Coffee With Alec Baldwin

Another hot day here. Feeling quite Schweddy today.

Hopefully I don't end up with some Schweddy.....

Well, use your own imagination there.

One of my favorite sketches ever on SNL has to be the Scweddy Balls skit with Alec Baldwin.

So, guess what....

I added his autograph.

He was also great in Beetlejuice (take note that I posted one of his co-stars autograph Geena Davis a few days ago), his narration in Thomas and Friends, voice acting in Boss Baby, and let's not forget an underrated film, Cat In The Hat. Even though Cat In The Hat had a lot of negative reviews, if you watch the movie as an adult and understand the adult humor in it, you will enjoy it. I promise.

Pretty happy with this addition, we won't talk about the recent controversy surrounding him. Let's just talk about all of the Schweddy-ness instead.

I hope everyone has a great Friday.

In comments today, tell me your favorite SNL skit and what your favorite Alec Baldwin movie or television show is.

Coffee With Geena Davis

I am going to be honest, I love sports, but I am no sports movie fan.

There are very few sports movies I enjoy and watch time and time again. I just feel like most sports movies are beating the same old storyline into the ground. Someone rises up from a tough life and becomes some superstar. Been there, seen that.

I like movies that are a little outside of that.

So, my favorites are on a very short list. Well, three I would consider classics I could watch time and time again.

The Sandlot-Comedy, a giant beast and backyard baseball like I used to play with my friends. Boy, I miss those days.
Little Giants-a bunch of "losers" get together and play football against some all-pros. Some laughter and the legendary actors of Rick Moranis and Ed O'Neill (need both autos still). Childish humor, but solid for this childish adult.

And then comes the sports movie with probably the most famous one-liner that everyone will know.

A League Of Their Own. A comedy/drama loaded with big names, great story and the classic line, "There's NO crying in baseball!!"

And I picked up the autograph of who I consider to be the star of the show. Well, on the field, Geena Davis who has also been in a ton of other big movies like Beetlejuice, Thelma And Louise and the Stuart Little movies just to name a few.

Davis plays Dottie Hinson who went from waiting for her husband to return from the war to the super star catcher on the field. Everyone laughed at the thought of a women's baseball league after World War II threatened to shut down the MLB season, but things changed quickly once the girls started to play led by the popularity of Dottie. It kind of reminds me of the WNBA. They had no fans, were probably about to close up shop then Caitlin Clark comes in and drives revenue up by selling out arenas.

Interesting.

Another thing I thought was cool about the movie and Geena, is that I read somewhere that she performed some of her own stunts in the movie including the famous "split catch". That's pretty cool.

There is just a lot of moments in the movie and the story is one that kept my attention. I like also the mix of humor and drama. It may actually rank as my favorite sports movie of the three. Don't tell anyone this ;)

In comments, let me know some of your favorite sports movies, your favorite Geena Davis film, and if you liked or have seen A League Of Their Own.

Hope everyone has a great night or morning depending on when you are reading this.

Coffee With Lou Ferrigno

Today's autograph I have been wanting for some time but couldn't quite ever get my hands onto.

A few times it slipped through the cracks with last second bids which made me very angry.

You wouldn't like me when I am angry.

*proceeds to turn green, picks up laptop getting ready to throw it. realizes autograph sits on desk, calms down and turns back to regular color*

If you haven't figured it out yet...today's autograph is of the man of green himself, Mr Hulk, Lou Ferrigno!

And even though The Incredible Hulk series ran on television before I was born...which makes me angry as well that I couldn't have watched it live.....

You wouldn't like me when I am angry.

*starts to turn green again, pauses, makes a cup of coffee, calms down and returns to typing*

....I was still able to watch it on reruns on SCFY channel I believe when I visited my grandmother.

I was always a nerd/geek so this kind of thing was up my alley.

Another place I saw Lou was on King Of Queens as he played himself on the show as the neighbor.

Why couldn't they bring back King Of Queens?! I loved that show. That makes me angry.

You wouldn't like me when I am angry.

*turns green again, gets ready to hulk smash the coffee cup into the computer and realizes doesn't want to waste coffee, sits down, takes sip and continues on*

I am pretty thrilled to have added this autograph to my collection, just like another one I just added to. That one will come in a future post.

Let me know your favorite show or movie you have seen Lou in.

*takes a final sip for the post*

Coffee With Boyz II Men

I have my coffee in hand and I am ready to have some Coffee With....Boyz II Men!!!

*takes a sip*

For those of us who grew up in the 90's and listened to the radio, you can't tell me that you wouldn't know at least one song by Boyz II Men.

