Small, But Efficient

*sits down for a big cup of coffee. needing this today, been a long sleepless week*

*takes a sip*

Not all mail days have to be these huge monstrosities to be efficient in my collection, they can also be small ones.

As the Christmas mail days rolled in, there were a lot different sized mail days with a lot of familiar sender's names. One of those names being @CardpocalypseNC whose mail day I am showing off today.

Tim and I have been long time buddies since his days of blogging, and even though he no longer blogs, we have stayed connected because of Twitter and do on and off trades.

My latest trade with Tim not only brought me in a few cards, but it also brought in a few cards I needed for a Christmas gift.

Let's check out my part of this mail day. I am not showing off the Christmas gifts obviously:) Especially since I still haven't mailed them off yet.

Charles Way Legacy /100 that I needed for my PC of him. I never get sick of adding 90's inserts to my collection anyways and will continue to do so.

Up next, an Amani Toomer that is very hard to find and maybe most Toomer collectors don't have with it being numbered to 24.

And finally, a Rainbow parallel from 1996 Ultra Sensations. Honestly, I was hoping the parallel was super shiny and spectacular since I had never seen one in person, but it compares to the other parallels in the product where the border just has a few changes. It's Meh. Yes, I am making reference to the character in the Emoji movie.

These are a bit rare though, there are only 1% of the total run printed of this parallel. It's probably why I can't find the Rodney Hampton version anywhere.

Thanks again to Tim for this mail day and for the Christmas gift help.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

My Rankings On TCDB

Good Morning! Well, if it's morning where you are reading this. I have my coffee in hand, ready to figure out what breakfast may be, and preparing for a new Cards Over Coffee Post.

*takes a sip*

I haven't been on here much recently because life has kept me busy and I really didn't have much to post about. It's hard when you don't really have a lot of cards incoming and you have been tearing apart your collection sorting to come up with anything creative and worthy of posting that hasn't already been shown off.

So on top of lots of sorting and re-organizing, I have been adding some player collections on TCDB (Trading Card Data Base). Not only does it make it easier for me to figure out my needs, but my favorite part is seeing my rankings among those who also have collections of the same players.

For the most part, I did pretty well.

I took the top spot for Victor Cruz.

Barely snuck up on the top spot for Darius Rucker.

Blowing away the field for Charles Way.

I have just a few Andre Williams, I also never added the duplicate relics/autographs I had. So this is straight up individual cards.

Have over a 100 card lead here with Rueben Randle. Another guy like Andre Williams I was heavily invested in.

Took the top spot for Chevy Chase.

And now onto some that I need to do some work on.

I still have a ways to go with Eli, but my first goal is to reach 1,000. I have added some recently that I didn't put on TCDB yet, but not even close to that goal yet.

I couldn't believe my lack of David Wilsons in comparison to the first-place person.

My lack of Amani Toomers is appalling to me and disgraceful to him. How could one of my Top 10 favorite NY Giants not have more. I really need to get on this and move up the board.

I believe I was within two cards of first place until recently. It appears I have some serious competition here to move up more.

Tied with John Starks, Allan Houston is my favorite NY Knick of all-time and yet I sit in 10th place here. Even fellow blogger Billy has a significant lead on me. I need to work on this collection, maybe Billy has some duplicates.

I still have a few players I really need to add on there, and maybe even Kerry Collins and Rodney Hampton who are only done through spreadsheets.

Thoughts on my rankings, what some of your rankings are and how many collections you have uploaded on TCDB welcomed in comments.

Now it's time to find some breakfast with the rest of this cup of coffee.

Cards That Only I Care About

*does morning blog reading in open windows, yes, I read other sport card blogs and will occasionally comment when there is time. remembers an article on Night Owl Cards that is an idea for today's post. clicks link, reads article again, takes a sip and gets stack of cards ready for the latest #CardsOverCoffee post*

The legendary Night Owl Cards put up a post on June 13th that I thought would make for a great Blog-Bat-Around. He posted some cards that only mattered to him and that's the way it should be as a card blogger. Sometimes I feel like I play reading the field and want people to read my posts and not ignore them because I posted something that may not interest them.

Well, today. I took on my inner Night Owl cards and I am posting cards that only I care about or seem to. So, if you don't want to see or read about them, there will be other posts for you another day.

*takes a sip*

The good thing about what I collect is that a lot of people are not chasing it. Even though there are a lot of NY Giants collectors out there, many are only after the star players and rare cards. Not myself, I take the low road because it's fun and sometimes nostalgic.

I am also the only one that card blogs about the Giants that I have found.

For example, my latest Kerry Collins additions. There are other collectors out there, some on TCDB, that have Collins cards in their collections because of Penn State, but I haven't yet met another actual Collins collector such as myself.

I am okay with being the only one liking cards like these,

(Flair Legacy)

And then there is Charles Way. The average collector/person may ask "who is this guy?" and I will just respond, he was a fullback for the NY Giants in the 90's.

With today's NFL and lack of Fullbacks, they may also ask what a fullback is.

