Coffee Break:2022 Topps Holiday Baseball Mega Box

*when the coffee is hot and there are cards, there is Cards Over Coffee to be had*

Twas 16 days before Christmas and all through the house, not a pack of cards was left unopened not even 1988 Score baseball.

Sorry you can only rhyme for so long.

The Topps Holiday boxes were on the Walmart shelf with care, in hopes I would take an hour-long trip and soon be there. 

My pocket had just enough cash nestled to buy, hoping I won't arrive to an empty shelf and cry.

I in my winter hat and coat, went inside of the Walmart hoping not to mope. 

And there it sat right on the shelf, waiting for me like it was placed there by an Elf. I was excited to open with care, hoping that a Santa relic would be in there.

With 10 packs of 10 cards each, I spent $24.98 while doing a little girl screech.

I drove the hour back home with coffee and cards in my hand, counting down to see which 1 autograph, relic, or autograph relic I would pull that would be grand.

Immediately I was greeted by a Buehler, that was an ornament die cut shape of a tree, that I couldn't be more....I don't have a word that goes with Buehler...maybe for more fuehler?

I opened them pack by pack and enjoyed the 200 card design all about,

I pulled Wander and I gave a shout.

I was more than halfway through the break and what should appear...

A Candy Cane sleeve Acuna and a

Santa Belt Ohtani that I gave a cheer.

With some Metallic parallels (1:2 packs) I pulled for this post so quick.

I even pulled this Red Metallic, that matches the color of the suit of Saint Nick. (it also falls 1:92 packs and there is Gold Metallic 1/1 as well)

Then it came down to my hit. 

I shouted come on Julio, Trout and Wander and even Saint Nick.

As I quickly revealed my card, I saw it was at least a Yankee, a Luis Gil, one I could not disregard.

I picked up my cards and set this aside with a smirk, I was pretty happy with the results and knew I had some sorting work.

Coffee Break:2022 Topps Heritage Minors Baseball

*it's been awhile, but here is my coffee-well not awhile on that-but awhile on a hobby box break. let's see how this one goes today*

Today's product isn't a product for everyone, but it does aim at a specific audience. Mainly the prospectors but the ones who enjoy Heritage and its throwback designs may have something to say as well.

It's not a product that has fared too well for me in the past, so maybe today is the day.

Every hobby box of 2022 Heritage Minors baseball comes with 18 packs of 8 cards. Boxes come with 2 autographs and boxes are a little less than $50.

When you bust open the box of Minors, you are greeted with three-card box toppers. These are done in the 1973 Topps Baseball Pin-Up design.

BASE:

Speaking of the 1973 design, just like the MLB version,

the MILB version tackles that same design as well.

 

 

There are 200 cards in the base set, plus 20 extra Sp cards to make it a 220-card set. There are base cards and subsets that feature more than one player as well.

PARALLELS:

You can find the following parallels in Heritage Minors,

Blue /99, Green /75, Black /50, Flip Stock, Gold /18, and Red 1/1.

Gold /18 falls 1:215 packs.

INSERTS:

1973 Topps 1953 Reprint Set falls 1:5 packs and has 15 cards to collect.

1973 Topps Pack Cover Set falls 1: 5 packs and has 20 cards to collect.

1973 Topps Tarjetas has 15 cards that falls 1:5 packs.

AUTOGRAPHS:

Redemption autograph of Colson Montgomery. First time I have pulled a redemption in a long time.

Doesn't appear to be any big hits today, but, with prospects, I guess you never know until they play the game.

Anyone remember the Motel 6 commercials with Tom Bodett voicing them with their slogan, “We’ll leave the light on for you”?

I do.

When I recently set up my Christmas village for this Christmas season, I only turned on one light in the entire village.

 

Which one you may ask....well....if it wasn't already obvious which one...the coffee food truck.

In my village, this is always open. Never closes.

Unfinished Cup:1995 Summitt Ground Zero

*sits down, takes a sip and a trip back in time with today's cards. let's get ready for a new cards over coffee. takes another sip*

1995 was a big year in sports cards for me.

It was the year that I fully got into collecting, even though I was collecting some at the end of 1993 and 1994.

But, 1995 is the year that really stands out to me the most. I remember two products specifically that I opened and opened and opened and opened. One I will feature in the next Unfinished Cup.

Today, I am diving right into one of my favorite parallels of All-Time, Summit's Ground Zero.

Falling 1:7 packs, Ground Zeros sparkled like no other parallel at its time.

It was a parallel set that I have been slowly building since 1995 and have narrowed it down quite a bit for such a big set.

All that remains of this 200-card set is,

Not too bad.

It's Allen & Ginter Season

It's Topps Allen & Ginter season again. 

While some of you are participating in hunting season looking for at least an 8-pointer, I am out there looking for the non-sport cards from Allen & Ginter.

I am not sure if I see myself opening up any of this great product this season, so I have been looking to add the non-sport cards from it.

My buddy Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday had me covered with some of the names I wanted from 2022, but there are still some names that I need which are the following,

I would also love to get the Alice Cooper Relic as well. And it was surprising he didn't have a base card as well. I would have taken that instead of the relic.

Been Busy

*there is coffee in my mug again, takes a sip, gets ready for a new post*

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

And hopefully you had plenty of pie. Yes, there is a piece of my homemade apple pie underneath all of that creamy Cool Whip.

And next to this piece of pie is obviously some coffee. You can't have pie without coffee. It would be like having a peanut butter sandwich without the peanut butter.

Since taking a two-plus week off break I feel a bit more energized, and I am back to blogging on here again. 

Not that I didn't like my two-week vacation. I was able to tackle a lot of stuff I have been wanting to do. So, I may take some time off here and there and do it again.

One of my biggest projects I wanted to tackle was finally getting my Eli Manning collection added to TCDB. I don't use the website to its full potential with trading, threads, etc, but I do enjoy the player checklists and seeing where I rank with my collections.

Most of the collections I have added so far on there I am ranked #1 with, I will tackle that on here another day, but I knew ahead of time that my Eli collection wouldn't beat out the top guys.

Eli has a total of 11,431 cards so far. It appears that Panini will be adding more of him this year to that number. I have 885 of those cards (more on this in a second) which equals 7.7% complete.

  

These numbers put me in third place on TCDB for Eli Manning with a nice gap from the 4th place person.

Now back to my numbers.

Besides what TCDB says I have, there were also 22 unaccounted cards I couldn't add to the website. These cards are ones that are not listed on the site and others that I have duplicates of that have a different numbering. For example, a card numbered 22/100 and a card numbered 57/100. I count these as two different cards because it's two different numberings. I couldn't figure out how to double up the cards on there but I would rather keep it the way it is anyways. 

So, if you add 885 plus 22 that brings me to 907 Eli Mannings. This finally brings me over the 900 threshold and the countdown to 1,000 begins.

That's something to celebrate......with some more coffee.