They were that big.

And I was a big fan.

*takes another sip, puts a song on YouTube of theirs to listen to while putting together this post*

When I was scrolling Twitter, I saw a collector post that this year's Pop Century had Boyz II Men autographs, and at that exact moment, I knew I had to have them.

The collector who posted had a triple autograph card of them, but according to my gift card budget, that wasn't going to work.

That's when I found out that each singer had their own card as well and that was something I could jump all over. For some reason, they were cheaper apart then together on a card.

So, I did.
Up first was Nathan Morris who is the founding member of the group.

Next was Wanya Morris who has no relation to Nathan besides his love of music and singing. He also was on the 22nd season of Dancing With The Stars.

Shawn Stockman is a singer and a song writer.

(side note, the group turned to four singers sometime in the 90's but the guy had to leave in the early 2000's due to health issues)

Some of my favorite songs of theirs were all of their biggest hits such as,
  • Motown Philly
  • It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday
  • End Of The Road
  • In The Still Of The Night
  • I'll Make Love To You
  • On Bended Knee
  • Water Runs Dry
I must have listened to those songs many, many times and to the point I know the lyrics to them. I still have the CD of their greatest hits. Now I just need to somehow get a CD player so I can listen to them again.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I am always on the lookout for more nostalgic autographs from Pop Century, I know there are others to pick up. I have updated my Top Wants list with them. Helen Hunt is at the top of wants on there.

Before I close for fun here are my coffee versions of the songs I listed above by Boyz II Men Make Coffee,
  • Brewtown Philly
  • It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday's Cup
  • End Of The Cup
  • In The Still Of The Night I Am Making Coffee
  • I'll Make Coffee ForYou
  • On Bended Knee With A Cup
  • Coffee Runs Out
Have a great day and don't let that cup run dry!

Coffee With Elisabeth Shue

Coffee smells amazing and I am ready to go.

Time for some Cards Over Coffee.

But first, let me tell you that this is Post #650. Doesn't seem like much in comparison to my other blog, but it's still significant. Thank you all for continuing to read and drink coffee with me.

*takes a sip*

With my drafts starting to empty, I literally just have the last two autographs to post in my trade with @levy2628, I figured I might as well finish those up and have a clean drafts folder.

So, here is the second to last autograph in my trade with @levy2628.

*takes another sip, doesn't want coffee to get cold*

Elisabeth Shue was an autograph I wanted for not only myself, but for my wife as well.

Elisabeth was in Adventures in Babysitting (can't recall how many times I watched that growing up), Back To The Future Part 2, and of course CSI.  All of which my wife and I watched together and also growing up.

Have you seen anything with her in it? Let me know in comments!

It comes down to one more autograph to post. Who will it be? You will find out tomorrow!

Coffee With Jon Lovitz

*coffee is brewed and I am sipping away.*

*takes another sip*

I could make a list a mile long from this year's Leaf Pop Century of people I want an autograph of. It's probably the most in-depth autograph checklist I have seen from the product.

So far, I have been able to add a couple autographs I want from it, but I have a long way to go. You will see this at the end of today's post.

But let's take a look at who I added for now.

*takes a sip*
Jon Lovitz started out on SNL, but that's not where I know him from.  I first saw him in the film Rat Race (hilarious by the way) and then in other movies such as, Dickie Roberts, The Benchwarmers, Grown Ups 2, Benchwarmers 2, and in my favorite all-time sports movie, A League Of Their Own among other small roles.

This card is numbered to 9. I kind of wished Leaf would show a picture of the actors signing the cards on the back. That would take these to the next level.

Coffee With: Jane Fonda

*sits down, asiago bagel with light butter on one side, coffee on the other, laptop and card in front*

*takes a sip*

*takes a bite, a second bite, a third bite*

*takes another sip*

*another sip for good measure and time for Cards Over Coffee*

There is such a big list of autographs in this year's 2023 Pop Century I have been wanting to add to my collection, but those darn finances get in the way. Stupid bills and stuff, why do we have to pay them anyways?

So, for now, I will trade for and add what I can when I can. It's all we can do right?

Today's autograph add is from a legendary actress who has starred in tons of films including one "chick flick" that I really enjoyed.

Don't let that change your opinion on this blogger, I know you watch "chick flicks" to. Admit it.

*takes another sip and bite*
Jane Fonda starred in Book Club. A romantic comedy that also featured Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen as four friends who read Fifty Shades of Grey as part of their monthly book club and compare their lives to the book in which leads them on some quirky and comical adventures.

