card yet. Maybe was hoping a reader had an extra copy to help me finish this or maybe because of my old age I forgot that I am only one away. Either way, this needs to be completed.

Feeling The Heat

I am not sure what is hotter, the 90-degree temperatures outside, the cup of coffee that sits in front of me or my recent mail days from fellow bloggers.

Let's just say out of those three things, only one I can tolerate.

*takes a burning sip...ouch*

I hate losing cards, but apparently I did that again losing all four of my base 2015 Topps Allen&Ginter Impractical Jokers cards. I was trying to find a way to get them back and thought of people who may have opened a decent amount of Allen&Ginter. One blogger came to mind immediately, Nachos Grande.

He didn't have all four, but did have two of them which getting any back was great.

Especially when it's Joe who is my favorite Joker.

The Murr isn't a base, but is a cool Mini. I may still seek the base but now have an extra cool collectible. This time I will place them in a binder and not in a messy card room.

Thanks again Chris! I will hit you back when I have time to dive into the boxes I need to.

Up next, I got a surprise mail day in the mail from Gavin at Baseball Card Breakdown who sent some really cool items. Cooler than this cup of coffee still is for sure.

It was great to hear from Gavin again since it had been so long.

But he still nailed everything I collect.

  

I don't collect a lot of Yankees anymore, but Jeter I do. He will always be my favorite Yankee. These customs are super nice and high-quality work.

I didn't know these had refractors, and definitely wouldn't have guessed they are numbered, this one is /100.

Dexy! He is the best player on the Giants, I think. He will be once again a dominant force this upcoming season.

I don't think the Giants gave Hill enough time as he has played well for Cincy, but I will always accept his cards in blue.

The last card he sent which apparently got deleted on here or melted off from here because of the sun, was a numbered Ottis Anderson Prime Signatures card.

I sure hope this cup of coffee cools down, but most importantly the weather. I don't like the heat. However, I do like the heat/fire that the bloggers send out, that's the only kind I will welcome.

Going Looney For 750

Today marks post 750 on Cards Over Coffee and I am going Looney for it!

Looney for Looney Tunes that is!

*takes a sip from a freshly brewed cup. thinks about grabbing a bowl of cereal for Saturday morning cartoons..oh wait*

I can't remember a Saturday morning growing up where Looney Tunes didn't make some kind of appearance on my television. I remember that it was one of the last cartoons of the day and even though I wanted to go outside, I made sure to take a few minutes out to give it a watch.

Looney Tunes have been on and off cardboard for a while and I have added some along the way, but it wasn't until I found out that Upper Deck combined them with Fleer/Skybox products from the 90's, that's when it really hit home.

2024 Fleer Retro Looney Tunes comes with everything you expected from 90's Fleer/Skybox. You can find Ultra, Z-Force, Skybox Premium, Fleer Metal, PMG's, Golden Touch, Ex, Thrill Seekers, Essential Credentials, Gold Medallions, Platinum Medallions, Rubies, and even some Jambalaya and sooooooooo much more. The inserts are also creatively done.

The product also mixes all years of Looney Tunes. Including those from the old cartoons all the way to the newer ones. For me, it's all about the classics.

All of this led to me going out to acquire a few of the cards. I already had a few base that reader Oren had passed along, but I wanted to give a few other cards from the product a try.

Like EX. It's just like the 90's version. Printed on acetate and with harder cardboard center. Such a beautiful card and now I want the 50-card set. It will be a new chase that I started with one of my favorite memorable characters. If you know, you know...Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal!

Up next, everyone knows I like shiny, so I discovered the Red Dots /399 parallel in the Metal section of the product. This would be a fun 50-card set chase as well.

I know I added two frog cards, but I wouldn't say he is my top character. I mean it's really hard to beat Bugs as my favorite. Though some days I feel more like Elmer Fudd in the hobby, always chasing that certain card (rabbit) and never getting it.