Of course, I will sometimes mention that he was primarily used as a fullback to block for my Super Collection player Rodney Hampton.

I don't keep track of Kerry Collins collection on TCDB, but I do keep track of my Charles Way where I am way out front as the top collector.

*takes a sip and gets ready to finish up today's post*

It's okay that you may not care about the cards I posted today, I am sure some of you collect stuff that I don't care about either. Which is okay to. That is the fun thing about collecting, we collect what makes us happy and not others. Though some cards may make others jealous whether it fits their collection or not.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday.

Thoughts on my cards and if you will continue this blog bat around welcomed in comments.

I Love You Fleer Metal Universe

*takes a sip, a bite of bagel and gets ready for the new #CardsOverCoffee*

I love Fleer Metal Universe.

*lights a candle or two. turns on some BoysIIMen as that's top in romance when it comes to music*

Speaking of BoysIIMen..to the tune of I'll Make Love To You.....
Close your eyes, grab the Fleer Metal
And turn on the candlelight
For tonight is just your night
We're gonna sort cards, all thru the night

Grab a box, grab the binder
Girl your wish is my command
I submit to your sort demands
I will sort anything, girl you need only ask

I'll sort cards with you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold them tight
and I won't drop them like last night
I'll sort cards with you
When you want me to
And I will not stop
'Till you tell me to

Hope that gets stuck in your head today. Maybe sing it to your significant other. Who knows, maybe you will get lucky and sort cards.

*takes a sip before showing off today's cards*

I have been doing a lot of sorting the last few weeks and came across my Fleer Metal Universe stash. I have a little bit for each sport and plan on one massive sort build for each. Right now, the one I am closest on is the 1998 Metal Universe football. I will hopefully have needs posted on that soon.

In the meantime, my focus is actually on attempting the 1997 Fleer Metal universe football set. It was the inaugural football set to kick off the etched foil textured-fun-bright-action photo background which is the main attraction. I also think it's the best looking set of the two released, 1997 and 1998. The 1996 baseball version was the original Metal Universe design and it was sharp as well.

So far, I have a very slow start with only a few cards out of the 200 but I LOVE what I have so far.
Galloway and Wheatley......"We're meant for each other."

Bruce and Collins...."You complete me."

Thomas and Way......."We're perfect for each other."

And Walter Jones....."You're my baby."

I do have another 20 something on the way from Burbank, but other than that, there are a lot of holes to fill in and I still need all of the star players.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I will be updating all of my set needs on here as I get that project done. There is a long ways to go with the project and then having to write all of the needs down and type them up. I may just write them down and then take a photo of each list. Update the photo as I go along. Of course my handwriting is awful like a doctor writing a prescription so I will need to take my time.

I hope all of you have a great Valentines Day. I don't have much planned, I did hand make my wife a gift that I think she will enjoy.

In comments today, let me know which BoysIIMen song you like, your thoughts on Fleer Metal Universe, or a set you LOVE.

Although we've Come
To The End Of The Sort
Still I can't let go
It's Fleer Metal
They belong to me
And to you
Although we've come
to the end of the sort
Still I can't stop now
It's still Fleer Metal
They belong to me
They belong to you

Milestones Part 1

*coffee is ready, cards are as well. lets do some cards over coffee!*

As a player collector, I think it's important to not only set milestones, but celebrate them as well.

I reached a milestone with two of my "Big 3" player collections recently and now is the time to celebrate it. Of course, the first thing I need to celebrate is finally uploading these photos. It took seven, SEVEN hours to upload 72 photos to this blog yesterday. THAT IS NO JOKE. When people wonder why blogging can be challenging, this is one of the reasons.

Enough with the problems I had yesterday, just like with anything else, today is a new day and a new start. Let's celebrate.

*takes as sip of coffee before showing off the cards*

Charles Way is the newest of the Big 3 players I collect. In less than a year, I have reached the pinnacle of collecting him. I am the Number one collector on TCDB for Way by a long shot, I have 43.4 % of all Way cards (109/251) and just reached the 100-card milestone thanks to my friends Wes and Shane.

Here are the ones that took me over the 100 milestone,
2000 Pacific Premiere Date /78

1998 Topps Gold Label Red Label

These are numbered to 50 and hard to find.

Same goes for this Gold parallel of Way from the 1998 Contenders Leather.

Not easy to find and is numbered to 76.

The next tough card to find was this 1998 Fleer Tradition Trophy Collection, there are only 20 of these out there.

And finally,
1999 Score 10th Anniversar Artist Proof parallel.

These are /10. As you can imagine, not easy to find at all.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

I have set my next milestone for my Way collection to reach the 150-card mark. There is a WAYS to go, but, looking at how fast I built this PC in the last few months, it may not take as long as I think to reach it. The tough part once again will be landing the rarer cards such as the two PMG's I have seen listed recently I just couldn't pull off. I may never see those head my WAY.

Thoughts on my milestone and how you collect your player collections welcomed in comments. Part 2 of Milestones will come your WAY tomorrow.