Some of the circumstances that occur are quite hysterical which is why I enjoyed the movie.

With most of my autograph pickups being nostalgic from my childhood, this one is more of a memory of watching both movies, yes there was a sequel as well, with my wife who enjoyed them as well.

I guess you can say as I get older, this card will to become a nostalgic piece. But, for now, let me stay as young as I can and let this card just be in the moment.

Let me know in comments if you have seen the Book Club movie or your favorite Jane Fonda film.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

There is much more to go with Pop Century autograph needs. I really need to transfer my list in last months post to my overall Want List that you can check out HERE.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

I Changed My Mind

*sits down with a coffee and bagel lunch, cards to. ready for a new post on cards over coffee*

Just like my wife with dinner decisions, I have changed my mind.

Originally, I was going to post the second part of my trade with @DanPortnov (FIRST POST IS HERE) with my Coffee With segment to showcase the non-sport autograph pickups in my trade but decided just to post them all in one post. Sometimes the segments on here don't do well and I wanted you guys to see what I picked up in this deal.

*takes a sip*

In the trade I was able to acquire four Pop Century autographs to add to my collection with only two of them helping my want lists. But, that's okay, I will take on any non-sport autographs, they always have a home here.
The first autograph was of Linday Morgan, who wasn't one of the ones on my list, but I hear she is a rising star in Hollywood after starring on the CW show The 100. I have never seen it, but have heard of it.

Next up is a 1/1 autograph of Joan Collins.  If you were around in the 80s or spent time with your grandmother in the 80's, you probably knew who she was. She starred on the soap Dynasty. And if you don't know her from that, you must have seen her in her other hundreds of film and TV appearances.

One of the names on my want list for this year's Pop Century was Brittany Snow who starred in the Pitch Perfect movies, Harry's Law and John Tucker Must Die. All three things I rather enjoyed.

And finally the autograph I wanted the most of the group was,
John Lithgow who has won numerous awards, made lots of movies and TV appearances and best known for his role as Dick Solomon on 3rd Rock From The Sun. I haven't quite decided if I like the cut signatures in Pop Century this year. There are quite a few.

And that's it. Thanks again to Dan for the trade and hope we can do another!

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post. takes a bite of colder bagel and realizes needs to finish this up before it gets colder*

I still have quite the list of autographs I want from this year's product as you will below,
  • Amanda Bynes
  • Catherine Bach
  • Chevy Chase
  • Clint Eastwood
  • Carmen Electra
  • Chuck Norris
  • Chris Pratt
  • Charlie Sheen
  • Denise Richards
  • Edward Furlong
  • Ewan McGregor
  • Elizabeth Olsen
  • Frankie Muniz
  • Jessica Alba
  • Jason Alexander
  • Jim Belushi
  • Jon Cryer
  • Jon Heder
  • John O’Hurley
  • Joe Pesci
  • Kristen Bell
  • Katey Sagal
  • Lou Ferrigno
  • Leslie Jordan
  • Macaulay Culkin
  • Melissa Joan Hart
  • Marisa Tomei
  • Pete Davidson
  • Salma Hayek
  • Tara Reid
  • Chuck Norris
Cut Signatures
  • Alyssa Milano
  • Bill Clinton
  • Calista Flockhart
  • Demi Lovato
  • Evangeline Lilly
  • Eva Longoria
  • George H.W. Bush
  • John Cena
  • Jamie Foxx
  • Ken Jennings
  • Kathie Lee Gifford
  • Leah Remini
  • Natalie Portman
  • Suzanne Somers
  • Tom Hanks
  • Tiffani Thiessen
  • The Weeknd
  • Vincent Price
So, if any of you reading this have any of these needs, let me know on here or Twitter or email at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com. I am sure we can work out a trade!

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. I know mine has been a busy one like the rest of this week has been.

Cards Hotter Than Coffee

*cards in hand, coffee is ready and so am I for a new Cards Over Coffee*

*takes a sip*

2023 has started off hot in terms of additions to my collection and knocking off some cards I have been wanting for quite some time.

There have been some great 90's inserts and NY Giants cards I have knocked off the want list, but a lot of my bigger cards I have crossed off have come in form of non-sports.

Such as Zendaya's rookie card. I haven't ever watched the newer Spiderman movies, I am still stuck in Tobey Maguire days, but maybe I will finally watch them some day. Spiderman is my second favorite superhero.

Everybody Loves Raymond or should. There were two versions of this card to get, Jets or Giants, I think I made the better choice here. I was a big fan of his show growing up.

NO RESPECT! I feel ya somedays in the blogosphere Rodney. Easily one of my Top 5 favorite comedians.

