Monday Morning Cup: Firepits

*sits down, half asleep, takes a sip and gets ready for a new cards over coffee post*

It's Monday morning. Bleh. I am hopeful with this new series that it won't be so much of a drag anymore.

This series originally was intended to talk about football and the NY Giants game played the day before, but, this time I figured it will be a way for me to talk and ramble on about everything. Maybe show off some cool photos I have taken recently or who knows what I will come up with.

The idea for this series came from sitting down in front of a firepit.

The firepit has been the place I have done a lot of thinking this summer,

And maybe a few S'mores while I was at it.

I spent a lot of time in front of this firepit because unlike many of you reading or many of the people I follow and friend on Facebook, I didn't take a vacation. I couldn't afford to. This will mark the sixth straight year of not doing so and this year was actually the first one I did absolutely nothing all summer for extra fun. I am hoping this streak will come to an end soon, but who knows when. Things will be very tight for a while.

However, I did have this firepit and it made plenty of memories over the summer with family. That to me is better than any vacation anyways. Family always comes first.

The firepit also served as my thinking spot as I said above. I even had a special chair just like Steve or Joe from Blue Clues.

I thought about life, the hobby and even blogging. It gave me an opportunity to think things over more and try to figure out what I was going to do with all three aspects. Though I never actually came up with any definite answers on any, I at least found myself thinking things through more instead of reacting and regretting later on. I guess you can call this growth for me. It's something you probably get as you approach 40 years of age.

Even though fall has reared its head some, I still hope to have a few more firepit sessions before packing it away for the winter. I know I could use some more thinking time, especially when it comes to blogging. I am in another thought process with it and my future with it.

I actually hope that all of you have your own "firepit" or metaphor for one where you can think things through before reacting and regretting. Reacting without a full thinking process on any subject can be a very dangerous thing, it's better to find your "thinking chair" and pull together a thoughtout process first. Use a notepad if you want to. Write down some pros and cons of what your trying to react to. It will help you make the right decision without causing damage, I promise.

I hope everyone reading this today has a magnificent Monday.

Your thoughts on today's post and future Monday Morning Cup posts and what you would like to see with them welcomed in comments.

Also, if you actually do have a firepit, have a S'more while you are at it. Nothing gets the thinking process going more than some sugar.  (despite what your doctor says)

Well, besides coffee which ranks slightly ahead.

  1. I don't have a fire pit... but a friend just hooked me up with brownies with gram crackers and marshmallows baked into the top... which were absolutely delicious.

  2. Nothing like a good campfire. I like when trading card bloggers occasionally write about something other than cards, so I'm looking forward to more of these posts. Now I might have to go make a s'more...