Burt Reynolds autograph. This has been on the list for awhile now and it felt great to knock it off.

The Fonz! He also takes his time on his signature and it's great.

Let it go. Let it goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! If that doesn't get stuck in your head the rest of the day I did it wrong. I am not sure why I felt I needed this, but I did and it's a 1/1.

The first Caddyshack movie had such a great cast with Murray, Chase and Dangerfield that the second movie couldn't keep up. Oh, and these two were a big part of the cast as well.

I have John's autograph, why not add Joan too.

And yes, you are seeing that right, I added not one but two more Chevy Chase autographs to my PC of him. Now I have three and multiple relics and am beyond stoked about it.

And finally, a new relic for my Wizard Of Oz collection. I have the Scarecrow swatch and now a single hair strand from the Cowardly Lion. My hope next is to land the Yellow Brick Road relic card

Not pictured is a 1/1 Barbara Eden Leaf Pop Century autograph.

Like I said, I added some amazing non-sport stuff recently and I think you guys can see that.

I even just drooled out some coffee just seeing them again. Not on the keyboard or cards though, they are safe so no worries.

Thoughts on my additions, your favorite card from the group are welcomed in comments.

Time for another cup of coffee and to get on with my busy day.

Happy Weekend!

Biggest Trade Of The Half Year

*sits down excitedly to show off the biggest trade of the half year so far. takes a sip, looks over the cards again and gets ready for the latest Cards Over Coffee post*

Before I begin with today's posts, I wanted to point out some new things I added to this blog. Not only did I update my Top Wants list and added a few more as well, I left a Top 20 Most Wanted list, What I Collect and a Top 10 Most Wanted Autograph Card list if you guys feel like checking them out. Maybe you have something on there we can work out a trade for.

Now onto today's post.

When it comes to making a trade between two people who do not know each other, especially a BIG trade, it will require a big risk and a trust factor. Otherwise, why bother.

This is how my trade with @Pradough1 started out. We both wanted what the other had for cards, but hesitated for awhile on pulling the trigger on the trade.

Then we both finally gave in hoping it would work out for the both of us.

As you can now see with today's post, it did.

*takes a sip before showing off the cards*

I am continuously looking to add to my non-sports PC, which is my most sought after PC right now, and will pretty much take anything that looks cool to me. I mainly look for pieces that connect to my past, but overall, I will take any.

In my trade with @Pradough1 I did both.
First, I will show off the freebie he tossed in. Heidi Montag who is mainly known for being the main cast member on the reality TV series, The Hills has also been featured on a few other shows/movies/music as well.

Elijah Wood is mainly known for his role on the LOTR trilogy, something I still need to watch, but he also starred in many other movies, some I have seen such as Flipper, Deep Impact, and The Faculty among others.

Jenny McCarthy has been on my want list for a little while now so it was good to knock her off the list. I have seen her in films such as BASEketball, Scream 3, Scary Movie 3, John Tucker Must Die, and her guest spots on multiple TV shows such as Two and a Half Men.

The next autograph is of Megan Fox. I have yet to watch the Transformer movies, I will someday, so I mainly know her from the TMNT movies where she played April O'Neil.

And the final autograph is a new side PC project I am tackling...
The Dolphins may make him cry but I was happy to see this Darius Rucker autograph in the mail. If you don't know, he is the lead singer of Hootie And The Blowfish.

Also, if you are wondering about this new side project, I am collecting Darius Rucker cards. This marks my second Rucker autograph card and I only have one more to go.

This trade isn't even over yet....there is still one more card to show off which will wait until tomorrow.

Thanks again to @Pradough1 for taking a chance and pulling off this amazing trade. I hope to do future deals with you and hope others who see this trade will trade with you as well.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Trades like this are always fun if it works well for both parties and if it actually works. It's nice to knock down some of these autograph wants.

If you have any non-sport cards or Darius Rucker cards for trade, let me know. I am always looking for non sport relics, autographs, base cards of celebrities, cards from Goodwin, Americana, and Allen Ginter.

Hope everyone has a Fantastic Friday.

In comments today, let me know your favorite card above or tell me your favorite Hootie song, movie or TV show of one of the actors above as well.

Following In The Footsteps

*turns on Pandora Elton John station, starts jamming to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road*

*gets cards ready, coffee prepped and laptop ready. it's time for a new Cards Over Coffee post!*

When you compare my father and myself, there are a lot of similar interests as I followed in his footsteps with a lot of the things I like.

We both are NY fans. NY Yankees, NY Knicks, NY  Rangers and NY Giants fans in an area dominated by Boston/New England teams. I think others always scratch their heads when they find out we were not even from New York and follow those teams here.

We both also collect sport cards, though most of his collecting now is more flipping than collecting. The new age of the hobby has done that to him but he still does collect some cards.

We even listen to the same kind of music. It was Eagles, Chicago, the local radio station and of course, Elton John.

I remember going to card shows and having him put on Elton's Too Low For Zero cassette tape and we would listen to it to the card show and back. When there was a new Elton song on the radio, we would turn that up. Music was just as important as sports to us.

As I sit here listening to Elton during today's post, it brings me back.

*takes a sip, switches the song to I'm Still Standing*

My obsession with non-sport cards and my love of music have really been crossing over this year as I have picked up many singer's autographs or cards just to have that nostalgia.

When I added this Elton John card, Elton's checklist of cardboard was short and just base cards.

Then came 2021 Leaf Pop Century which included a line of relic cards from the legendary singer.

I am fortunate to have great friends like Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame who grabbed two of them for me for my collection. Each swatch had a different colored relic.
This relic is numbered to 80 and features a darker colored relic.

This one here is a white relic numbered to 12.

Back of the card.

I haven't seen any other colored relic releases yet, but would definitely be interested in others if I do.

These are the only cards in my Elton John PC so far. There are others out there I need to add at some point and on the top of that list is still an autograph need. I don't believe he has any certified autograph cards out there...yet. At this point I would love to add an authentic autograph CD cover or anything. I heard he did TTM awhile back so I attempted that once to get sent back a replica autographed picture so I must have missed the cutoff for when he was signing. Bummer.

Thanks again to Shane for snagging the relic cards above and trading them to me!! Appreciate you as always buddy, despite you not liking coffee and liking the Boston sport teams.

*takes another sip before finishing up today's post, switches song to Tiny Dancer*

Even though I have a lot in common with my father, there are still a lot of things we don't. He could do "manly" things that I can't such as doing oil changes for a car, fixing a muffler with a coat hanger, building stuff and other things like that. I also don't agree with some of his life choices but that along has made me a better man to learn from his mistakes.

But, for what we do have in common, I am glad I followed in those footsteps.

Have a great Monday.

Comment below your favorite Elton John song.

Going Back To The Sandlot

*sits down, tries not to look out the window at the foot of new snow that just fell. takes a sip of freshly brewed coffee and thinks of spring and baseball*

I am not one for sports movies. It's usually the same storyline, some team or player down on their luck, goes through a lot of stuff then makes a heroic comeback. For me, it's a tiring cycle that almost similar to watching a movie remake.

So, when someone asks me what some of my favorite sports movies are, my list is very, very short. It's so short that it's only five movies.
  1. Little Giants. This is my favorite sports movie. Rick Moranis, Ed O'Neill, Giants beating Cowboys and some kid farting. It is great.
  2. Caddyshack. Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield..yes!!! The second movie was lacking.
  3. Invincible. Yes, it's based on a true story. But, how many of us get a shot at the NFL without going through college or having any experience other than bartending?
  4. Happy Gilmore. I have never been a huge fan of Sandler, but when I watched this the first time, I cried to tears full of laughter. Other than Grownups and Grownups 2, this is my favorite Sandler film.
  5. The Sandlot. A Beast, kids playing baseball with friends like I used to, a relatable film to my youth and nostalgia.
I don't own a lot of cards relating to any of these movies other than some Chevy Chase cards, but I did recently add a Patrick Renna auto I showed off from The Sandlot and now I have another thanks to Wes.

*takes a sip before moving onto the card*

In 2018, Leaf Pop Century came out with a quad signature featuring actors from The Sandlot.
It's missing the lead character in Scotty Smalls, but has some of the other characters in Squints, Yeah-Yeah, Tommy Repeat Timmons and Timmy Timmons.

This autograph is numbered to 20.

What a cool piece to my collection thanks to Wes. Now I hope to land a Scotty Smalls, Benny Rodriguez and Wendy Peffercorn to complete my set.

Thanks again to Wes for this cool card.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I should look into adding other cards from these movies into my collection. I have been needing a Vince Papale rookie, have been staring at a Ed O'Neill auto, and some movie theater lobby cards from Caddyshack. Someday maybe I will accomplish some of these.

In the meantime, I will enjoy what I have already got.

In comments today, tell me your favorite sports movies. Also, thoughts on my latest addition are welcomed too.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

I Could Not Ask For More

*takes a sip of very hot coffee, it tends to get hotter the more you use the maker in the morning, sits down and gets ready for a new Cards Over Coffee post. I could not ask for more*

Today, I'll Be posting the last card I added from the Pro Set Super Stars line. There are a couple more I think would be fun to add, but way out of my price range. Not that I wouldn't mind making it a set chase.

Here is an overall look at the checklist,

6ix9ine
Debbie Gibson
Edwin McCain
Fetty Wap
Jesse McCartney
Lindsay Lohan
Mark McGrath
Nelly
Sean Kingston
Sisqo
Tone Loc
Traci Lords

Not too bad and I added the ones that meant most to me.

The card today features a singer from the late 90's whose two biggest hits you heard often on the radio, even until this day.
Edwin McCain's two hits of the 90's were songs I enjoyed and "sang" often. Believe me, you don't really want to hear me sing. Picture Freddy Kruger scratching a chalkboard while a cat meows, a dog barks and Gilbert Gottfried sings.

The two hits McCain had were I'll Be and I Could Not Ask For More. The songs were not only on the radio, but were featured in a couple of shows and movies as well.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

If you are curious which other autographs I wanted, the Lindsay Lohan and Debbie Gibson had my attention as well.

In comments today, tell me which autograph pickup from this set you would want, which one of my pickups you liked the best and who you would want to see featured in the next set.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday. Stay safe!

Every Morning

*sun, coffee, cards and a blog. can you ask for any more than that on Tuesday morning? nope, I doubt it*

Every morning there's a cup of coffee
and a laptop on the corner of my kitchen table
Yes they are mine and I will know I will use it
For this morning's post or a weekend one

Sorry for my terrible lyric rewrite. I tried...that's all that matters right? Maybe today's autograph subject can give me some tips since it was his song I was attempting.

*takes a sip, before moving onto today's post*

In the late 90's, there was a group named Sugar Ray that came out with some catchy tunes such as Fly, Every Morning and Some Day. These were songs you would hear consistently on the radio and had no problem with hearing them as often as you did. At least in my case. I remember sitting in my room with the small radio listening and waiting for the songs to come on so I could time it right and record it on a cassette tape. Those times were rough and made it even more frustrating when the DJ would start talking at the end of the song.

It took a while, but I finally managed to get those three songs recorded. It may had been easier to had bought the CD at that point. Which I did later on.

When I saw that Mark McGrath, the lead singer, had an autograph in the Leaf Pop Century, I wanted to add it to my nostalgic 90's collection which brought back today's memory. So fortunately, I was lucky enough to land a copy.

*takes a sip before showing off today's card*

As you can tell with all of my music adds, they have been done in the Pro Set Super Stars design. I really like the look of the design as its throwback as well.

Back of the card. All of the base autographs are numbered to 60.

I was pretty stoked about adding this one to my collection.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

My wife and I actually saw Sugar Ray in concert in 2003 who was there alongside Michelle Branch. My wife also a fan of their music and may have been like most girls and had a small crush on Mark. One thing I will say about their concert is that they put on a great one. If you haven't seen them yet, go check them out as they are still touring.

I must also note before finishing up today's post, Mark is also a great person with his fans. On Twitter, he actually responds to you which is where I found out he is also a fellow NY Giants fan. I hope he sees today's post and maybe even gives me a RT for other fans to see.

In comments below today, tell me your favorite Sugar Ray song.

Hot In Herre

*takes a sip wishing the title of today's post was actually true, that it was actually hot in herre. but for now, the coffee will keep me warm while I do the latest Cards Over Coffee post*

Picture it, Sicily, 1929, me and my soon-to-be wife...no this isn't Golden Girls nor is today's post, it's more like Picture it, it's 2002 and two young lovebirds are heading out for a weekend at the beach. It was the first long trip for us as a couple and my first time ever going to the beach. Yes, we didn't go anywhere when I was a kid.

We had the car packed full, windows rolled down and no trip is complete without music. At that time in my life, I was 19, I was really into rap music. Rappers like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Ludacris were among those that made my daily play list.

My soon-to-be wife at the time wasn't really too much of a rap fan, but there was one she would listen to with me and one song she liked the most. The rapper was Nelly, the album was Country Grammar and the song was, Ride Wit Me. How fitting for the long trip.

*takes a sip, begins to hunt for some breakfast but couldn't find anything enticing yet. sits back down, takes another sip and begins to think about what may sound good*

We listened to that song for many years when we took that yearly trip to the beach and until rap was no longer appreciated in my life.

But, what was appreciated still were the memories it brought and when I saw that Leaf Pop Century had a Nelly autograph in their product for 2021, no doubt that had to be in my collection.
If you couldn't tell by now, I really like the Pro Set Super Stars autograph set. Nelly's autograph isn't terrible, it just doesn't fit the sticker very well and appears to be cut off some.

Back of the card.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

Country Grammar isn't the only Nelly CD that I still own. Yes, I still own them. There is also Nellyville, Nelly Suit and Nelly Sweat. As for listening to them, I don't anymore. However, if Ride With Me pops up on the radio, I may turn it up some still.

How about a little coffee rap with me before I end this post?

If you wanna go and have a cup wit me
We be drinkin' two cups maybe three
Oh what are we gonna to drink?
(Hey, must be coffee)

Hope you enjoyed that and have a great Sunday.

Let me know your favorite Nelly song in comments!

Let Me See That Thong

*ooooh that coffee is scandalous, and you know I can handle it. drinking that cup like a fish with my eyes look so devilish*

*sits down with cup of coffee, card and laptop. Cards Over Coffee time and I hope you are ready for some with me!*

It was 2000, I was a junior in high school and I loved listening to music in my free time. At that time in my life, I didn't have a lot of CD's or even cassette tapes. Just a couple of each. So, most of my music I listened to came from the radio and the local radio station.

One of the hottest songs on the radio was one of the most annoying ones I had ever heard, Thong Song by Sisqo.

It seemed like everyone was singing it. My friends, classmates in the hallways, blasting in the football locker room, and some of the teachers even humming it. Okay, I made that last part up, but I was trying to make a point. I can't imagine any of the teachers I had in high school humming that song nor would I have wanted them to.

*takes a sip, hums thong song after sip*

After many years of Thong Song therapy, which was simply avoiding the song, I heard it recently when I was watching music videos on MTV Classic Video channel, and I found myself not turning it off. What has happened??? Instead of turning it off, it drove some nostalgia my way instead. How odd? A song I couldn't stand for years was now a song that brought me some joy?? Not sure how that works but it did and because of that, it led me to one of my most recent pickups.

A Sisqo autograph from 2021 Leaf Pop Century.

The card is a purple parallel /20 and features a classic Pro Set design.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I will admit I have listened to the song a few times since I saw the music video just to bring back some memories from that. Just to clear the air before a rumor starts, no I didn't wear a thong and dance like Tom Cruise in Risky Business to the song. Instead, I just drank coffee to it.

How about you guys...have you ever despised song and then find yourself listening to it many years later and it not bothering you anymore? Let me know in comments!

Hope everyone has a great Thursday.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

*sits down with laptop and today's card by the side. It's time for some cards over coffee*

"Will you hurry up Matt, I'm freezing my baguettes off" were my thoughts when I stepped outside momentarily this morning referencing Art from Christmas Vacation. The temperature currently sits at zero, but the wind chill factor brings it well below that. Today is more of a hot cup of cocoa with cards day. So today will feature Cards Over Cocoa. Don't worry, no name blog name incoming.

Another thing that comes to mind on a frigid day like today is a nice cup of hot soup. I am not a huge soup person, but the mood does strike occasionally, and I will have a bowl. I prefer Chicken Noodle, Cream Of Mushroom or Tomato when that mood comes.

*takes a sip of hot cocoa, doesn't quite hit like coffee, but warms you up*

Will I have some soup today? Probably not. I just inspected my cupboards, and I don't have any on hand, so I guess NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

Have you heard that phrase before? I would be surprised if you said no especially if you were around in the 90's and watched Seinfeld. Heck, even today you hear and see that phrase through Memes, GIFs, etc whether you watched Seinfeld or not.
The episode features Larry Thomas as the "Soup Nazi" who runs a soup shop and is very temperamental, especially about the ordering procedure of his soups. Which is where he gets his nickname from.  If you didn't order the soup correctly, there would be NO SOUP FOR YOU! Which many of the Seinfeld characters found themselves apart of for different reasons.

I recently landed this autograph pretty cheap for my Seinfeld PC. This is one of the very few Seinfeld characters with an authentic autograph card. I am still surprised to this day that Jerry Seinfeld hasn't signed for anyone or that any company hasn't created a Seinfeld set. It feels like a loss to the hobby.

*begins to think about making some homemade soup, then realizes no ingredients are here and it's still too bitter to go outside. Still NO SOUP FOR YOU!*

Larry is best known for his role on Seinfeld, but he has also been in other movies and other television shows as well. The list is pretty lengthy, and I didn't realize it until I looked him up.

I hope to add more autographs from the show later on as I have my eye on a couple. At one point, I was close to a Jason Alexander but forgot to bid.

In comments today, let's hear your thoughts on my autograph, if you saw the Soup Nazi episode and what your favorite soup flavor is.

I Wanna Be Like....Chad

*takes a sip, coffee is very hot this morning. I guess it will pair well with today's card then. takes a seat with laptop raring to go, coffee and card off to the left. time for some Cards Over Coffee*

Growing up we all had a role model we wanted to be. When I was growing up, you always saw Michael Jordan plastered everywhere you went including cereal boxes, posters, shoes, magazines, commercials, movies, etc. The song/phrase "I Wanna Be Like Mike" was a thing as everyone wanted to be the GOAT of the NBA. I must also note, there was plenty of Ken Griffey Jr plastered around as well who I had taken to and not Jordan.

As an adult, I think we have people to look up to as well. "Adult Role Models" are a different kind from the ones we grow up seeing. They are the ones who you look at and say, "What an incredible person to do what they did for another."

Now, these people don't have their own Gatorade line or are seen on commercials as they do what they do quietly. But, I think it's important that we occasionally give those who give back some recognition.

*takes a sip*

Recently, a card was posted for sale on Twitter that interested both @ChadBec82312937 and myself. I wasn't going to be able to afford the card and was trying to trade for it. Since Chad was tagged first, I gave him first dibs on the card and what happened afterwards left me speechless.

*takes a sip before moving on with today's post*

Chad ended up claiming the card, but, he chose to send it to me after doing so. It was a really kind gesture that caught me by surprise since we hadn't really ever had any interactions before.

Then a problem arose, the person who had listed it on Twitter, had sold it on eBay before Chad made his claim. As disappointing as that was, I was okay with that.... but Chad was not. He not only let the seller know how he felt, but then messaged me and promised he wasn't going to leave me empty handed. I told him I wasn't worried, but he still insisted and bought me not only the card, but an upgraded version to the one from Twitter.

*takes a sip before showing off the card*
The card on Twitter being sold was a Leaf Pop Century autograph of John Cusack, but a base version that was being sold.

Chad really upgraded that version with this green /7!

I wanted the Cusack for my non sport collection as I enjoy some of his films including, 2012 (funny-was the year I started to blog), Sixteen Candles, Serendipity and Identity to name a few.

It just amazes me that someone who you have had barely any interactions with would just go and do that for you. It just boggles my mind and makes me really wish I could do the same for someone else. I guess you can say "I wanna be like Chad."

Which by the way, thanks again @ChadBec82312937. I love the card.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I wanted to take a minute out and say that @ChadBec82312937 isn't the only one out there who gives back. I see it almost every day, people claiming cards for others or getting together and buying someone a card and it just amazes me. With my funding, I don't get the oppurtunity to do fun things like that however I do send people cards without asking for anything in return. It's not quite the same, but for now is my best effort.

*finishes up cup of coffee, starts to look for some breakfast and to brew the next cup*

Coffee With Alan Thicke

*takes a sip, sits down to reminisce about today's Coffee "guest" then gets ready to type about it*

Today's guest is Alan Thicke who sadly passed away in 2016.

If you grew up in the late 80's and early 90's, most likely you grew up with the Seaver family.

Growing Pains focused on Jason (Thicke) and Mary Seaver and their raising of their kids and the challenges that parents can face such as drugs, suicide, peer pressure, and alcohol to name a few. But, in the end, if they were together they could face any problems that arose together.

*takes a sip, remembers the theme song to Growing Pains and starts to hum it*

As a lot of my long time readers know, I have been collecting autographs that relate to anything to my childhood and since I was a big fan of Growing Pains I have already added Jeremy Miller who played Ben Seaver and figured it was time to add another. That's when I found out that Thicke had autograph in a Leaf Pop Century product. I expected it to be outrageously expensive being a famous actor who had passed but I found a pretty decent deal under $20 for one and snagged it.

Alan had a solid signature.

Back of the card is pretty bland. I really wished Leaf would include a picture from their career or anything better than this.

Not only was Alan in Growing Pains, but he also starred in a variety of movies and guest appearances on TV shows. I think the last thing I watched him in was This Is Us. He is father to singer Robin Thicke who is best known for his song Blurred Lines.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

As I was composing today's post, I was thinking as I went along, can you imagine what it would have been like to tackle some of today's issues on the show? I won't dive into the topics as I don't want to start politics in a place only about cards and coffee but I would imagine some of those topics would be pretty hard to handle. Parenting in this day and age cannot be easy or even being a kid for that matter. I am just glad I grew up when I did and that's all I need to say.
